Background: Maternal health has become one barometer of achievement of a country, especially developing countries like Indonesia. AKI Indonesia is 359 per 100,000 live births, not in accordance with MDGs target in 2015 that is 102 deaths per 100,000 live births. One of the causes of high AKI is because mothers do not utilize Antenatal Care (ANC) visit. Antenatal Care (ANC) is a professional health service (doctors specialist, general practitioner, midwife, and nurse) for the mother during her pregnancy in accordance with antenatal care standards. Objective: The purpose of this research is to know factors related to maternity compliance in performing pregnancy examination and to correlate each factor with the compliance. Methods: Sample of this quantitative study was mother who experienced pregnancy and has child younger than 3 year old living in Sidorejo village. 30 samples were recruited and then asked to fill in questionnaire. The data were analysed by using Correlation Spearman. Results: Very weak relationship between 7 maternal attributes with their obedience regarding examination of pregnancy found in this study namely age 0.030, employment 0.067, health insurance ownership 0.089, parity 0.017, history of pregnancy examination 0.019, Family support 0.083, and culture -0.098, while incomes 0.247 and knowledge 0.222 attributes indicate weak relationship level. Background:There are still many incidents of school-age illness (6-14 years) that occur repeatedly over time because the child has not realized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for himself. Bad behavior habits in children will have an impact on efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Objective: To know the perception of children about their health and healthy life behavior that can be done, so as to prevent the incidence of recurrent illness that is often suffered by school-aged children, and become the impetus to make healthy lifestyles include children's perception of disease, behavior, and knowledge on health . Methods: Qualitative research with primary data collection techniques and secondary data. Respondents were 23 students of grade IV and V elementary school in Boyolali Regency who were chosen by purposive sampling according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Types of diseases that are often suffered by the respondents are disturbances of the digestive system, respiratory, urinary, and nervous system. Habitual things that are still done by respondents are buying unclean and unhealthy foods. Most of the respondents are still doing some physical movement activities done at school and at home by doing sports. Conclusions: The respondents are able to identify some of the diseases that have been experienced and the cause of the disease he suffered. The respondents are also able to explain the understanding of health and efforts to maintain health according to the knowledge they have, and be able to mention the criteria of healthy food, explain the behavior of clean living to be done, and apply the pattern of adequate rest. Background: Obesity is one of serious nutritional problems in Indonesia. Based on health profile of Central Java in 2015, Salatiga has the highest percentage of obesity problem counted 71.8% of 561,621 cases. Obesity in elderly are mostly caused by degenerative function of organs which lead to diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and heart disease. Objective: This study aimed to identify elders’ eating habits, their knowledge of obesity and to identify correlation between the knowledge and obesity. Methods: Observational survey technique by using interview, observation, and questionnaire method was employed to 89 respondents. Correlation among all variables was measured by utilizing Pearson Correlation Coefficient. Results: As many as 10.8% of elderly are obese. Their knowledge regarding Pedoman Gizi Seimbang (PGS) is in sufficient category (69,7%). The respondents had unhealthy eating habit by consuming high carbohydrates and fats which might influence the incidence of obesity. There is no statistical correlation between respondents' knowledge and eating habits (r=-0.37, p>0,05). Conclusion: Even though there is no statistical correlation between respondents’ knowledge and their eating habits, there might be other factors such as age, sex, education, occupation, socio-economic, and family roles that need to be investigated as influencing factors to the obesity incidence in this population. A number of studies show that studenents' approaches to learning are important elements to achieve success. Learning approache provides perspectives on the characterisics of good learners. Using R-SPQ-2F (Biggs, Kember, & Leung, 2001), a revised version of Biggs'(1987) Study Process Questionnaire (SPQ), this study attempted to explore the learning approaches of first year students of 2013 academic year at the Faculty of Language and Literature, of Satya Wacana Christian University. The purpose of the study was to find out if there was a correlation between the students' approaches to learning and their achievement in the Integrated Course (IC), and the profile of their approaches to learning English in the first semester. From 151 respondents participated in this study, it was found that, although weak, there was a positive correlation between students’ achievement scores and Deep Approach and a negative correlation between their IC scores and Surface Approach. This study also found that Deep Motive was associated with the students' achievement. However, from the findings of the students' profile based on SPQ indicated that the study could not predict the students at risk. Other factors could have affected the students' achievement in their learning.

