Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the context of local content curricula in vocational health schools with a religious dimension. A qualitative approach was chosen to examine this study through case studies at eight vocational health schools located in three provinces in Sumatra: West Sumatra, Riau, and Jambi. The study was conducted from 2023 to 2024. Data collection was conducted through interviews with nine informants, including school principals and vice principals, and through questionnaires completed by 27 respondents, comprising vocational, general, and religious subject teachers. Qualitative analysis was conducted by organizing data based on the implementation of local subjects in vocational health schools. The selected data were presented as visualized themes using a project map from NVivo 12 and a Google form chart diagram completed by teachers. This study found that the first step in developing a local subject is to conduct a curriculum context analysis, which includes education providers and user communities. The implications of this study can be used as a framework for developing a religious local subject in educational institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between tadarus al-Qur’an practices and students’ Qur’anic reading fluency within the context of Islamic secondary education. Employing a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from 31 students at madrasah through structured questionnaires measuring the intensity of tadarus activities and indicators of reading fluency, including tajwid accuracy, articulation, rhythm, and reading confidence. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The findings reveal a statistically significant positive relationship between participation in tadarus al-Qur’an and students’ reading fluency (t = 4.225, p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.357) indicates that tadarus activities account for 35.7% of the variance in reading fluency, suggesting a moderate explanatory contribution. These results indicate that structured and consistent tadarus, supported by active teacher guidance, contributes to the development of students’ fluency in Qur’anic reading, particularly in terms of pronunciation accuracy, application of tajwid rules, and reading confidence. This study lies in specifically conceptualizes Qur’anic reading fluency as a multidimensional construct encompassing phonetic accuracy, rhythmic control, and confidence, rather than treating it as general reading ability. It positions tadarus al-Qur’an not merely as a ritual or habitual activity, but as a structured pedagogical practice grounded in repetition, guidance, and skill internalization. The study provides empirical evidence from the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level, which remains underexplored in previous research, particularly in relation to the integration of habituation-based learning and instructional structuring. However, the findings also suggest that reading fluency is influenced by additional factors beyond tadarus practices, including individual learning motivation and independent reading habits. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic education by offering a more nuanced understanding of tadarus as a pedagogically meaningful strategy for enhancing Qur’anic literacy. The findings provide empirical and conceptual insights for improving Qur’anic learning practices in madrasah contexts through structured and sustainable approaches.

Abstract

The persistence of teacher-centered and memorization-oriented approaches in fiqh education has limited students’ conceptual understanding and critical engagement with Islamic legal knowledge, particularly within contemporary digital contexts. This study aims to examine the implementation of a deep learning pedagogical approach in fiqh instruction at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level and its impact on students’ conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis involving teachers and students at madrasah tsanawiyah. The findings reveal that deep learning fosters an interactive, contextual, and student-centered learning environment, significantly enhancing students’ ability to analyze legal sources, relate fiqh concepts to everyday practices, and engage in collaborative reasoning. Despite these positive outcomes, the study is constrained by limited infrastructure, the absence of quantitative validation, and varying levels of teacher readiness. These limitations suggest the need for institutional support and professional development to sustain pedagogical transformation. The study implies that integrating deep learning with Islamic educational values can strengthen both cognitive and ethical dimensions of learning. The novelty of this research lies in conceptualizing deep learning as a holistic Islamic pedagogical framework that integrates case-based inquiry, digital literacy, and value internalization in fiqh education

Abstract

Purpose – This study investigates the factors influencing network simulator acceptance and its direct impact on learning outcomes within the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering. It addresses the gap between technology adoption and actual academic success in a technical vocational context. Design/methods/approach – A quantitative approach using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was applied. Data from 187 students were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4.0, employing a 5,000-resample bootstrapping procedure. Findings – Results confirm that Perceived Usefulness significantly drives Behavioral Intention (β= 0.774, p < 0.001), while Perceived Ease of Use is non-significant (β = 0.150, p = 0.166). Crucially, Behavioral Intention strongly predicts Learning Outcomes (β = 0.849, p < 0.001). The model exhibits substantial predictive power, explaining 83% of the variance in intention (R2 = 0.830) and 72.1% in learning outcomes (R2 = 0.721). Research implications/limitations – Engineering pedagogy should prioritize demonstrating the industrial utility of simulators over interface simplicity. Limitations include the cross-sectional design and reliance on self-reported data within a single department, which may affect generalizability. Originality/value – This research empirically bridges technology acceptance with tangible academic performance in the Indonesian technical education context. It provides a validated framework for enhancing technical competencies through strategic tool integration.

