Abstract

This research aimed to improve the listening ability of the students of SMPN 1 Maiwa by using English Movies. The problem statements were: 1). to what extent may the students improve their listening ability through using English Movies? 2). to what extent is the students’ attitude toward the application of using English Movies? The objectives of the research were to find out whether or not English Movies can improve the students’ listening ability and to find out the students’ attitude toward the application of using English Movies in improving their listening ability. The researcher applied pre-experimental method. The population of the research was the students of SMPN 1 Maiwa in academic Year 2018/2019 which consists of 20 students. Ten students from the first class and ten students from the second class. The writer used random sampling in taking the sample. The researcher used tests and questionnaire to collect data. The researcher distributed listening test through pretest and posttest and she distributed questionnaire to collect information about their attitude toward the application of using English Movies. The result of the research showed that the students’ listening ability had poor score in pretest. After treatment, their listening ability is significantly increased. It can be seen from their score that changed became good. The data analyzed using t-test showed that the value of t-test is higher than t-table (7.98>2.093). It can be concluded that English Movies is effective in improving the students’ listening ability. Data from questionnaire showed that students have positive attitude toward the application of using English Movies.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a theoretical framework that enhances the role of forensic accounting in preventing financial fraud within increasingly digitized financial environments. With the rise of cyber-enabled fraud schemes such as identity spoofing, algorithmic manipulation, and blockchain-based laundering, traditional models like the fraud triangle and fraud diamond are no longer sufficient as standalone tools. To address this, the research applies a qualitative library research method, utilizing a systematic literature review from academic databases, professional reports, and recent scholarly publications (2018–2024). The analysis reveals that while forensic accounting theories remain relevant, they require integration with digital tools such as AI, big data analytics, and blockchain to detect and prevent modern fraud effectively. One of the study’s key findings is the lack of standardized protocols and cross-disciplinary frameworks that merge behavioral fraud theory with real-time forensic technologies. The novelty of this research lies in its proposal to reposition forensic accounting from a reactive to a proactive model by synthesizing insights from accounting, IT governance, and risk management. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the need to modernize forensic education and regulatory infrastructure, particularly in developing economies, to close the implementation gap. In conclusion, this research contributes a comprehensive and adaptive theoretical foundation that aligns forensic accounting with the dynamics of digital financial ecosystems, offering practical relevance for academics, practitioners, and policymakers in addressing global fraud challenges.

Abstract

This study examines the strategies used by lecturers to address the digital divide in online English language learning in the English Language Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah University of Sidenreng Rappang. A qualitative approach was employed, and data were collected through structured interviews with lecturers and students. The findings show that lecturers apply several strategies, including designing inclusive learning activities, promoting student collaboration, offering technical support, and facilitating the development of digital skills. The implementation of these strategies is supported by the availability of digital platforms and institutional facilities. However, limitations in internet access, varying levels of student digital literacy, and challenges in maintaining focus during online learning continue to pose obstacles. Overall, the study highlights the importance of lecturer readiness, institutional support, and student initiative in reducing the digital divide and improving the quality of online English language learning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of digital tools in values education to support character development among elementary school students. In response to the increasing demand for 21st-century moral competencies, this research conducts a systematic literature review focusing on strategies, challenges, and innovations in digital-based character education. Using qualitative content analysis of 22 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025, the study identifies recurring patterns and contextual differences in the implementation of values learning across various countries. The findings highlight that approaches such as digital storytelling, gamified moral tasks, and project-based learning significantly foster student engagement, empathy, and ethical reasoning. However, key challenges remain, including inadequate teacher training, culturally irrelevant content, and limited infrastructure. The novelty of this research lies in its ecosystemic perspective, proposing a holistic framework that links pedagogy, technology, school culture, and local wisdom into one cohesive character education model. Unlike previous studies that isolate digital literacy from moral development, this research emphasizes participatory learning and student co-creation of values-based digital content. The study also introduces the concept of “contextual moral engagement,” where values are integrated into students’ daily lives through culturally grounded digital practices. In conclusion, digital integration in values education should move beyond tool-based interventions toward holistic, culture-sensitive, and participatory frameworks that empower students as moral agents in the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of digital media in fostering civic literacy among high school students in the context of ongoing social transformation. As youth increasingly engage with digital platforms, this research seeks to understand how these technologies can be pedagogically leveraged to enhance students’ civic knowledge, critical thinking, and participatory skills. Employing a structured literature review as the primary method, the study systematically analyzes scholarly sources published between 2020 and 2025 to synthesize findings on the intersection of digital literacy and civic education. Results reveal that digital media—when used with intentional pedagogical design—can significantly improve civic awareness, ethical reasoning, and active engagement among students. However, disparities in access, teacher readiness, and curriculum integration remain persistent challenges. The novelty of this study lies in its integrated approach: positioning digital media not merely as a technological tool, but as a civic space that requires guided participation and critical engagement. It also contributes methodologically by offering a thematic synthesis of recent empirical findings specific to high school learners, a group often overlooked in digital citizenship discourse. The study concludes that fostering meaningful digital citizenship requires more than digital access; it demands targeted strategies that align media use with civic goals. Findings from this research are expected to inform educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers in designing inclusive and transformative civic education models suitable for 21st-century learners.

Abstract

This study explores the opportunities and threats of digital tools in English Language Teaching (ELT) from the perspective of university students. Using a mixed-method approach that combined qualitative interviews and quantitative questionnaires, the research identifies both the benefits and challenges of digital learning environments. Findings reveal that approximately 80% of respondents perceived digital tools as beneficial for improving accessibility and motivation, while nearly 60% reported distractions and technical issues as key obstacles. Theoretically, the study draws on constructivist learning theory, which posits that technology supports learner autonomy when accompanied by meaningful interaction. The results highlight the dual nature of digital learning—its ability to enhance engagement while simultaneously creating new barriers to effective communication and focus. This study contributes to the growing discourse on digital pedagogy by offering contextual insights into ELT students’ experiences, providing practical implications for educators and policymakers seeking to optimize digital learning environments in higher education.

Abstract

This study investigates how university students utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning from a digital literacy perspective. Conducted between February–April 2024, the research involved nine undergraduate students from Universitas Ichsan Sidenreng Rappang who actively used AI tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and Duolingo in their daily learning practices. Using a qualitative thematic analysis, the study explored students’ experiences, challenges, and expectations regarding AI-supported EFL learning. Findings show that AI contributed substantially to improving students’ vocabulary, grammar accuracy, and speaking fluency, with several participants reporting that AI-based feedback helped them understand errors more quickly and increased their learning motivation—some estimating up to a 20–30% improvement in confidence and task completion efficiency. However, issues such as inconsistent responses, fabricated references, and overreliance on AI revealed gaps in students’ critical digital literacy. The study highlights the need for strengthened digital literacy training and more structured integration of AI tools in higher education to ensure ethical, accurate, and effective use of AI for language learning.