The purpose of this study is to find out and describe the Incentives and Employee Performance at the Jambi City Mexsicana Hotel, and to determine the effect of the Incentives on the Employee Performance at the Jambi City Mexsicana Hotel. The type of data needed and collected in this study is quantitative data. The object of this study is the employee of the Mexsicana Hotel Jambi City. Sources of data in this study were employees of the City of Mexsicana Hotel Jambi taken through interviews by distributing questionnaires, data, and information obtained analyzed descriptively, to analyze employee responses to incentives for performance using a 5-choice scale. Based on the results of the regression analysis it was concluded that the regression equation Y = 32.316 + 0.154X + e. The correlation coefficient (R) of the independent variable is 0.767. This value indicates that the incentive relationship on Mexsicana Hotel Jambi Erat employees' performance is 0.767. While the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.589 it means that the variation of change in Y is influenced by changes in X by 58.9%. So the magnitude of the effect of incentives on the performance of employees of the City of Mexsicana Hotel Jambi is 58.9% while the remaining 41.1% is influenced by other factors outside this study. Partially, there is an effect of incentives on the performance of Mexicicana Hotel Jambi City employees. This is indicated by the value of incentive thitung of 2.171 and ttable of 2.034 from the comparison results it can be seen that tcount is greater than ttable (thitung> ttable). Then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. By comparing the magnitude of the level of significance (sig) of research with a significant level of 0.05 then 0.002 <0.05 so that it can be said that there is a significant effect between incentives on the performance of employees of Mexsicana Hotel Jambi City. For the management of the City of Mexsicana Hotel Jambi, it is hoped that incentives can be noticed and increased in terms of employee performance. So that incentives for employee performance can be better in the future. Next researchers are expected to be able to conduct research using different variables from the variables studied.

Wood preservation is one way to enhance the durability of wood, especially for low grade natural durable woods. The aim of this research was to evaluate the efficacy of tuba (Derris elliptica)leaves extract against the subterranean termite, Coptotermes sp. The leaves was milled and extracted with ethanol solvent to give it’s extracts. There were two kinds of antitermite test which were conducted in this study, namely direct test (stomach toxic test) and indirect test (respiratory toxic test). The mortality of termites and the weight loss of the paper discs were used to determine antitermite activity of the extract. The result showed that the higher concentration of the extract, the higher mortality of termites for both of the test. The concentration of the extract were 2, 4, and 6% with the mortality 40.0, 69.1 and 93.3%, respectively for direct test and 71.5, 75.8 and 89.7%, respectively for indirect test. Moreover, the weight losses of paper discs of direct test were 5.29, 3.07 and 1.94%, respectively.Keywords: Derris elliptica, natural antitermite, preservative, tuba leaves ekstract

Background:The traditional learning method applies at Physiology Laboratory of Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is considered ineffective for the lecturers in managing the students. Moreover, the students perceive that their needs are not adequately accommodated by the lecturers. This downside can be resolved by an alternative learning method which provides conducive, active, creative, effective and enjoyable learning environment called peer assisted learning method. This study is aimed at discovering the students’ perceptions on peer assisted learning method and acquiring the students’ feedback and expectations on the effectiveness of peer-teaching method implementation.Method:The study used cross-sectional design of descriptive research.Results:From the questionnaire analysis with 150 respondents, 90 students of regular program and 60 students of international program, the result according to the frequencies of student perception were: 1) factor 1 were 45.8 % for very high category, 29.8 % for high category, 23.7 % for medium category, 0,8 % for very low category and 0 % for low category; 2) factor 2 were 45 % for high category,41.2 % for medium category,11.5 % for very high category,1.5 % for low category and 0.8 % for very low category; 3) factor 3 were 51.9 % for very high category, 31.3 % for high category,16.0 % for medium category,0.8% for very low category and 0% for low category; 4) factor 4 were 47.3 %for high category, 31.3 % for very high category,19.1 % for medium category,1.5 % for low category and 0.8% for very low category. There was no difference in perception between the students of regular and international program. Responses to open questions and FGD show a variety of students’ feedback and expectation on the peer assisted learning method.Conclusion:The students have shown positive perception on peer assisted learning as a learning method. The peer instructors required in Implementing this model are those students with good communication skill, confirmed academic qualification and capability in managing their fellow students’ learning.

