Abstract

This community service activity aimed to raise awareness among the residents of Plerean Village, Sumberjambe District, Jember Regency about the negative impacts of early marriage. The socialization was conducted by participants of the 2024 Jember Collaborative Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN), from the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) as the main speaker. Through lectures and interactive discussions, the material covered the definition of early marriage, the reasons behind it, its negative impacts, relevant laws and policies, and the Islamic perspective on the ideal age for marriage. The results showed a significant increase in the community’s understanding of the risks associated with early marriage and the importance of delaying marriage until a mature age is reached. Pre- and post-test results showed that participants' understanding of the detrimental effects of early marriage had increased by 30%. Up to 60% of individuals declared their intention to stop getting married young, demonstrating a favorable shift in mindset. Community support for the initiative was reinforced by a 20% increase in the involvement of community leaders. In addition, there was a commitment from 45% of participants to discourage early marriage in their families. Continuous education and socialization were found to be effective in reducing the incidence of early marriage in Plerean Village

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the values of religious moderation contained in the Rengganis song from the Sasak community in Lombok. Tembang Rengganis is a part of oral literature that conveys moral and religious messages through the story of Dewi Komalasari and other characters. This research employs a qualitative approach using text analysis methods and in-depth interviews with local cultural figures. The research findings indicate that this song contains values of religious moderation such as honesty, ethics, politeness, and social responsibility, as portrayed by the character Dewi Komalasari, Dewi Rengganis and Repatmaja. In addition, the antagonism displayed by the character Cupak illustrates the consequences of negative traits such as greed and envy. In conclusion, the internalization of the values contained in this song can encourage the strengthening of a moderate religious spirit within the Sasak community, particularly in maintaining social and religious harmony. This research contributes to the understanding of the importance of religious moderation in the context of local traditions.

Abstract

This qualitative research aims to explore in depth the factors inhibiting the adoption of Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) technology in drought-prone communities, focusing on non-technical aspects that are socio-cultural, perceptual, and psychological. This study uses a phenomenological approach through qualitative methods. Data was collected from communities in drought-prone areas through in-depth interviews and Pumped Group Discussions (FGDs). Data analysis was carried out thematically to identify key patterns and themes. This study reveals five main themes as inhibitors of RWH adoption: (1) Public perception that rainwater is "dirty" and unfit for consumption, while groundwater and PDAM water are considered "clean" and guaranteed; (2) Economic constraints and priority allocation of family funds; (3) Perception of technological complexity and concerns about treatment; (4) Institutional weaknesses and social dynamics in management; and (5) Beliefs and cultural norms that view drought as a destiny. These findings suggest that the biggest obstacle is not in the technical aspect, but in the construction of entrenched social perceptions, values, and norms. The success of community service programs in implementing civil engineering technology such as RWH is highly dependent on understanding the socio-cultural context of the community. An approach that focuses only on technical solutions will fail to guarantee adoption and sustainability. A holistic, participatory, and culturally sensitive intervention strategy is needed, which not only provides infrastructure but also builds strong local awareness, confidence, and institutions to create sustainable water resilience.

Abstract

The HukaEa indigenous people are the Moronene people who are scattered in the Poleang and Rumbia mainland areas or which are currently included in the expansion of the Bombana Regency. The community itself is a group of people with a total of 110 families with a total of 453 people who are struggling to defend their claim to their customary territory, covering an area of 26,000 Ha. Nowadays, the problem faced by the community is their territory which is right inside the Rawa Aopa National Park. This then became a barrier to the community in carrying out their activities, so that territorial claims were filed. In The Ministry Regulation No. 52 of 2014, it is explained that indigenous peoples must be identified through 5 elements, namely, history, territories, customary law, assets or customary objects, and customary government institutions or systems. In this case, there is a lack of written history related to the community and no one has written a history of how the HukaEa indigenous people were originally from. However, the discovered manuscript that was typed by the HukaEa community in 1974 slowly saved the HukaEa indigenous people in the process of claiming their territory and existence. In the text, entitled PU'UNO RONGA TEKALE ANO TO MORONENE, it is clear how the history of the early birth of the Moronene community in general and the formation of a group of HukaEa Indigenous Peoples who live in the area which is currently the area of the Rawa Aopa National Park, as well as the history of customary government and also his royal lineage. This rewritten manuscript has now become one of the strong grips and foundations for the HukaEa indigenous people in claiming their existence as indigenous peoples who are recognized and protected by the government
