Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of bilingual learning at the elementary school level in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature study method. Data were collected from various relevant sources, such as scientific journals, articles, and books, then analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that bilingual learning is implemented through the main stages, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. Case studies from various elementary schools show that the implementation of bilingual programs varies, depending on the conditions and characteristics of the institution and students. This program has been proven to be able to improve students' foreign language skills, such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, while supporting the achievement of educational goals in the era of globalization. However, its implementation is not free from obstacles, such as limited facilities, differences in language abilities between students, and lack of teacher training. Therefore, a deep understanding of implementation strategies and practices is essential so that bilingual learning can be implemented effectively and sustainably in the context of elementary education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper discusses the analysis of appropriate bilingual learning models applied to elementary school students. With the increasing need for English proficiency as a global communication tool, it is essential to implement effective teaching methods at the primary level. This study identifies several learning models, including Teams Games Tournament (TGT), Make A Match, ICCARE based on media, Inside Outside Circle, and Edu Fun, which can enhance students’ language and academic skills. Each model has its own advantages and challenges; however, overall, the application of these models is expected to improve students’ motivation and abilities in English. Through interactive and enjoyable approaches, students are anticipated to be more actively engaged in the learning process, thereby optimizing their vocabulary acquisition and communication skills. This research aims to provide insights for educators in designing more effective and engaging teaching strategies in the elementary school environment.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of bilingual learning (Indonesian-English) using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the ABCya digital platform in teaching 3D geometry to elementary students. Through qualitative library research, five key studies (2020-2024) were analyzed, focusing on how this integrated approach affects conceptual understanding, language acquisition, and learning motivation. Findings reveal that: (1) PBL’s problem-solving framework enhances spatial reasoning while naturally embedding bilingual terminology; (2) ABCya’s gamified interface significantly increases engagement through interactive 3D shape visualization; and (3) the bilingual approach strengthens both mathematical and linguistic competencies when balanced appropriately. The study highlights the importance of teacher competency in bilingual pedagogy and the need for supportive learning environments. These results align with constructivist principles and multimedia learning theory, demonstrating how technology-enhanced PBL can transform abstract geometric concepts into tangible bilingual learning experiences.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the definition of instructional phrases, the importance of using instructional phrases, and examples of instructional phrases in bilingual learning. This study employs a literature review method, relying on secondary data obtained from scholarly journals, articles, and textbooks relevant to instructional phrases in bilingual education. The findings indicate that instructional phrases are expressions used by teachers to give directions, commands, or guidance to students during the teaching and learning process. The use of instructional phrases in bilingual education is crucial for developing students’ communication skills, literacy, and comprehension in both languages, namely English and Indonesian. Examples of instructional phrases in bilingual learning include phrases used for giving orders, making requests, offering advice, providing instructions, issuing warnings, and functioning as speech acts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine teachers’ ability to design bilingual teaching modules within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum at the elementary school level. The research employs a literature review method with a qualitative approach, in which data were obtained through an analysis of relevant national and international journals. The findings indicate that the success of designing bilingual teaching modules depends on teachers’ understanding of five key aspects: analysis of student, teacher, and school conditions; identification of the Pancasila Student Profile; formulation of Learning Objective Pathways (ATP); development of module components; and evaluation and follow-up. Challenges faced by teachers include limited foreign language proficiency, lack of training, and the absence of adequate technical guidelines. Therefore, continuous training and mentoring are essential to enable teachers to create effective, contextual bilingual teaching modules that support the achievement of the Merdeka Curriculum goals and the Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the theory, methods, techniques, strategies, and evaluation in the implementation of bilingual learning at the elementary school level. The study was conducted through a literature study approach, where data was obtained from various sources of scientific literature and analyzed descriptively. The findings show that bilingual learning contributes significantly to improving language competence, developing cognitive abilities, and improving students’ academic achievement. Learning models that have proven effective include an integrated thematic approach, implementing structured language rotation, utilizing interactive digital media, and integrating cultural values from both languages used. The evaluation process is carried out through formative and summative assessments, including portfolios, classroom observations, and competency-based tests. However, the implementation of bilingual learning still faces several obstacles such as limited educators who are fluent in two languages, minimal availability of appropriate teaching materials, and variations in language abilities between students. Therefore, an integrated strategy is needed, including ongoing teacher training, developing an adaptive bilingual curriculum, and collaboration from various parties to ensure the success of the implementation of bilingual learning optimally and sustainably.

Abstract

Bilingual learning is an educational approach that integrates two languages in the learning process to improve students’ language skills as well as understanding of academic materials. This study discusses the stages of implementing bilingual learning, its suitability to the Independent Curriculum, and literature studies that support its effectiveness. The learning stages start from introducing vocabulary contextually to developing conversation skills through interactive activities. The Independent Curriculum, which emphasizes differentiated and student-centered learning, provides a strong foundation for the implementation of bilingual learning. The results of the literature study show that the success of bilingual learning is influenced by teacher readiness, support for facilities and infrastructure, and parental involvement. Despite a number of challenges, bilingual learning has great potential in equipping students with the language competencies needed in the era of globalization. Therefore, ongoing support from all parties is needed to optimize its implementation in elementary schools.

Abstract

Bilingual teaching in elementary schools in Indonesia is increasingly important in the era of globalization, where mastery of more than one language is a much-needed skill. The stages of bilingual teaching consist of four stages: introduction, reinforcement, implementation, and consolidation. Each stage is designed to build students’ language skills gradually and systematically. Although bilingual teaching offers significant benefits, such as increased cognitive and academic achievement, its implementation still faces various challenges, including limited resources and teacher competence. This study uses a literature review method to evaluate the success of the bilingual program and find solutions to existing problems. It was found that student motivation, institutional support, and parental involvement are key factors in the success of bilingual teaching. This study also recommends strategies such as ongoing teacher training and the use of technology to improve the effectiveness of bilingual teaching in elementary schools.
