Abstract

In spoken academic discourse, there are various directive speech acts forms and strategies both formal and informal. Based on the previous research with different focuses show that directive speech acts is one of speech acts types mostly used in daily conversation. The study of directive speech acts can also be found in classroom interaction as spoken academic discourse. The locutors’ and interlocutors’ expressions in spoken academic discourse are vary. Language variation involves direct and indirect strategies as well as literal and non-literal with small portion of local language use. The use of directive speech acts is affected by contextual socio-cultural factors within the conversation. The locutors sometimes use local language in conveying certain meaning to the interlocutors. The structure of dialogue, moreover, disallows the taking up of any position beyond the interlocutors from which they can be integrated into a larger totality.

Abstract

Recognizing and nurturing all the varieties of human intelligences is essential for exploring the talents of students and enabling their identification of multiple intelligences. Studies have suggested that eliciting the maximum potential of intelligences leads to students' success in their academic and future careers. The literature has shown that incorporating active learning into the teaching and learning of moral education to develop multiple intelligences is limited. Accordingly, this study aims to discover the various intelligences that exist among moral education students through the active learning method. Active learning implies that all learners are provided with time and assistance to realize their potential. In this regard, multiple intelligence theory is used as the theoretical framework for defining, understanding, developing, and estimating the various intelligences that students have. The research design for this study is the qualitative method. A total of fourteen students from two schools were chosen as research participants. Data were collected through observation, focus group interviews, and journal entries. These findings reveal that using the active learning method in moral education can develop students’verbal linguistic intelligence, logical–mathematical intelligence, musical intelligence, spatial intelligence, bodily kinesthetic intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, and naturalistic intelligence. Integration and internalization of the eight intelligences into active learning holistically will shape the personality and character of students in social life.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to determine the effect of democratic leadership on the quality of processing higher education institutions (PT) on PGRI-based in East Java. This study employed a correlational quantitative research approach. The population of this study included all leaders of Private Higher Education (PTS) in the LLDIKTI VII East Java area, with a total of 60 samples chosen at random. With a 95 percent confidence level, the maximum error rate considered in this study was 5%. Based on the SPSS 26 test results, it was known that the instrument of democratic leadership style (X) and improving the quality of PT management (Y) was declared 'valid' with a calculated r value (X) of 0.758 and (Y) of 0.798 (with a r table value of 0.308). Cronbach Alpha values of 0.811 (X) and 0.856 (Y) indicated high reliability. The results of hypothesis testing (I) obtained the regression equation, namely Y = -2.765 + 0.225X, and the results of hypothesis testing (2) obtained t arithmetic (1.341) > t table (1.256) and a significance value of 0.02 > 0.05, so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted, which means that the democratic leadership style variable has a significant influence (there is still a low category influence relationship) on the quality of management of PGRI-based universities in East Java.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan strategi kesantunan berbahasa yang digunakan netizen dalam berkomentar pada akun Instagram Jokowi. Data dalam studi ini berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang memiliki nilai kesantunan positif dan negatif komentar pada akun Instagram Jokowi. Sumber data dalam studi ini adalah komentar-komentar pada akun Instagram Jokowi. Pengumpulan data dalam studi ini menggunakan metode dokumentasi dan simak dilanjutkan teknik bebas libat cakap (SBLC). Analisis data dalam studi ini menggunakan padan intralingual dan padan pragmatis. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi kesantunan netizen dalam berkomentar pada akun Instagram Jokowi irealisasikan dengan dua strategi yaitu strategi kesantunan positif dan negatif. Strategi kesantunan positif direalisasikan menjadi sembilan wujud, yaitu memberikan perhatian, menunjukkan sikap optimis, menggunakan penanda indentitas, memberikan pertanyaan, melibatkan penutur dalam komunikasi, mengintensifkan perhatian penutur dengan cara mendramatisasi peristiwadan fakta, memperhatikan keinginan mitra tutur, memberikan janji, dan menggunakan lelucon. Strategi kesantunan negatif direalisasikan menjadi tiga bentuk, yaitu meminta maaf, menunjukkan sikap pesimis; dan menggunakan bentuk impersonal. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa netizen pada akun Instagram Jokowi memiliki kepercayaam terhadap kepemimpinan Jokowi.(This study aims to describe the language politeness strategy used by netizens in commenting Jokowi's Instagram account. The data in this study are in the form of words, phrases, and sentences that have the value of positive politeness and negative comments on Jokowi's Instagram account. The data sources in this study are comments on Jokowi’s Instagram account. Data collecting in this study using the documentation method,   skillful involvement free technique (SBLC). The data analysis in this study uses an intralingual and pragmatic equivalent. The results of this study show that the strategy of politeness of netizens in commenting on the Jokowi’s Instagram account is realized with two strategies, namely the strategy of positive and negative politeness. Positive politeness strategies are realized into nine forms which include  giving attention, showing optimism, using identity markers, giving question, involving speakers in communication, intensifying the attention of speakers by dramatizing events and facts, paying attention to the wishes of the speech partner, giving promises, and using jokes. Negative politeness strategies are realized into three forms which include apologizing, showing pessimism, using impersonal forms. This shows that netizens of Jokowi's Instagram account have confidence in Jokowi's leadership.)

