Abstract

This study examines the legal perspective on the profession of advocates as law enforcers in Indonesia, focusing on the inconsistency of referring to advocates as law enforcement officers, similar to judges, prosecutors, and police. Based on Law Number 18 of 2003 concerning Advocates, Article 5 paragraph (1), advocates have the status of law enforcers who are free, independent, and guaranteed by law, but do not have the same characteristics and authority as law enforcement officers. Advocates play a crucial role in providing legal services, including consultation, assistance, and defense, for the interests of clients, without the bureaucratic hierarchy and authority that often accompany detention, prosecution, or legal decision-making. This study uses a normative juridical method by analyzing laws and regulations, expert opinions, and legal literature. The results of the study indicate that advocates play a crucial role in maintaining justice and protecting human rights within the justice system, encompassing both criminal and civil matters, with the principles of independence and immunity that are recognized nationally and internationally. However, referring to advocates as law enforcement officers is inappropriate due to differences in duties, functions, and independence. This study recommends reaffirmation in regulations to clarify the status of advocates as independent law enforcers, as well as increasing public understanding to strengthen the integrity of the advocate profession in supporting a fair justice system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study was intended to design and determine the effectiveness of a visual novel-based educational game in enhancing the understanding of basic computer subjects for high school students. The research used the ADDIE model as its development framework, which stands for Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The analysis phase revealed that students were having difficulty understanding concepts about computers because conventional lecture-based teaching methods were being used. The visual novel game was designed by combining narrative storylines with illustrations, interactive quizzes, and decision-making elements to engage students in learning activities. Media and material experts validated the product with feasibility scores of 90% and 88%, both categorized as highly feasible. Implementation involved 26 tenth-grade students who completed pretest and posttest assessments; results indicated significant learning improvement with average scores increasing from 5.81 (41.5%) to 10.77 (76.9%), producing an N-Gain value of 0.61 (medium category). Student response questionnaires indicated high acceptance with an overall score of 87.58%—particularly in game usefulness at 94.23% and learning experience at 91.35%. This proves that visual novel-based educational games can improve student understanding, motivation, and engagement in learning basic computers as an alternative to conventional teaching methods in ICT education.

Abstract

The continuously increasing energy demand drives the utilization of renewable energy, one of which is biogas from cow dung. Biogas production is generally not optimal because fermentation is conducted at room temperature, which is less suitable for methanogenic bacteria. This research designs an Internet of Things (IoT) based anaerobic digester that can monitor and control temperature in real time, while also examining the effect of fermentation temperature on biogas volume and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The temperature of 25°C produced the lowest volume (0.3 L) and COD (9600 mg/L). The optimal fermentation condition is found at a temperature of 35°C. The research results indicate that temperature significantly affects the fermentation process. A temperature of 35°C yields the highest biogas volume (3.7 L) and the lowest COD (6400 mg/L), whereas a temperature of 27°C results in the lowest volume (0.3 L) and COD (9600 mg/L). The optimal fermentation condition is at a temperature of 35°C. The application of IoT facilitates the monitoring of the process and enhances the efficiency of biogas production. Keywords: Biogas, Anaerobic Digester, Internet of Things (IoT), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)

Abstract

This study examines the representation of Machiavellian leadership communication in the Korean manhwa Heavenly Demon Can’t Live a Normal Life. Departing from conventional studies that locate Machiavellianism within formal political institutions or historical leadership, this research positions popular visual narratives as significant sites for the construction and dissemination of power discourse. Using a qualitative approach and critical discourse analysis, the study analyses narrative structures, character dialogues, and visual symbolism to uncover how leadership, legitimacy, and organizational control are communicatively produced. The findings reveal that leadership in the manhwa is constructed as a strategic communicative practice rather than mere coercion or inherited authority. The protagonist, Roman Dmitri, establishes legitimacy through a combination of performative competence, centralized decision-making, symbolic violence, and strategic displays of care. These communicative practices generate voluntary consent and organizational loyalty, aligning closely with Machiavellian principles that emphasize effectiveness, stability, and the management of perception. Furthermore, the manhwa integrates political communication and organizational communication by depicting power as a continuous process of discourse reproduction within a hierarchical structure. Authority is normalized through narratives that frame domination as necessary, rational, and morally justified when accompanied by protection and responsibility. This study contributes to communication scholarship by demonstrating that Korean manhwa functions as a meaningful political-organizational text, capable of articulating complex Machiavellian leadership logics through visual storytelling.

