Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between BMI, physical activity, and sleep quality with physical fitness and the correlation between these factors. The research method used is correlational research. The subjects of this study were adolescent students aged 16-19 years. It selected subjects using purposive sampling techniques with criteria of adolescents aged 16-19, healthy conditions, and willingness to participate in research activities. The total subjects involved were 251 teenagers. The research instruments used were BMI measurement, physical activity using the PAQ-A questionnaire, sleep quality measured using PSQI, and physical fitness measured using the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test for the age range of 16-19 years. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive analysis and multiple regression tests. The results showed that BMI and physical fitness were significantly associated with an effective contribution of 4.29%, physical activity, and physical fitness had a significant relationship with an effective contribution of 46.34%, and sleep quality and physical fitness were significantly associated with an effective contribution of 2.27%. The BMI, physical activity, and sleep quality all had a significant relationship with physical fitness in adolescent students, with an effective contribution of 53.40%, meaning that it was concluded that there was a relationship between BMI, physical activity, sleep quality, and physical fitness. The results of this study answered that BMI, physical activity, and sleep quality contribute to the fitness of adolescent students.

Abstract

Many students find that swimming is a necessary skill, yet many struggle to learn the appropriate form due to inadequate teaching. Learning can happen faster with the right training media, and knowledge of swimming techniques can be improved. Innovative teaching methods and training media are needed to optimise students' mastery of swimming skills. This study is to assess how well proper workout regimens and media can enhance fundamental swimming skills. This study uses an action research design, where three action research cycles are (1) preparation, (2) action, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. If at least 75% of children can perform basic swim movements in a crawling style successfully, then this learning has been successful. This study used a percentage analysis methodology as its analytical method. While at least 75% of students who received a completeness score in swimming during the first cycle showed success in basic crawl style movements, the learning results of students' movements were not in accordance with the success indicators; only 55.55% of students achieved the overall target. The number of students who achieved the goal in the second cycle increased to 32 or 71.11%. At the end of the cycle, 40 students, or 88.89% of students, achieved the overall target. According to the study's findings, the basic swimming ability of adolescent students can be improved by using land exercises and training tools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of implementing a deep learning approach within the Merdeka Curriculum framework on the character development of students at Amanah Nusantara High School. The urgency of this research arises from the growing national demand for educational practices that not only strengthen students’ cognitive mastery but also cultivate character values aligned with the Profile of Pancasila Students an area where empirical evidence remains limited, particularly in digital era learning contexts. This study employs a mixed-methods design using a one-group pretest–posttest model. The research participants consist of 29 eleventh-grade students and two Sociology teachers. Quantitative data were collected through a character education questionnaire encompassing responsibility, honesty, care, social awareness, and work ethic, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews and observations of classroom activities. Descriptive analysis indicates an improvement in the mean character education score from 72.3 (SD = 8.9) in the pretest to 78.9 (SD = 7.4) in the posttest. The Shapiro–Wilk test confirmed normal data distribution (p > 0.05), and a paired-samples t-test showed a significant increase, t(28) = 4.12, p = 0.0003, with a medium-to-large effect size (Cohen’s d = 0.76). Qualitative findings further reveal that the deep learning approach enhances student participation, moral value reflection, and collaborative work, especially during activity-based learning. However, several challenges emerged, including time limitations and the absence of comprehensive character assessment instruments. Overall, the findings confirm that the deep learning approach is effective in cultivating students’ character through reflective, collaborative, and project-based activities aligned with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum and the Pancasila Student Profile. The study highlights an urgent need for systematic teacher training and the development of character assessment frameworks to support sustainable deep learning practices in Indonesian schools.

Abstract

In an era of globalization, the erosion of local cultural identity among young learners presents a critical challenge for educational systems. This study addresses this gap by designing a comprehensive culture-based learning model aimed at strengthening the local identity of primary school students. Employing a qualitative exploratory case study design, data were collected from five elementary schools in Sleman, Yogyakarta, through in-depth interviews with principals, teachers, students, and community stakeholders, complemented by classroom observations and document analysis. The findings culminate in a three-pillar Culture-Based Learning Model: (1) Curricular Integration, embedding local wisdom (e.g., Javanese folklore, language) and experiential arts (e.g., batik, gamelan) into core subjects; (2) Structured Extracurricular Programs for deeper cultural immersion; and (3) the creation of a Culturally Responsive School Environment. The model is operationalized through implementation strategies emphasizing community collaboration and digital technology, alongside a robust tripartite evaluation mechanism assessing cognitive understanding, attitudinal pride, and practical skills. The study demonstrates that systematic cultural integration fosters early internalization of local values, builds resilience against global homogenization, and strengthens community-school ties. This research provides educators and policymakers with a theoretically grounded and actionable framework for designing learning ecosystems that effectively preserve cultural heritage while nurturing culturally confident students.

Abstract

Abstract

The industrial revolution 4.0 that occurred in the 21st century has brought about the needs and challenges of life that are different from the previous century. Changes that occur so quickly and are full of disruption due to the development of information technology require mastery of skills relevant to the needs of the 21st century. One of the skills needed is critical thinking skills. An alternative that can be used in developing critical thinking skills is through case-based blended learning. Through case-based blended learning in social science learning, students can improve their critical thinking skills by seeking and finding knowledge through reality and dynamics in real life, social interaction and collaboration.
