Abstract

Literary learning is important and cannot be underestimated. However, literature learning in Indonesia faces several problems, such as limited time in class, lack of resources, infrastructure and facilities, as well as teachers' competence and interest in literature. The situation has not improved. When the government published a national guidebook for learning and teaching literature entitled Panduan Penggunaan Rekomendasi Buku Sastra (Guide to Using Recommended Literary Books), sharp criticism emerged. Not to mention potential new problems that may arise in literature learning in the VUCA era. This article is a literature review article. Not only does it present a list of books and articles from library research that can be used as references and provide solutions to problems in learning literature, this article also discusses the urgency of learning literature, the objectives of learning literature, the position of teachers in learning literature, criteria for selecting literary works in learning, as well as designing literature learning in the VUCA era. This discussion ultimately leads to the conclusion that literature learning policies need to be carried out seriously and carefully because they have a big impact on the nation's future generations.

Abstract

Education has been recognised as a fundamental part of local, national and international efforts to bring about environmental sustainability. However, some schools are confused to integrate it in school program and to raise students awareness towards the environmental issues. The purpose of this study is to explore the integration of ecological education (Eco-Edu) in English Language Teaching (ELT) materials and its role in promoting students’ critical thinking and sustainable behaviour. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. For triangulation data, the researchers combined qualitative data from interviews and quantitative data from questionnaires. The respondents of this study were teachers from five different schools which have integrated the ecological theme in ELT materials. Five informants from five schools were interviewed extensively to collect qualitative data. The interviews were analyzed through thematic analysis using ChatGPT application tools. The findings of this study indicated that teachers were able to integrate the environmental education by applying various ecological themes in ELT materials which could promote the students’ critical thinking and raise their sustainable behavior. Teachers noted that students became more proactive in environmental initiatives, such as waste management and tree planting, reflecting a greater awareness of ecological concerns. Moreover, the study highlighted the importance of institutional support and teacher preparedness in successfully implementing Eco-Edu. Ultimately, the integration of Eco-Edu in ELT not only improved language skills but also cultivated a sense of responsibility toward the environment, equipping students with the knowledge and motivation to address global ecological challenges.

Abstract

Integrating local content into teaching materials greatly aids students in their English learning, but the lack of such materials remains an issue. This study aims to develop teaching materials based on local content. It focuses on four key areas: needs analysis, development, practicality, and effectiveness. Utilizing the ADDIE or analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation research design, data collection was conducted with seventh-grade students in the Jepara through observation, interview, questionnaire, and test, which were then analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative method. The analysis revealed that both students and teachers required teaching materials that incorporated local content. The validation of teaching materials indicated a score of 3.56 for lecturers and 3.74 for practitioners, categorizing it as very feasible. The practicality of the teaching materials is indicated by an observation score of 3.4 and a questionnaire score of 3.21. Students’ holistic reading skills improved after utilizing teaching materials centered on local content, particularly in relation to their learning experiences, discourses, and reading comprehension. The findings suggest that the government should develop policies focused on utilizing local content in teaching materials.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the drill method in improving the writing skills of first-grade students at SDN Duwet 01 Baki who experience dysgraphia. Dysgraphia is a writing disorder that affects motor skills, writing speed, neatness, and students' independence. The drill method was chosen due to its repetitive practice-based approach, which gradually helps students build their writing skills. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with Johnny Saldana's data analysis model. The research subjects consisted of 20 first-grade students and a class teacher. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation to understand the drill method's implementation in-depth. The findings indicate that the drill method significantly enhances students' writing abilities, particularly in motor coordination, writing speed, letter consistency, and independence in completing writing tasks. Furthermore, this method increases students' motivation and confidence in writing. The implications of this study highlight the importance of the drill method as an alternative intervention in writing instruction for students with learning difficulties such as dysgraphia. Additionally, this study recommends integrating technology into the drill method to enhance the effectiveness of writing exercises more innovatively and engagingly for students.

Abstract

Interprofessional education (IPE) involves collaboration among various fields within the healthcare system to achieve optimal health outcomes. IPE reduces gaps between health professionals from diverse backgrounds, fostering teamwork and effective collaboration. Early integration of IPE into medical curricula is essential to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for collaborative healthcare practices, ultimately improving patient care, reducing medical errors, and enhancing healthcare service quality. This review investigates the impact of early exposure to IPE on the skills, attitudes, and collaborative abilities of medical students in Asia. The goal is to assess whether early introduction fosters professionalism and effective interprofessional collaboration. Literature searches were conducted using Google Scholar and PubMed with appropriate keywords (interprofessional education, collaboration, medicine, and education). Articles were assessed for evidence-based relevance to the global health system, and those with cultural, racial, or religious biases were excluded. Review writing review based on 40 sources (journals, books, or WHO guidelines) that meet the criteria and keywords. Findings suggest that early engagement with IPE promotes positive attitudes, teamwork, and leadership skills among medical students. However, concerns remain regarding insufficient genuine interprofessional collaboration and potential declines in student attitudes without proper implementation. The early introduction of IPE has the potential to cultivate professionalism and collaborative skills among medical students in Asia. This review provides a foundation for encouraging the inclusion of IPE in medical curricula to improve interprofessional collaboration and healthcare outcomes.