Abstract

The phenomenon of declining student participation in organizational activities is the background of this study, which aims to examine the relationship between organizational culture and organizational interest by reviewing aspects of student participation. This study applies a quantitative approach through a correlational and comparative test design involving 100 students aged 18-25 years as respondents through an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert scale and analyzed using the Anacova test, Product Moment Correlation, Independent Sample t-Test, and Mann-Whitney. The results of the statistical analysis show that organizational culture has a significant influence on organizational interest (F = 28.669; p = 0.000) with a positive correlation of 0.398. Furthermore, the participation factor is proven to strengthen the relationship (F = 63.334; p = 0.000). Comparative findings show a significant difference in the level of organizational interest between active students (Mean = 84.34) and inactive students (Mean = 72.68), but interestingly there was no difference in perceptions of organizational culture between the two groups (p = 0.552). It was concluded that although perceptions of organizational culture were felt evenly, the experience of direct involvement was the main determinant of high interest, so that higher education strategies need to be focused on strengthening a positive, inclusive culture to encourage active student participation.

Abstract

This study proposes a reconstruction of Islamic social education by re-evaluating the concept of Zakat through the lens of Tafsir Al-Qur’an Al-Majid An-Nur by Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy. While Zakat is traditionally taught as a static pillar of jurisprudence (fiqh), this research identifies a critical pedagogical gap: its potential as a catalyst for social transformation remains underutilised. Employing a qualitative library research methodology, the study performs a thematic excavation of Zakat-related exegesis in Ash-Shiddieqy’s work, synthesising classical interpretations with modern social education theories. The findings reveal a “Qur’anic Sunnah” that inextricably links prayer (Salah) to Zakat, forming a dual mission of individual spiritual growth and collective societal improvement. Ash-Shiddieqy’s exegesis presents Zakat as a sophisticated instrument of thaharah (purification) across three dimensions: wealth, the soul, and the community. Furthermore, the study highlights an educational “shock therapy” in the text, in which the enforcement of Zakat, symbolised by the historical precedent of the first Caliphate, establishes an absolute social contract that transcends individual property rights. By expanding the interpretation of the eight asnaf (beneficiaries) into a framework for sustainable community development, this research offers a novel social-educational paradigm. The study concludes that reconstructing Islamic education through the Zakat concept shifts the pedagogical focus from passive ritualism to active orthopraxis, providing a humanistic framework essential for addressing contemporary moral crises and achieving structural social justice.

Abstract

Pro‑cyclical and non‑cyclical sectors generate markedly different revenue patterns, a distinction that may influence firms’ willingness to share profits with investors. This study examines whether ownership structure and key financial variables influence dividend policy in Indonesia’s pro-cyclical manufacturing and non-cyclical consumer goods industries. Using a balanced panel of 435 firm-year observations (2015–2019) and fixed-effects panel regression, we examine the impact of family ownership, managerial compensation, leverage, and profitability on the dividend payout ratio. Sector‑specific results emerge. In consumer‑goods companies, higher managerial compensation significantly increases the dividend payout ratio, whereas greater leverage dampens it; family ownership and profitability are insignificant. In manufacturing firms, family ownership increases the dividend payout ratio, while leverage and profitability decrease it; managerial compensation has no significant impact. The findings help income‑oriented investors select suitable sectors, guide regulators in tailoring governance codes, and extend agency and signaling research to contrasting industry characteristics.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Scout activity guide based on local wisdom and religious moderation at MTsN Agam Regency. The main issue faced is the lack of integration of local wisdom values and the principles of religious moderation into Scout activities, which could strengthen students' character, particularly in fostering tolerance and unity. The approach used in this study is Research and Development (R&D) with the Four-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The first stage, Define, was conducted through needs analysis via observations, interviews with Scout leaders and students, and documentation of Scout activities. The analysis results indicated the need for a guide that integrates Minangkabau local wisdom and religious moderation into Scout activities. The second stage, Design, resulted in a guide design that includes activities based on local values such as pasambahan, makan bajamba, and musyawarah nagari. In the Develop stage, the designed guide was trialed at four MTsN in Agam Regency, with an average practicality score of 0.90, indicating that the guide is highly practical and well-received. The final stage, Disseminate, involved socialization and training for Scout leaders, ensuring the broader application of the guide. The expert validation score reached 88.5%, and the trial results showed an improvement in students' understanding, with an average posttest score of 91.08. Based on these findings, the study concludes that the integration of local wisdom and religious moderation in Scout extracurricular activities is effective in developing a more tolerant and responsible student character. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of character education based on local culture, relevant to global challenges, and supports the formation of a more inclusive and harmonious society.
