Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing the speaking confidence of secondary school students at UPT SMA Negeri 1 Sidrap. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach focusing on students’ experiences and perceptions in the process of learning English. The participants of the study were eleventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling. The data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and documentation to obtain comprehensive information regarding the factors affecting students’ speaking confidence. The findings reveal that students’ speaking confidence is influenced by two main categories of factors, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include language proficiency, previous speaking experience, and psychological aspects such as self-confidence, anxiety, and personality. Meanwhile, external factors include the teacher’s role, teaching methods, learning materials and media, peer support, and classroom atmosphere. The analysis demonstrates that students' speaking confidence is fundamentally influenced by the interplay of internal and external dimensions. Internally, the primary obstacles originate from linguistic deficiencies (specifically in vocabulary and grammar) alongside psychological barriers such as shyness and apprehension. Conversely, externally, the teacher's pedagogical approach and instructional methods emerge as the most impactful drivers. The integration of creative media and a supportive classroom climate significantly mitigate the fear of social judgment, thereby lowering students' internal anxiety. In conclusion, while internal readiness poses a challenge, a safe and encouraging external environment serves as the vital catalyst for improving students' confidence in oral English communication.

Abstract

This study explored the development and application of an adaptive AI framework for dynamic Sharia compliance within the Indonesian Islamic finance sector, all from an ethical and religious perspective. Our investigation was grounded in the historical evolution of Sharia compliance principles in Indonesia, recognizing the nuanced shifts and factors influencing these changes over time. We conducted an in-depth examination of the current landscape of AI in Islamic finance globally and assessed its adoption within the Indonesian context. We focused on how AI technologies can effectively address the challenges posed by the evolving interpretations of Sharia principles. The core of this research centered on developing a specialized AI-powered Sharia compliance framework. This framework was designed to be flexible and responsive to changes in Sharia regulations and principles, ensuring ongoing compliance while adhering to ethical and religious guidelines. We also scrutinized the ethical and religious implications of deploying AI in the Islamic finance sector, considering the perspectives of scholars, practitioners, and religious authorities. Additionally, we delved into the existing legal and regulatory framework surrounding AI applications in Indonesian Islamic finance. Our study featured case studies of Indonesian Islamic financial institutions that have adopted AI-driven compliance systems. These case studies provided valuable insights into the real-world impact of AI on ethical practices and religious adherence within the industry. Ultimately, our findings shed light on the potential of AI to facilitate dynamic Sharia compliance while adhering to ethical and religious principles, contributing to the ongoing growth and sustainability of Islamic finance in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study investigates how parenting styles shape students’ motivation to learn English in an Indonesian vocational high school. Adopting a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study involved seven students, seven parents, and two English teachers. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and field notes, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that students’ motivation was dynamic and context-dependent, with stronger engagement at school than at home. In the classroom, motivation was reflected in active participation, peer interaction, persistence, and future-oriented goals. At home, motivation tended to weaken because of limited parental monitoring and the lack of structured learning routines. Although parents provided little direct academic supervision, they influenced motivation indirectly through reminders, encouragement, recognition of effort, and support for study time and space. These practices supported students’ needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness. In addition, teacher support, classroom climate, peer interaction, and future aspirations played a compensatory role when home support was limited. The study contributes to the EFL motivation literature by showing that motivation is both psychologically experienced and behaviorally observable, emerging through the interaction of family practices, school environment, and personal goals.

Abstract

The most crucial element for educators to consider when trying to enhance learning is motivation. Many educators have contributed their research on how to increase students' motivation. One of the most crucial goals on a daily basis is it. Students who are conceptualized learn, perform well in job, have a strong desire to get involved and motivated, and succeed in school. This essay discusses the traits of primary pupils, the function of the primary English teacher, and the methods used by teachers to inspire students to learn English. Getting kids motivated can be done in three different ways: extrinsic, intrinsic, and group motivation. It is determined that TPR, using songs, and playing games are effective techniques for kids to develop intrinsic motivation. Achieving extrinsic motivation is divided into "external regulation, interjected regulation, and identified regulation" depending on how powerful or weak it is. The last factor is group motivation, which is highly significant in language teaching that takes place in the classroom. Therefore, it is advisable for English teachers in elementary schools to foster an environment where students feel motivated and engaged.
