Abstract

Understanding the socio-cultural context is key to developing the right support system for distance learners. The socio-cultural context in Turkey is an important element in the development of Turkish distance education programs, where the two elements of Turkish cultural patronage and oral tradition - seem to play an important role. The main objective of this study was to determine the role of the socio-cultural context in designing appropriate support services and improving interaction in the Turkish Distance Education System, namely, the Faculty of Open Education (OEF). The study first introduces the OEF technology and socio-cultural context then presents to consider the influence of those contexts in designing appropriate support services and enhancing interactions; and finally provide several suggestions to improve student support and interaction in accordance with the prevailing socio-cultural context.

Abstract

Pendekatan Outcome-Based Education (OBE) menuntut perencanaan pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada capaian hasil belajar yang terukur dan selaras dengan profil lulusan. Dalam Program Studi Pendidikan Islam Anak Usia Dini (PIAUD), penyusunan Rencana Pembelajaran Semester (RPS) berbasis OBE menjadi indikator penting kompetensi pedagogik dosen. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kemampuan dosen PIAUD dalam menyusun RPS berbasis OBE melalui analisis dokumen. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis dokumen terhadap RPS mata kuliah inti PIAUD. Fokus analisis meliputi keselarasan CPL, CPMK, Sub-CPMK, metode pembelajaran, dan sistem penilaian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara struktural RPS telah memenuhi kerangka OBE, namun pada tataran operasional masih ditemukan kelemahan dalam keterukuran rumusan CPMK dan Sub-CPMK serta keterpaduan metode pembelajaran dan penilaian. Temuan ini menegaskan perlunya penguatan kompetensi dosen PIAUD dalam perencanaan pembelajaran berbasis OBE.

Abstract

Salafiyah Islamic boarding schools are traditional Islamic educational institutions that prioritize the study of classical Islamic texts through methods such as sorogan and bandongan. In recent years, many pesantren have integrated formal education into their systems while maintaining traditional values. This study examines the influence of salafiyah pesantren on the existence of formal education at the Sunniyah Salafiyah Pesantren Al-Azhar Putri. The research focuses on how pesantren values, learning methods, and institutional structures affect students’ participation in formal education and how both systems are integrated in daily practice.The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with an alternative hypothesis stating that salafiyah pesantren influence formal education, while the null hypothesis states otherwise. Purposive sampling was applied to select 42 SMA and SMK female students as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and regression analysis.The results indicate that salafiyah pesantren have a significant positive effect on the existence of formal education. The simple linear regression equation obtained was Y = 68.385 + 0.465X. The influence of salafiyah pesantren on formal education reached 45.6%, while 54.4% was affected by other factors. The findings also show that the learning system at Sunniyah Salafiyah Pesantren Al-Azhar Putri supports students positively. Formal education in the pesantren environment successfully integrates tarbiyyah, ta’lim, and ta’dib to strengthen both religious character and academic development. These findings confirm that traditional pesantren values and modern schooling can coexist harmoniously to create balanced religious, social, and intellectual development for female students

