Abstract

Hubungan antara kebiasaan berpikir dengan kemampuan literasi matematika menjadi dasar dari penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kebiasaan berpikir siswa dan pengaruh kebiasaan pikiran terhadap kemampuan literasi matematika siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan metode ex post facto. Melalui teknik purposive sampling dipilih 35 siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP di Bandung. Siswa mengerjakan soal geometri pada materi membangun ruang sisi datar dan kebiasaan skala pikiran. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa kebiasaan berpikir memiliki kontribusi positif terhadap kemampuan literasi matematika siswa sebesar 43,5%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematika siswa dengan meningkatkan kebiasaan berpikir. The relationship between habits of mind with mathematical literacy ability is the basis of this research. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of students 'habits of mind and the influence of habits of mind on students' mathematical literacy ability. This research is an ex post facto method. Through a purposive sampling technique selected 35 students of class VIII at one of junior high school in Bandung. Students work on geometry problems in the material to build flat side spaces and habits of mind scale. The results found that habits of mind had a positive contribution on students' mathematical literacy ability by 43.5%. It can be concluded to improve students' mathematical literacy ability by increasing habits of mind.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that each student's different way of thinking in dealing with problems will produce different solutions. This different way of thinking is influenced by the schemata of knowledge that are formed in each other's minds. so that diversity can describe the way students think in the learning process, especially in solving problem solving problems. In this case, self-efficacy acts as an affective aspect that affects how students think, motivate themselves, and build confidence in students in the learning process. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a literature review related to the diversity of students' ways of thinking in solving mathematical problems in terms of self-efficacy. The research method chosen in this research is a systematic literature study. Data collection was obtained from the Google Schoolar database using the Publish or Perish application. The results of this study can contribute to further research for researchers who compile research on this issue.

Abstract

The use of new educational approaches and technologies can be beneficial in integrating 21st century skills and core competencies in education. STEM provides students with an effective learning environment to improve math skills and other 21st century skills. This research aims to explore and synthesize the best stem applications in math learning and its impact on 21st century mathematical competence. There are several studies related to the integration of STEM in mathematics learning to improve 21st century mathematical competence, which includes critical thinking and problem solving, creativity, communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively. The search for relevant data base was conducted in a study published from 2017 to 2021 that examined STEM and 21st century math competencies in formal education. The search strategy was carried out systematically by reviewing articles in the field of Education that had been published in the ERIC, Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases. Based on the results of systematic reviews of the literature generated that integrating STEM in mathematical learning must pay attention to the content of the lesson, the methods used in learning must be problem-based and project-based, and learning must be cooperative. In addition, STEM integration in math learning tends to improve 21st century mathematical competence especially in critical thinking and problem solving skills

Abstract

Activities posing and solving a problem are important parts in mathematics, so the problem posing is an activity that was instrumental in mathematical thinking and become an important part in solving the problem. This type of research is research and development that aims to develop student worksheets through scientific approach with what if not strategy. The research method consists of stages: literature study, observation, interviews, development of student worksheets, assessment of two experts, and restricted trial to the eleventh grade students in SMAN 2 Cimahi, SMAN 3 Cimahi, and SMAN 4 Cimahi. Based on the findings, it was concluded that the student worksheets through scientific approach with what if not strategy load some activities including observing, questioning, trying, reasoning, and concluding. The activity of questioning using what if not strategy involves changing data, adding data, changing data with the same question, or changing question with the same data. The student worksheets also presented some contextual problems in accordance with the experience of students. After tested using worksheet, the improvement of student mathematical problem posing in the three schools was in moderate criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to describe enhancement and achievement of mathematical critical thinking skills of students who received the 5E Learning Cycle with Metacognitive technique, the 5E Learning Cycle, and conventional learning. This study use experimental method with pretest-posttest control group design. Population are junior high school students in Indramayu city, Indonesia. Sample are three classes of eighth grade students from high level school and three classes from medium level school. The study reveal that in terms of overall, mathematical critical thinking skills enhancement and achievement of students who received the 5E Learning Cycle with Metacognitive technique is better than students who received the 5E Learning Cycle and conventional learning. Mathematical critical thinking skills of students who received the 5E Learning Cycle is better than students who received conventional learning. There is no interaction effect between learning model and school level toward enhancement and achievement of students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