Background: The tutorial plays a central role in problem-based learning (PBL). The effectiveness of small group tutorials is one of the key aspects to the students’ success in exam. This study aimed to identify factors perceived as the predictors for effectiveness of PBL tutorial group.Method: The subjects of the study were all of the students (year of 2008) of the Medical College of Sultan Agung Islamic University who were taking tropical disease module. The adapted version of the scales adopted in this study included the scale developed by Van den Bossche et al. for assessing team effectiveness, beliefs about the interpersonal context and group’s learning behavior dimension, scale developed by Dolmans & Ginns for assessing tutor’s performance, scale developed by Munshi et al. for assessing quality of case problem, scale developed by Lepper et al. for assessing learning motivation. Quantitative approach with correlation and double regression analysis was applied.Results: The 223 subject included in the study consisting of 84 (37.3%) male and 139 (62.3%) female students. There was a significant correlation between effectiveness of tutorial group and a tutor’s performance (r = 0.456, p < 0.01), quality of case problem (r = 0.366, p < 0.01), beliefs about the interpersonal context dimension (r = 0.631, p < 0.01), group’s learning behavior (r = 0.559, p<0.01) and motivation (r = 0.137, p<0.05). There was a correlation between the variables of tutor’s performance, beliefs about the interpersonal context dimension, and learning behavior and group effectiveness indicated by the regression coefficient of 0.739 (p < 0.05). These three variables contributed to the group effectiveness as much as 54% with F value 87.857. The quality of case problem and motivations were not the predictive factors for group effectiveness.Conclusion: Improving tutorial group effectiveness requires improving factors beliefs about the interpersonal context dimension, group’s learning behaviors dimension and tutor’s performance. A favorable learning atmosphere is needed to improved motivation and better quality of case problem.

Background: OSCE is known as a skills examination method with high level of objectivity and reliability. Many efforts explore to increase OSCE achievement. Increasing the underlying knowledge of medical skills prior to a skills training proven to improve the skills achievement. A lecture delivered using concept maps, are considered better than the conventional lecture. The objective of this study is to find out that a lecture using concept maps before splinting skills training will increase the OSCE scores.Method: A quasi-experimental post test only study was conducted among 151 students of the Faculty of Medicine, General Achmad Yani University studying trauma at the fourth semester. The 74 students of the experiment group got a trauma lecture using concept maps, the 77 students of the control group got a trauma lecture without concept maps. The result of the splinting OSCE scores of the two groups were compared and statistically analyzed.Results: The average value of the OSCE score of the experiment group was significantly higher (89.10) than the control group (84.93). There were no differences in OSCE score among different gender, grade point average value, and the expertise of the instructors.Conclusion: Lecture in trauma before splinting skills training using the concept map that explains on the conceptualization (i.e. indication, contraindication, and how to prevent, identify and treat the splinting complications), will increase the score of OSCE. Demonstration of cases according to the theme of the subject involving a group of students, will enhance student understanding of the lecture topics.

Background: Education providers in many ways short of expectations. Education strategy is essential in teaching and learning activities. Student who has motivation and learning strategies tends to devote all their ability to get the optimal learning results according to the expected goals. Understanding student motivation and learning strategies will help institution to facilitate students for their study success. This study aimed of determine differences in student motivation and learning strategies at Faculty of Dentistry, University of Hasanuddin among students with collaborative learning and problem-based learning educational strategies.Method: This was quantitative research with observational analytic cross-sectional study design. The subjects were all students of class 2007 and 2008 data were collected using Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Descriptive analysis and Mann-Whitney test were used to analysis the data.Results: The subjects consisted of 84 students of class 2007 and 79 students of class 2008. The mean score of learning motivation and learning strategy were higher among students with PBL than students with collaborative learning. There we are significant differences in learning strategies with different education strategies except in organization (p=0,369) and anxiety (p=0.058).Conclusion: There are differences in the learning motivation and learning strategies in students with collaborative learning and problem based learning education strategies, except in organization and anxiety component. Learning motivation and learning strategies in problem based learning students are higher than collaborative learning students.