Abstract

General Background: Islamic Religious Education requires contextual learning materials that connect religious concepts with students’ real-life social and digital experiences. Specific Background: Initial classroom conditions showed teacher-centered instruction, limited student discussion, weak analytical exploration, and insufficient development of balanced wasathiyah attitudes. Knowledge Gap: Existing teaching materials remained text-oriented and did not provide adequate problem-based exploration to support critical thinking and moderate religious attitudes. Aims: This study developed Problem Based Instruction Islamic Religious Education teaching materials to strengthen students’ critical thinking and wasathiyah abilities. Results: The developed module was designed through needs analysis, product design, development, validation, field testing, and revision. It integrated learning objectives, triggering questions, problem-based activities, reflection, worksheets, and assessment tools covering knowledge, attitudes, and skills. Expert validation indicated that the module met feasibility standards in content, language, and instructional design. Field testing involving 36 grade X software engineering students showed a positive student response score of 76.6%. Students became more active in discussion, more willing to express opinions, better able to draw group conclusions, and more open to different viewpoints. The module also supported logical reasoning, problem analysis, decision-making, tolerance, fairness, balance, and respectful interaction in social and digital contexts. Novelty: The study presents a contextual Islamic Religious Education module that combines problem-based learning, critical thinking indicators, and wasathiyah values within students’ everyday realities. Implications: The module can serve as an alternative teaching resource for more interactive, targeted, and character-oriented Islamic Religious Education learning. Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive learning media based on Adobe Flash CS6 integrated with Malay Deli local wisdom to improve students’ learning interest and moral character in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at an Integrated Islamic Elementary School. The background of this research is rooted in the limited use of innovative media in elementary Islamic education, where conventional teaching methods often lead to low student engagement and weak internalization of moral values. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The study was conducted at SD IT Ummi A’yuni, Perbaungan, North Sumatra, involving fifth-grade students, teachers, and expert validators. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, validation sheets, and learning outcome assessments. The developed media integrated multimedia elements such as text, animation, audio, video, and interactive quizzes with local cultural values reflecting Malay Deli traditions, politeness, cooperation, and Islamic ethics. The findings revealed that the media achieved a high level of feasibility based on evaluations by media experts, language experts, and subject matter experts. Students demonstrated increased enthusiasm, participation, and understanding of moral concepts during the learning process. Furthermore, the use of Adobe Flash-based interactive media significantly enhanced students’ learning interest and strengthened their understanding of commendable moral behavior. The study concludes that integrating technology with local wisdom can create meaningful, contextual, and engaging learning experiences while simultaneously supporting character education in elementary Islamic schools. The findings also indicate that technology-based media can become an effective pedagogical innovation for strengthening Islamic values, student motivation, and culturally responsive education in the twenty-first century.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate Wordwall based learning media tailored to student characteristics in Islamic Cultural History at Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah. By focusing on Wordwall learning media development, this research addresses the need for innovative digital tools in Islamic education. This research emploted the Research and Development (RD) method, following the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests, using both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Initial findings indicated a dominance of visual and kenaesthetics learning styles among students. The results of the study are as follows: 1) The development process successfully followed the five stages of the ADDIE model; 2) Expert validation yielded a score of 91.66% form both media and material specialists, categorising the media as “highly feasible”; 3) The effectiveness test showed significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with N-Gain scores in limited trials reaching 0.87 (87% effectiveness) for auditory/visual styles and 0.88 (88%) for kinaesthetic styles. In broader trials, N-Gain scores reached 0.93 (93%) for visual, 0.92 (92%) for auditory, and 0.86 (86%) for kinaesthetic styles, all falling within the “highly effective” category; 4) Practicality tests resulted in average scores of 3.5 from teachers and 3.4 from students, both classified as “higly practical”. It is concluded that the character based Wordwall media for the Sunan Kalijaga topic is a valid, practical, and highly effective tool for enhanching student learning outcomes in Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah.

Abstract

The Independent Learning Curriculum also places significant emphasis on developing students' character. Values ​​such as mutual cooperation, integrity, independence, and a sense of social responsibility are instilled through various learning activities designed to reflect real-world experiences. The relevance of instilling educational values ​​in relation to education, particularly Islamic education, is evident in the verse 7 of Surah Al-Anbiya' (The Holy Quran), which has profound implications for instilling these values. Education not only transfers knowledge but also instills the values ​​of rahmatan lil-'alamin (blessings for all the universe). This research is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of how the integration of Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin values ​​can be implemented in Islamic Religious Education (Islamic Religious Education), particularly in strengthening students' national character. The results of this study are expected not only to contribute theoretically to the development of character education studies based on moderate Islamic values, but also to serve as a practical reference for educators, educational units, and policymakers in designing relevant, applicable, and contextual Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning models in accordance with the spirit of the Independent Curriculum. The purpose of this research is to analyze the integration of rahmatan lil 'alamin values ​​to strengthen national character. This type of research is field research, where the key instrument is going into the field to conduct direct observations of a phenomenon.