Abstract

Kemandirian belajar merupakan pondasi dasar bagi siswa untuk mencapai cita-cita. Kemandirian belajar sangat penting dan perlu dikembangkan di sekolah dasar. Tujuan penelitian dalam artikel ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemandirian siswa pada pembelajaran daring dalam memahami konsep dan mengerjakan soal matematika menggunakan flipped classroom. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 33 siswa kelas VI semester 1 tahun pelajaran 2020/2021 yang terdiri dari 21 siswa laki-laki dan 12 siswa perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara untuk menggali kemandirian belajar siswa sesuai dengan indikator kemandirian belajar. Keabsahan data dengan triangulasi sumber yaitu siswa dan orang tua untuk crosschek jawaban siswa. Triangulasi yang dilakukan pada metode yaitu mencocokkan data yang diperoleh dari wawancara dan observasi. Analisis data menggunakan teknik interaktif mulai dari reduksi data, display data, dan menyimpulkan data. Analisis data menggunakan teknik induktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemandirian siswa pada pembelajaran daring dalam memahami konsep matematika dan mengerjakan soal Matematika melalui model pembelajaran flipped classroom adalah baik

Abstract

This qualitative-ethnography study described the critical thinking skill based on indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference in solving mathematical problem. The subjects of the study were the headmaster, math teachers, and ninth grade students of a public junior high school in academic year of 2020/2021. The data were collected through observation, field notes, interview, and documentation. Triangulation of sources and technique were used to ensure the data validation in this research. Data analysis technique was done inductively with continuous process along with the data collection. The results of the study showed high initial skills in mathematics become the basic need for the students in developing critical thinking skills based on indicators of interpretation. The improvement of critical thinking based on the indicator of interpretation is accustomed through problem-based learning. Critical thinking process based on the indicator of analysis is cultivated through collaborative learning. In this indicator, the students need special attention from the teacher. There is always the possibility for every student from each level to face difficulties in solving some problems without collaborating with others. The teachers can make more effort to optimize the students’ basic holistic skills in line with their knowledge and experience in order to improve students’ critical thinking skills based on the indicator of inference. In this indicator, teachers should guide the students to improve their critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Seeing society and industry needs relate to mechanical engineering for now and in the future, Mechanical Engineering for Society and Industry (MESI) is an important journal to discuss problems and solutions in mechanical engineering practice. The articles in this journal are a representation of scientific editors and advisory boards' dedication, reviewers' contributions in improving articles quality, and authors contributions in providing standardized articles. Hopefully, this journal can be a source of new insights and inspiration for further research, as well as a new reference for society and industry to solve their problems.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan hal yang penting bagi bangsa dan negara. Banyak faktor yang memengaruhi terbentuknya pendidikan yang baik salah satunya adalah minat belajar pada siswa. Namun kondisi di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa minat belajar pada siswa tergolong rendah. permasalahan ini dapat dikurangi dengan menerapkan pembelajaran kreatif pada siswa. Adapun penelitian yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk a) mendeskripsikan pembelajaran kreatif guna meningkatan minat belajar pada siswa Sekolah Dasar di Desa Kuniran, Kecamatan Sine, Kabupaten Ngawi; b) meningkatkan minat belajar siswa Sekolah Dasar di Desa Kuniran, Kecamatan Sine, Kabupaten Ngawi pada masa pandemic covid-19. Metode yang diterapkan pada penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode pengolahan data yang terdiri atas reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa pembelajaran kreatif yang diterapkan mampu meningkatkan minat belajar pada siswa di masa pandemi Covid-19. Hal ini dapat terjadi karena pembelajaran yang diciptakan bersifat unik, baru, dan bervariasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini dapat dijadikan referensi dalam menciptakan pembelajaran kreatif sehingga tujuan dari pembelajaran bisa dicapai lebih maksimal.

Abstract

Implikatur bagian dari sebuah kajian pragmatik. Implikatur dapat diartikan sebuah ilmu yang mengkaji maksud yang terkandung dalam sebuah ujaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk-bentuk dan maksud implikatur dalam komentar netizen mengenai cover majalah tempo. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif berkaitan tentang mengumpulkan data untuk memberikan gambaran atau penegasan dalam suatu konsep atau gejala. Jenis data diambil dari transkrip dari komentar serta postingan netizen dalam sosial media yang berkenaan tentang cover majalah tempo yang bergambar Jokowi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa jenis-jenis tuturan yang diujarkan dalam komentar merupakan jenis  implikatur konvensional dan non konvensional. Implikatur konvensional yang diambil menggunakan langsung dari makna kata dalam tuturan, sedangkan implikatur non konvensional merupakan implikatur yang didapatkan dari maksim percakapan yang langsung kepada mitra tutur. Tuturan yang diambil dari berbagai sosial media memiliki wujud pro dan kontra. Tuturan pro berkaitan dengan tuturan dukungan atas cover majalah tempo yang sudah beredar dan menjadi kontroversi, sedangkan tuturan kontra merupakan sebuah tuturan yang menentang adanya cover majalah tempo yang bergambar Jokowi.

Abstract

TOGA or Family Medicinal Plant is one of the cultivated plants that can be carried out in the yard area of the house where it can be utilized and used as medicine. Due to the lack of use of TOGA as a natural breakthrough in maintaining the immune system among the community, this will have an impact on the addition of positive cases of the COVID-19 virus that occurred in Indonesia. So that efforts can be made to the community, namely providing empowerment regarding the use of TOGA or Family Medicinal Plants which are used as Immunomodulator agents. The purpose of the research in this article is to increase the use of TOGA or Family Medicinal Plants as a form of effort to maintain the body's immune system in the era of adaptation to new habits. Where in this study is concerned with the people of Hamlet Wates, RT 20/RW 03, Lencoh Village, Selo District, Boyolali Regency which includes 48 families. The method used in this research includes several things, namely public education by conducting counseling; training with the community by conducting demonstrations; and Diffusion of Science and Technology by producing processed products from the use of TOGA. Then from the research, it was found that after empowering the local community, the community was more aware of various kinds of medicinal plants and how to properly use medicinal plants into herbal ingredients that can be consumed every day to maintain the body's immune system.