Abstract

Corporate Crime is a serious crime that harms the people of Indonesia, especially in the long term. For a long time, corporate crime has often been in the public spotlight, especially with cases such as corruption, money laundering, and tax evasion. Not only that, in the environmental aspect there are also corporate crimes, for example in the abuse of power that causes environmental pollution which has a very wide impact on various parties. Therefore, this study aims to examine how the criminal liability of corporations that commit environmental crimes in Indonesia is carried out. The research methodologyused here is normative juridical research. The results of the research obtained are criminal liability for environmental crimes committed by corporations, accountability not only for individuals, but also corporations such as for example a business entity as emphasized in Articles 116-118 of Law No. 32 of 2009. As well as providing a perspective on how Islamic law responds to the phenomenon of corporate criminal liability. In this case, Islamic Law has views from various sources, namely the Qur'an and As-Sunnah as the main reference in managing the environment and behaving. In Surah Ar-Rum verse 40 Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said: It has been seen that the destruction on the land and in the sea is caused by the deeds of human hands (Through it) Allah makes them feel a part of their deeds so that they can return (to the right path). The MUI in its Fatwa once stated that in the utilization of environmental wealth, managers must prioritize ethics that avoid environmental damage not only for the sake of profit. In Islamic law, corporate liability in the environment is to compensate for losses due to unlawful acts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the legal force and legal implications of credit agreements without notarial legalization on legal protection for banks and debtors at the Central Java Regional Development Bank. This study uses an empirical legal method with a statutory and sociological legal approach to examine legal provisions normatively and their application in practice. Data were obtained through interviews and observations as primary data, and literature studies as secondary data. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that credit agreements without notarial legalization remain valid as long as they meet the requirements for a valid agreement according to the Civil Code, but have limitations in evidentiary power and executorial certainty compared to authentic deeds. From the perspective of legal protection, banks as creditors obtain relative protection and depend on internal control mechanisms, while debtors do not receive the guarantee of independent verification as in notarial legalization. This condition indicates implications for the level of legal certainty for parties in credit practices.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a tropical country, exhibits rainfall patterns that are strongly influenced by both global and regional atmospheric dynamics. The seasonal climate system in Indonesia, which consists of the wet season, dry season, and transitional periods, plays a crucial role in water resource management, agricultural activities, and disaster mitigation. To better understand these complex atmospheric and hydrological interactions, climatological parameters such as Equivalent Water Height (EWH) serve as important indicators of terrestrial water storage variability. The application of GRACE and GRACE-FO satellite missions provides a novel approach to monitoring hydrological dynamics through EWH, enabling large-scale and continuous observations of terrestrial water storage changes. The results of this study reveal a strong negative relationship between the Oceanic Niño Index (ONI) and EWH at zero time lag, indicating that El Niño events tend to reduce terrestrial water storage across Indonesia. This simultaneous response suggests that changes in atmospheric circulation during El Niño phases immediately affect hydrological conditions over land. In particular, the reduction in water storage is primarily associated with weakened moisture transport from both the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, which are the main sources of atmospheric water vapor influencing Indonesia’s climate system. As a result, decreased moisture convergence leads to reduced precipitation and a rapid decline in terrestrial water reserves. Bias evaluation further indicates distinct spatial patterns across the Indonesian region. Negative bias predominantly occurs in Sumatra and Kalimantan, whereas positive bias is more commonly observed in Nusa Tenggara and Maluku. In addition, the RMSE analysis shows that EWH estimates are relatively more accurate in regions with homogeneous rainfall patterns, while their performance decreases in areas characterized by high rainfall variability. These findings highlight the importance of considering regional climatic characteristics when interpreting satellite-based hydrological observations and emphasize the role of large-scale atmospheric–oceanic interactions in shaping terrestrial water storage dynamics in Indonesia.
