Abstract

This study examines the role of local government financial performance in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, with a particular focus on Target 11.1 concerning access to adequate and affordable housing. The study is motivated by Indonesia’s persistent housing backlog and the extensive presence of slum settlements, alongside uneven fiscal capacity and suboptimal allocation of local budgets for the housing sector. The analysis employs panel data covering 542 local governments in Indonesia from 2019 to 2022, resulting in 2,144 observations, and applies a random effects panel regression model. The findings indicate that total solvency has a positive and significant effect on SDG 11 achievement, suggesting that stronger long-term fiscal capacity enhances sustainable urban development outcomes. In contrast, financial flexibility shows a significant negative effect, implying that excessive flexibility without clear development priorities may hinder SDG performance. Institutional age, population size, and archipelagic status as control variables also exhibit positive effects. Overall, the study underscores the importance of strengthening local fiscal governance to support sustainable housing development.

Abstract

This study aims to find evidence whether Macroeconomic Conditions can affect the Performanceof Protected Mutual Funds in Indonesia which is Moderated Age and Size of Mutual Funds forthe period January 2018 – August 2023. The motivation for this study comes from identifying therelationship between macroeconomic conditions and mutual fund performance simultaneously isvery important because it has significant implications in efforts to improve mutual fundperformance against macroeconomic conditions. However, there are limitations to empiricalstudies on the impact of these mutual funds because the data year series is limited to only a fewyears. Using the Random Effect Model (REM) panel regression method approach, the analysisperiod from January 2018 to August 2023 panel data on macroeconomics and mutual funds, itwas found that macroeconomic variables of the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar (NT)had a significant influence on the performance of the highest mutual funds measured by the sharperatio. Meanwhile, macroeconomic variables that do not have a significant influence on theperformance of protected mutual funds are interest rate (SBI) and inflation (INF) variables. Thevariable age and size of mutual funds have a significant influence on the performance of protectedmutual funds. In addition to these independent variables, this study also used moderator /moderating variables. Moderator variables to see the interaction relationship between moderatorvariables and predictor variables (independent). Moderator variables are variables that canstrengthen or weaken the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Themoderator variables of this study are age and size of mutual funds

Abstract

This study examines whether significant differences in fintech literacy exist between Generation Y and Generation Z in the context of increasing digital financial transformation. The use of technology in the financial sector is known as financial technology (fintech). The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are differences in Fintech Literacy between generation Y and generation Z, given that these two generations absorbed internet technology in their youth to adulthood, in the mid-1990s to 2000s. In this study, Fintech Literacy refers to the Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) conceptual model. In order to answer the research questions, questionnaires were distributed to 100 generation Y respondents and 183 generation Z respondents. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the Mann-Whitney Test, adjusted for the ordinal scale data form. The results of the hypothesis test show that there is no significant difference in Fintech Literacy between generation Y and generation Z. Beyond its empirical contribution, this study enriches the fintech literacy literature by demonstrating that generational differences may be less pronounced than commonly assumed, particularly when both cohorts are exposed to similar technological environments

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the relationship between asset diversification and Islamic bank stability by incorporating profitability as a mediating variable and managerial ownership as a moderating variable. The study aims to determine whether diversification contributes to financial resilience and whether internal governance mechanisms reinforce this effect. Methodology/approach: Using panel data from Islamic banks in OIC Asian countries during 2020–2024, the analysis applies Hayes’ PROCESS Model 15, allowing the simultaneous examination of mediation and moderation effects within a single analytical framework. Findings: The results show that managerial ownership plays a decisive role in influencing Islamic bank stability, with evidence pointing to a destabilizing governance effect. Conversely, asset diversification and profitability do not demonstrate a meaningful relationship with stability. Additional analysis indicates that profitability does not mediate the diversification stability nexus, and managerial ownership does not condition these relationships. These findings highlight the dominant role of governance incentives over diversification strategies in explaining stability outcomes among Islamic banks. Practical implications: The study enriches the agency–governance discourse in Islamic finance and offers policy insights for strengthening the long-term resilience of Islamic banks. Originality/value: The research introduces a moderated mediation framework integrating diversification, profitability, and managerial ownership using Hayes’ PROCESS Model 15 in the context of OIC Asian Islamic banks.

