Abstract

This article examines the management of faculty development at STIBA Makassar as a strategic foundation for strengthening the Tridarma of higher education. The study aims to analyze specific dimensions of faculty development—pedagogical competence, research productivity, and career advancement—while assessing management aspects such as budgetary allocation, supervisory consistency, and institutional incentive systems. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving ten informants selected through purposive sampling, including institutional leaders, department heads, and senior lecturers. Data analysis followed a thematic approach with an inductive-deductive coding process, ensuring trustworthiness through source triangulation. The findings reveal that while STIBA Makassar demonstrates strong institutional commitment, implementation faces structural hurdles, including budget constraints and excessive teaching workloads that stifle research productivity. However, the P3M unit has shown progress through AI-based writing and OJS digitalization. By synthesizing these findings with Human Resource Development and Motivation theories, this research contributes a Hybrid Management Model that integrates modern professional accountability with traditional Islamic institutional values. These results provide a strategic roadmap for building a sustainable, quality-oriented faculty development system in pesantren-based institutions.

Abstract

Learning world history in English using an international curriculum (Pearson Edexcel) poses difficulties for elementary school students. At Makassar Independent School (MIS), innovative learning methods are needed to help students understand complex historical material while keeping it engaging and accessible. This study intends to describe the role of creative arts, particularly drawing, as a pedagogical approach in teaching history in English. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects involved students in grades 2, 4, and 5 in history at Makassar Independent School. Data was collected through classroom observations to see how arts integration was carried out in the learning process. The research findings indicate that teachers have implemented a combination of learning methods, such as inquiry-based learning, discussion, and interactive learning. Drawing served as the final medium of articulation through which students visually expressed their profound understanding of historical topics. Through drawing activities, students were more enthusiastic and able to absorb the subject matter more effectively even though the medium of instruction was English. This study contributes to interdisciplinary learning strategies (arts and history). The results confirm that fine arts can be used as a cognitive tool to validate students' understanding in collaborative schools while also serving as a reference for educators in creating more inclusive and creative history classes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the learning outcomes of the Basic Elements of Patterns in phase E and the learning outcomes of the Preparation Elements of Fashion Making in phase F in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at Vocational Schools of Fashion Expertise program. This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of ex post facto correlational research, because the variable data studied has occurred before the research was carried out. The population in this study consists of all students in grade XI of Fashion Dress at SMK YATPI Godong for the 2025/2026 Academic Year which totals 49 students and uses a total sampling technique where the entire population is used as a research sample. The research data was obtained through documentation of student learning outcomes in both learning elements. Data analysis began with a statistical descriptive test to describe the characteristics of the data, then continued with a normality test, and a Spearman Rank correlation test with the help of SPSS Statistics 26 extension. The results of the normality test showed that the data was not normally distributed, so the correlation analysis was carried out using Spearman Rank. The results showed a significant positive relationship between the learning outcomes of the Basic Elements of Patterns and the learning outcomes of the Elements of Preparation for Fashion Preparation with a significance value (Sig 2 tailed) of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of 0.618. These findings show that the mastery of basic competencies in phase E contributes to the achievement of advanced competencies in phase F. Thus, learning outcomes in each learning element in the Independent Curriculum are interrelated and sustainable, especially in learning Fashion at Vocational Schools.

Abstract

Contemporary fashion design is a creative approach that reflects current trends through innovative visual expressions. Currently, contemporary fashion is increasingly exploring the integration of historical fashion elements with visual interpretations of nature. In response to this context, this study aims to reinterpret historical elements in a contemporary context through the development of “Tirta Ardana” fashion, which integrates the voluminous bustier silhouette characteristic of the 18th-century Victorian era with contemporary aesthetics, drawing inspiration from ocean waves. The method used is practice-based research, adapted from the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) procedure. Technical innovations focus on the construction of an 8-panel bustier pattern and material optimization to achieve a stable and voluminous hourglass structure without excessive weight. Validation through feasibility testing by fashion experts resulted in an average score of 85.78%, categorizing the product as “Highly Feasible.” These findings confirm that the construction techniques and final quality of the “Tirta Ardana” successfully synergize contemporary aesthetics with functional stability optimally.

Abstract

The need for design innovation in the environmentally friendly craft industry, especially in non-textile media, has so far been minimally explored in academic literature and commercial practice. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the aesthetic and technical quality of the results of the application of ecoprint using teak leaves (Tectona grandis) on plastic tumblers through a steaming technique. This study uses an experimental method with a qualitative and quantitative descriptive approach through organoleptic tests involving 20 trained panelists with a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design. The independent variables in this study include three classifications of teak leaf age, namely shoots, young leaves, and old leaves, to determine which provides the most optimal pigmentation results and motif sharpness. The assessment instrument includes six main indicators: motif silhouette, fiber and texture, cleanliness of fold lines, color quality, shape harmony, and harmony of pattern arrangement. The results of statistical analysis show that the highest average score is obtained in the aspect of silhouette line clarity (item 1A) of 4.85, while the aspect of evenness and color suitability (item 4C) recorded the lowest score of 1.90. The Friedman Test results show an Asymp. Sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05, which proves that there is a significant difference in quality between the three leaf classifications. The research findings reveal that teak leaf buds provide the best aesthetic quality due to the high anthocyanin concentration and the flexibility of the leaf tissue that is able to adhere perfectly to the cylindrical geometry of the tumbler. In conclusion, the integration of ecoprint on the tumbler requires a precise coating and alum mordant fixation process to overcome the absorption constraints of non-textile media, while providing economic and ecological added value to national craft products.