AbstrakMemiliki kemampuan literasi matematis yang baik diharapkan dapat membantu siswa memecahkan masalah yang berkaitan dengan matematika. Fokus keterampilan literasi matematika pada siswa adalah kemampuan untuk menganalisis, membenarkan, dan mengkomunikasikan ide secara efektif, merumuskan, memecahkan dan menafsirkan masalah matematika dalam berbagai bentuk dan situasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah  mengembangkan lembar kerja siswa berbasis masalah yang valid dan praktis untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dalam materi sistem persamaan linear dua variabel. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development), yang terdiri dari tahap-tahap studi literatur, studi, observasi, wawancara, pengembangan lembar kerja siswa. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah hasil ujicoba dalam skala kecil dan skala besar menunjukan angka 70,66% dan 75,08%, ini berarti LKS berbasis masalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan literasi matematika dapat digunakan dan didistribusikan sebagai bahan pembelajaran dalam pembelajaran matematika untuk SMP. Development Problem Based Student Worksheet with Heuristic Strategy to Improve Mathematics Literacy SkillAbstractHaving good mathematical literacy skills is expected to help students solve problems related to mathematics. The focus of mathematics literacy skills on students is the ability to analyze, justify, and communicate ideas effectively, formulate, solve and interpret mathematical problems in various forms and situations The purpose of this study was to determine the development process based problems student worksheet to improve mathematical literacy skill valid and practical problems in the system linear equations of two variables material. The type of research was the development of research (Research and Development), which consists of stages are literature, study, observation, interviews, development of student worksheets. After Revised, the student worksheets were evaluated by a field test in a small and large scale. The scale from both are 70,66% and 75,08 % respectively. It is concluded that problem based student worksheet to improve mathematical literacy skill can be used and distributed as a learning material in mathematics learning for junior high school.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis penting dimiliki mahasiswa calon guru matematika. Fakta menunjukkan bahwa perhatian pada cara berpikir kritis mahasiswa masih kurang. Hal ini berdampak pada rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis bagaimana cara berpikir kritis mahasiswa calon guru matematika dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan yang diberikan. Desain yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif, dengan partisipan 16 mahasiswa semester III program studi pendidikan matematika di salah satu perguruan tinggi swasta di Indonesia. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui uji instrumen berbentuk tes uraian kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis. Analisis data dilakukan dalam tiga langkah yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat beberapa cara berpikir kritis yang dilakukan oleh partisipan dalam menyelesaikan suatu permasalahan. Pada bagian membuktikan, variasi cara berpikir yang dilakukan partisipan terdiri dari tiga cara; pada bagian menggeneralisasi terdiri dari dua cara; pada bagian mempertimbangkan alternatif jawaban terdiri dari tiga cara; dan pada bagian memecahkan masalah terdiri dari tiga cara. Cara berpikir kritis tersebut diharapkan menjadi titik awal yang perlu diperhatikan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis.Critical thinking skills are important for pre-service mathematics teachers. The facts show that attention to pre-service mathematics teachers ' critical thinking is still lacking. It has an impact on the low ability to think critically. This study aims to analyze how pre-service mathematics teachers think critically about mathematics in solving the problems given. The design used is descriptive qualitative, with 16 third semester students participating in the mathematics education study program at a private university in Indonesia. Data collected through an instrument test in the form of a description test of mathematical critical thinking skills. Data analysis was in three steps, reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results show that there are several ways of thinking critically by the participants in solving a problem. In the proving section, the variation in the way participants think consists of three ways; in the generalization, section consists of two ways; in the section considering alternative answers consists of three ways, and in the problem-solving section consists of three ways. This critical thinking is expected to be a starting point that needs to be considered to improve critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the basic skills of teaching fiveth semester students of the Mathematic Education study program Serang Raya University 2020/2021 academic year through the application of peer teaching simulation based on Eksperiential Learning technique. The subjects in this study were the fiveth semester students of the Mathematic Education Study Program 2020/2021 academic year totaling 31 people. The data in this study were collected by tests and the results were analyzed quantitatively supported by qualitative interpretations. The results show that the application of peer teaching simulation with Eksperiential Learning technique can improve the basic teaching skills of the sixth semester students of the Mathematic Education Study Program Serang Raya University 2020/2021 academic year from the percentage of success in the first cycle of 87,10% to 93,55% in cycle to 74, 97 in the second cycle. Therefore, the application of peer teaching simulation with eksperiential learning technique is recommended to be used in lectures that target the formation of skills or competencies of prospective teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate primary school students’ mathematical thinking in column calculation and algorithms. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The participants of this research were twelve Indonesian primary school students at grade 3 and 4 in Ciparay, Bandung, West Java. They worked to solve calculation and algorithm questions developed from TAL TEAM book Freudenthal Institute, Utrecht University, The Netherlands that were classified based on the strategies used. After analyzing their written works, interviews were organized to acquire further information about their mathematical thinking. The study found that students’ strategies in dealing with calculation algorithm consist of three strategies. The first strategy is the splitting strategy from units to tens column and then the interim results are combined. The second strategy is the splitting strategy used from tens to unit column and the interim results are added vertically digit-by-digit. The third strategy is the transition from splitting strategy from units to tens column consists primarily of using abbreviated column calculation for the interim results in each column. In addition, several students made common mistakes due to misconception about algorithm and arithmetical problems. Implication of this research for teaching and learning calculation and algorithms were described elaborately.

Abstract

Mengembangkan dan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi atau higher order thinking skills (HOTS) siswa adalah salah satu tujuan utama pembelajaran pada abad 21. HOTS merupakan suatu proses berpikir peserta didik dalam level kognitif yang lebih tinggi yaitu kemampuan pemecahan masalah, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, berpikir kritis, kemampuan berargumen, dan kemampuan mengambil keputusan. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan HOTS matematika siswa, dibutuhkan instrumen yang memenuhi kriteria HOTS dan instrumen tersebut dapat mengembangkan dan meningkatkan kemampuan HOTS siswa. Oleh karena ini, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan instrumen pembelajaran berbasis HOTS dengan bantuan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah pada materi translasi. Instrumen yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid dan efektif sehingga diharapkan instrumen ini bisa menjadi inspirasi bagi guru dan mahasiswa calon pendidik matematika. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan prosedur ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Hasil dari penelitian ini berupa RPP, LKPD, instrument asesmen berupa soal HOTS, dan meningkatnya kemampuan HOTS siswa yang terlihat dari hasil perbandingan nilai siswa sebelum dan setelah diterapkannya model pembelajaran berbasis masalah-HOTS. Selain itu, siswa menjadi terbiasa berpikir tingkat tinggi sehingga mampu menyelesaikan setiap permasalahan matematika yang diberikan. Karakteristik produk pembelajaran berbasis masalah-HOTS yang dikembangkan adalah 1) mengukur kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi, dimana dibutuhkan kreativitas siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal HOTS, 2) berbasis kontekstual, dan 3) menggunakan bentuk soal yang beragam.