Abstract

Many analyzes of rice farming production with irrigation systems have been carried out, but research related to traditional irrigation management is still very rare. This study aims to look at the implementation of traditional irrigation management, analyze the factors of traditional irrigation management and their influence on the income of rice farmers in South Sumatra. The method in this research used a survey. This research used descriptive quantitative analysis and purposive sampling. This research used multistage sampling method or gradual sampling. The first step was determine the irrigation management condition layer (disproportionate stratified random sampling). The second stage of sampling used quota sampling method (non-probability sampling). The total sample farmer respondents in this study amounted to 120 people from four villages who run their farms using traditional irrigation located in Lahat district and Pagaralam city. The villages are Pagaruyung village, Jentian village, Lubuk Buntak village and Pelangkenidai village. Data were analyzed used binary logit model, wald test, and t test. The results showed that the factors that influence the management of traditional irrigation are water distribution, water distribution, irrigation pollution and the role of irrigation institutions, with the coefficient of determination obtained is 0,699 or 69,9 percent. There is a statistically significant difference between the income of sample farmers with good irrigation management conditions and sample farmers with poor irrigation management conditions. The income obtained by farmers in good irrigation management conditions is Rp12.379.972 and Rp10.009.264 for the income of rice farmers with poor irrigation management conditions.

Abstract

Long-term exposure to ambient fine particulate pollution (PM2.5) has been associated with cardiovascular diseases. Hypertension, a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, has also been hypothesized to be linked to PM2.5. Annual average PM2.5 concentrations were estimated for each community using satellite data. We applied two-level logistic regression models to examine the associations, and estimated hypertension burden attributable to ambient PM2.5.

Abstract

The tight competition in the business world in the automotive industry that occurs in the current era of technology and development means that companies must have broad and clever thinking to keep the company from the brink of failure. During this research period there was a decline in automotive sales and company profits in the automotive and component sub-sectors listed on the IDX for the 2016-2020 period. This research aims to find out which prediction model is the most accurate and precise in predicting financial difficulties using model accuracy tests. The population in this study was 13 companies, then a purposive sampling technique was used to obtain 10 companies that were included in the research criteria. The results of this research show that the Altman Z-Score, Springate, Zmijewski and Grover models have different results, the Altman model predicts that there are 5 companies that are indicated to be healthy, 3 companies are in the Gray area, and 2 companies are indicated to have the potential to go bankrupt, the Springate model predicts that there are 5 companies healthy and 5 unhealthy companies, the Zmijewski model predicts that there are 9 healthy companies and 1 company that is indicated to have the potential to go bankrupt, the Grover model predicts that there are 7 healthy companies and 3 companies that are indicated to be unhealthy. With these results, the financial distress model with the highest accuracy is the Zmijewski model with an accuracy level of 92%, while the accuracy levels of the Altman Z-Score, Springate, and Grover models are 76%, 44%, and 76% respectively. With these results, the Zmijewski model is the most suitable model for use in automotive and component sub-sector companies in 2016-2020.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the effect of behavioral bias on mutual fund investment decisions in Indonesia by positioning attitude toward risk as a mediating variable and cultural orientation as a moderating variable, with implications for culturally sensitive investor education. Methods: A quantitative causal–explanatory design was employed using primary data from a survey of 300 individual mutual fund investors selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Hayes PROCESS macro Model 15 in SPSS to test direct, indirect, and moderated relationships among behavioral bias, attitude toward risk, cultural orientation, and investment decisions. Results: Behavioral bias significantly influences investment decisions both directly and indirectly through attitude toward risk. Cultural orientation moderates these relationships by weakening bias-driven effects under stronger cultural orientations, confirming a moderated–mediated model integrating psychological and sociocultural determinants of investment behavior. Novelty: This study offers a novel integrative framework combining behavioral finance and cultural finance perspectives while explicitly linking them to investor education. It highlights how behavioral bias, risk attitude, and cultural orientation should inform the design of culturally sensitive financial literacy and advisory strategies, providing an evidence-based foundation for developing investor education programs that address behavioral and cultural factors in mutual fund decision-making.
