Abstract

Stunting is a condition of children with a type of short stature caused by chronic malnutrition which is related to low socio-economic conditions, lack of nutritional intake, poor maternal health, a history of recurrent illnesses, and child feeding practices that do not meet standards. Stunting can be prevented through optimizing nutrition and health, namely home visit nutritional interventions by health workers. Home visits by health workers or trained cadres carried out during pregnancy or after the baby is born aim to educate parents directly and intensely. A review of the journal is necessary to find out the benefits of home visit interventions in reducing stunting so that the stunting problem in Indonesia can be resolved in an effective way. The method used in this research, the Systemic Literature Review (SLR), comes from national journals and international journals regarding the benefits of home visit interventions in the 2014-2024 time period. The results obtained from this study are that home visits can effectively increase mothers' knowledge and health behavior in caring for their babies and increase fathers' confidence in caring for children. Furthermore, due to the provision of correct parenting practices from health workers to families, home visits have been proven to be able to prevent stunting, increase weight gain, height, and child development scores, be able to increase the average IQ (Intelligence Quotient) score, children's executive function, and make children have higher pre-academic skills.

Abstract

Typhoid fever is one of the infectious diseases that has a fairly high morbidity and mortality rate, especially in developing countries, especially in Indonesia. Typhoid fever is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Salmonella typhi. This disease can be transmitted through consuming water or food contaminated with urine and feces from typhoid fever sufferers, for example, water that will be used for drinking, cooking, or washing food ingredients. There are more serious clinical symptoms, such as high fever or hyperthermia, remittent fever, and decreased level of consciousness that can lead to coma or delirium. Further complications such as dehydration and acidosis can also occur, which have negative impacts in cases of typhoid fever. The purpose of this review article is to determine what personal and environmental risk factors are present in the occurrence of typhoid fever. The method used in this study is a review article with specific research of various articles found, then combined and a summary conclusion is drawn. The journals used have been published for the past 5 years (2019-2024). The results and conclusions show that several personal and environmental risk factors in the occurrence of typhoid fever include age, gender, personal hygiene, and clean water sources.

Abstract

Stunting refers to short or very short stature based on length or height for age that is less than -2 standard deviations on the WHO growth curve. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that 22.2% or 149.2 million children under 5 years old suffered from stunting in 2020. Stunting is caused by two factors: direct and indirect factors. This study aims to examine the relationship between the father's type of occupation and the mother's employment status with the incidence of stunting in the working area of the Seputih Surabaya Public Health Center, Central Lampung. The study employed a cross-sectional design, with a sample of 57 toddlers from the Seputih Surabaya Subdistrict, Central Lampung Regency. The research was conducted from September to November 2024. The sampling technique used proportional random sampling and simple random sampling. This study utilized consent forms containing statements of willingness to participate as respondents, and data collection was conducted using questionnaires. The questionnaire included questions about the father’s type of occupation (e.g., farmer, civil servant, entrepreneur/trader, accountant, livestock farmer, fisherman, employee, teacher, or unemployed) and the mother’s employment status (working or not working). The data were analyzed univariately. The results showed that among toddlers with stunting, the most common type of father's occupation was farming, involving 33 children (58%). Regarding the mother’s employment status, the majority of stunted toddlers had mothers who were not working, accounting for 35 children (61.4%).

Abstract

The geological structural patterns and hydrothermal alteration zones of Atauro Island, Timor-Leste, which are influenced by the collision mechanism between the Banda Arc and the Australian Continent, are the subject of this study. The study identifies fault types and alteration zones through stereographic analysis. It indicates the possibility of mineralization in the area. Four alteration zones were identified in this study: argillic, Propylitic, calcosite, and geotite. The analysis results show that left-striking and normal faulting were essential in forming these zones. The mineralization zones, mainly chalcopyrite and chalcocite, are related to the north-northeast trending left horizontal Fault. In addition, this study suggests additional research that includes mineralogy, geochemical, and geophysical analyses to understand more about the characteristics of hydrothermal alteration zones and possible mineralization on Atauro Island. The results of this study are expected to improve our understanding of mineral resources in the region, and it is suggested that this information be considered by authorities responsible for the management of potential natural resources on Atauro Island, Timor.
