Abstract

Currently, the demand for cleanrooms is quite high. With the growth of the food industry, medical equipment, and hospitals, the need for these spaces has become increasingly important. Cleanroom classifications are regulated in various literature, such as ISO, SNI, NFPA, and others. In ISO 14644-1, cleanroom classification is divided into several categories: Class 100,000 (ISO 8), Class 10,000 (ISO 7), Class 1,000 (ISO 6), and Class 100 (ISO 5). The differences between these classifications lie in temperature, humidity, air changes per hour, particle quality, and airflow distribution.To maintain humidity, electric heaters are generally used as equipment. The energy requirement is quite high, and in an AHU system, this device creates an additional heat load because it generates the full sensible load. In this study, the use of a heat compressor or heat recovery unit could be an option for maintaining humidity in a room conditioned by an HVAC system. The flow rate of the high-temperature, high-pressure refrigerant will be regulated using a solenoid valve triggered by a humidity sensor. A defrost mechanism will be implemented within the heat recovery coil to prevent freezing within the system. The results of this study state that the energy required for a cleanroom AHU system that uses heat recovery for air humidity conditioning is more efficient than using an electric heater.

Abstract

The use of fossil energy has a negative impact on the preservation nature, wind turbines are one form of renewable energy utilization solutions that are environmentally friendly. This study was conducted to determine the performance of the L-type Savonius vertical axis wind turbine modified with variations in geometry and number of blades against airflow. Based on the simulation results using Ansys 2023 student version, it is known that the smaller the angle of attack of the blade, the greater the potential power , while the increase in the number of blades makes the potential power decrease. Turbines with the number of blades 3 with an angular geometry of 30° have the most optimum performance, namely with a maximum airflow velocity at the tip of the turbine blade of 11.2 m/s, the resulting torque of 2345 Nm with an optimum angular velocity of 46.914 rad/s resulting in a potential power of 110.014 Watt.

Abstract

Development system cooler portable become important along increasing need cooling practical without use refrigerant and compressor . System cooler based The Peltier effect offers solution friendly environment and size compact , but performance is greatly influenced by ability disposal hot on the side hot module . Research This aim design and build system cooler drink portable based Peltier module with optimization mechanics using a heatsink and wind tunnel fan. Research methods covering design mechanics , manufacturing prototype , as well as testing performance thermal through measurement temperature side hot , side cold , temperature drinks and consumption Power electricity . The test results show that the system is able to achieve a minimum cold side temperature of 12 °C, a cooling chamber temperature of 16 °C, and reduce the beverage temperature by up to 5 °C within a 30-minute test duration. The use of a heatsink combined with a wind tunnel fan has been shown to increase the effectiveness of heat dissipation, thereby maintaining the stability of the Peltier module's performance. This system has the potential to be developed as an alternative small-scale portable cooler with low power consumption.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the energy efficiency of a Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) system in driving a winch during tensile load testing. Experiments were conducted on a hydraulic winch with a maximum capacity of 10 tons by applying tensile loads gradually from 2 to 10 tons. The measured parameters include hydraulic pressure, flow rate, pulling force, and rope winding speed. Hydraulic input power and mechanical output power were calculated to evaluate system efficiency. The results indicate that the HPU system is capable of operating the winch stably under all tested load conditions. System efficiency tends to increase from low to medium load levels and then becomes relatively constant or slightly decreases at higher loads due to increasing energy losses caused by mechanical friction, internal leakage, and pressure drops in the hydraulic system. These findings suggest that proper selection of operating parameters and regular maintenance of hydraulic components are essential to improve the overall energy efficiency and reliability of HPU-driven winch systems.

Abstract

Plastic waste is a serious environmental problem because it is difficult to decompose and its volume continues to increase. One potential solution is pyrolysis technology, a thermal decomposition process at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen that produces oil, gas, and solid residue. This study aims to validate the performance of simulation software in designing a prototype pyrolysis machine using a used oil burner with a simple condensation system through design, simulation, and experimental testing. A three-dimensional model was created using SolidWorks, while temperature distribution analysis was performed using ANSYS. The prototype was designed to process approximately 2 kg of PP and PET plastic at 300–500°C. Parameters analyzed included reactor temperature distribution, condenser temperature drop, and heating and cooling system performance. Both simulation and experimental results demonstrated good performance. The used oil burner produced stable heat, and the condensation system effectively converted steam to oil, demonstrating the prototype's potential for development into an efficient and economical small-scale pyrolysis machine.

Abstract

In Indonesia's tropical climate, educational buildings such as Dian Nusantara University face thermal comfort challenges due to high temperatures and intense solar radiation, necessitating accurate cooling load analysis for AC system optimization. This study aims to calculate the total cooling load on the first floor using a descriptive quantitative approach with the ASHRAE-based CLTD method, through measurements of building dimensions, occupants, equipment, and the local climate of Cibubur. The results indicate a total load of 53.88 kW (15.3 TR), dominated by wall envelopes (32.0%), glass (21.1%), and occupants (17.1%), while the installed AC capacity of 70 kW is 30% oversized in aggregate but undercapacity in some rooms. The conclusions emphasize the need to adjust AC capacity per room and the combination of split and cassette AC types for energy efficiency; implications include operational cost savings and improved thermal comfort in tropical buildings.

Abstract

This study aims to design, realize, and evaluate the performance of a mini-scale plastic waste pyrolysis machine prototype based on a used oil burner with a simple condensation system. The research methods include design, fabrication of main components, system assembly, and thermal performance testing for 60 minutes. Test results show that the reactor reached a maximum temperature of 346°C at 40 minutes and maintained a stable temperature of around 325°C. The spiral condensation system was able to convert pyrolysis vapor into liquid oil. The developed prototype has the potential to be an alternative mini-scale waste-to-energy plastic waste treatment technology that is economical and applicable.

Abstract

Global climate change and the increasing energy demand in the hospitality industry have led to greater attention toward energy efficiency and resource management. In Bali, known as one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, hotel buildings rely on cooling systems to maintain guest comfort. Water-cooled centrifugal chillers are widely used in large buildings, including hotels. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in cooling water inlet temperature on the performance of a water-cooled centrifugal chiller in a hotel building in Bali. The research object is a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries chiller with a capacity of 250 TR using R134a refrigerant. The method used is an experimental study, focusing only on the chiller unit without considering air conditioning and cooling tower performance. The results show that increasing the cooling water inlet temperature raises condenser pressure and electrical energy consumption. At a cooling load of 72%, maintaining the inlet temperature at 27.48°C (below the maximum specification limit) can save 194.4 kWh of electrical energy per day. However, if the inlet temperature reaches 32.05°C (above specifications), energy consumption increases by 199.2 kWh per day.
