Abstract

The insurance industry is a form of a business entity engaged in services that has a social role as well as an economic role. In order to realize maximum results, every insurance industry certainly requires superior human resources to develop and market its processes. This also cannot be separated from the role and performance of the Underwriter, who plays an important role in evaluating whether prospective insurance members are acceptable or not in order to meet the goals of the insurance industry. According to research findings, the underwriter’s performance plays an important role in determining prospective members of the Motorkoe insurance process, namely: collecting customer information, carrying out data verification, carrying out appraisals, and submitting company decisions. This paper aims to find out how the underwriter performs in determining potential participants in Motorkoe insurance products and the factors that influence underwriter performance in Motorkoe insurance products. This research was conducted at PT. Bumida 1967 Medan branch. This type of research uses a qualitative approach and a descriptive method. While the data collection techniques used by researchers are interviews, observation as well as documentation. The results of this study describe that performance in determining potential participants in Motorkoe insurance products has been running as efficiently as possible. Judging from the underwriting surplus, it can be used as a reserve, thereby increasing public interest in general insurance. The surplus results obtained by Bumida Medan Branch in the Motorkoe process in 2022 amounted to 37,080,000, 00 with 181 processes in the Motorkoe process worth 51,080,000.00 with 1 claim member of 14,000,000.00 and with a Motorkoe total loss ratio which embodies the figure of -27%. The factors that influence the underwriter’s performance are: 1) Age, 2) Work motivation, 3) Health, 4) Targets set by the company, and 5) Understanding of the activities carried out.

Abstract

The aim and direction of the research is to look at the causal or causal relationship between the independent (free) variables which consist of Economic Growth, Unemployment, and Inflation, and the dependent (bound) variable, namely poverty. The type of data used in this study is secondary data (Time Series The secondary data used in this study comes from various related agencies such as the Publication of the Central Statistics Agency which is accessed through the official website, as well as government agencies that can support this research data. Data collection techniques use a field research approach by collecting data from the variables Economic Growth, Unemployment, Inflation, as well as poverty obtained in processed form sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of North Sumatra Province. In the t-test results, the variable Economic Growth on Poverty has a probability of 0.0387 < 0.05, so it can be said that the variable Economic Growth (x1) has a (significant) influence on poverty. The unemployment variable on poverty has a probability of 0.0248 <0.05, so it can be said that the unemployment variable (x2) has a (significant) influence on poverty. Also, the t-test results for the inflation variable on poverty have a probability of 0.8839 > 0.05, so it can be said that the inflation variable (x3) has no effect (not significant) on poverty. Meanwhile, based on the output results processed using Eviews 10 software, the calculated F value is 91.27120 while the F table with a level of α = 5% is 2.37. Thus F count > F table (91.27120 > 2.37), then it can also be seen from the probability value of 0.000000 which is smaller than the significance level of 0.05. This shows that the variables of Economic Growth, Unemployment, and Inflation together the same (simultaneously) have a significant effect on poverty in North Sumatra.

Abstract

It can be seen that MSMEs are one of the sectors of economic activity that survive and have sustainability. One area that has MSMEs that still survive today is North Sumatra, specifically Pasar Bengkel Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. Pasar Bengkel Village is a favorite place for residents and travelers who like local snacks or culinary specialties. However, now the Dodol MSME culinary center will be a distant memory due to declining demand and purchasing power. Also, Dodol micro business actors in the Bengkel Village area have complained about the reduction in the sales value of their Dodol products since the operation of the Medan-Tebing Tinggi toll road. The reason is that many transport passengers and car drivers don’t have time to stop because they are crossing the toll lane. This makes consumers or buyers reluctant to stop by this Bengkel market, resulting in low turnover, resulting in dozens of stalls being closed. This research aims to determine the influence of product innovation, product sales methods, information technology, market share, ethics of honesty and transparency, and halal products on the sustainability of the micro business Dodol Snack Center Pasar Bengkel simultaneously. This research uses a quantitative research approach with multiple regression methods. The number of samples in this research was 68 MSME entrepreneurs of Pasar Bengkel Dodol Snacks. This research shows that there is a significant influence of product innovation, market share, and product halalness on the sustainability of the Pasar Bengkel Dodol Snack Center micro-enterprise.

Abstract

Financial institutions have a very important role in a country’s economy which allows millions of funds (surplus units) to be collected and transferred to various other segments of society (deficit units) which can be used as investment capital. The role of credit or financing in investment and increasing income/welfare, and based on the experience of the economic crisis and global financial crisis which were also caused by banking credit. This article aims to review the ability of conventional banking and Sharia banking to provide long-term prosperity in North Sumatra by looking at inflation, exchange rates, money supply, Sharia banking financing, and current account loans, toward North Sumatra’s Gross Regional Domestic Product and the period when it reaches balance. Mixed methods research combines quantitative methods and qualitative methods to be used together in this research. The research population is all data published in the central OJK and BPS (North Sumatra Province Central Statistics Agency), and the sample taken is data that includes all variables during the 2015-2020 period. Analysis of the VAR (Vactor Autoregression) model as an alternative model to multiple equations to minimize the theoretical approach and make economic phenomena better. The result is that there are several negative influence measurement results on the inflation variable and current account loan credit. Meanwhile, the variables of money supply, exchange rate, sharia banking financing have a positive and significant positive influence on North Sumatra’s GRDP. So, the banking VECM test has a role in increasing North Sumatra’s GRDP in both the short and long term

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding green mussel shell powder (CKH) on the fire resistance of Fiberglass composite materials used in fishing vessel hulls under 5 GT. The composite was made using the hand lay-up method with variations in CKH composition of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. Testing was carried out using the ASTM D635 standard to determine the burning rate. Statistical analysis using logistic regression to determine the linear relationship between variables. Statistically, logistic regression states a p-value <0.05 and is suitable as a reference model to determine the value of CKH powder composition with the burning rate of the material. This study shows that specimens with the addition of 20% CKH increase fire resistance by 8.56% (13.10 mm/min), while the addition of 50% CKH increases up to 19.92% (11.47 mm/min). So that the more CKH composition additions can increase the fire resistance of the material. These results indicate that CKH waste has the potential as an environmentally friendly additive that improves ship safety.

Abstract

Contemporary production theory is often trapped in the profit maximization paradigm that ignores moral aspects and environmental sustainability. This study aims to reconstruct production theory through the perspective of Maqashid Sharia in realizing holistic economic welfare. This research is descriptive-analytical and normative-conceptual, namely by critically examining conventional production theory and Islamic economics, then reconstructing it based on the Maqashid Sharia framework. The results of the study show that production in the Maqashid Sharia perspective is not only oriented towards material output, but must include protection of five main elements, namely the five main objectives of Islamic law: protecting religion (din), soul (nafs), reason (aql), descendants (nasl), and property (mal). This reconstruction produces a production model oriented towards maslahah, where economic welfare is achieved through a balance between fulfilling material needs and maintaining spiritual and social values
