Abstract

Kelapa sawit ialah salah satu tanaman yang berkontribusi dalam perekonomian negara Indonesia. Pengaruh kelapa sawit dalam membantu nilai ekspor tidak lepas dari produksi yang dihasilkan. Menurut Ditjenbun (2019), luas areal perkebunan kelapa sawit Indonesia pada tahun 2019 mencapai 14.677.560 ha dengan produksi sebesar 42.869.429 ton. Hasil produksi yang tinggi menjadi tujuan bagi perusahaan supaya dapat mencapai keuntungan yang optimal. Fase pertumbuhan tanaman kelapa sawit terbagi menjadi dua fase yaitu fase tanaman belum menghasilkan (TBM) dan fase tanaman menghasilkan (TM). Pengendalian gulma kelapa sawit dilakukan pada piringan pohon dan gawangan. Gulma yang berada pada piringan pohon kelapa sawit menghaslikan (TM) perlu dilakukan pengendalian dengan tujuan untuk mengurangi kompetisi unsur hara serta memudahkan pemupukan dan pengambilan brondolan buah kelapa sawit (Pahan, 2013). Pengendalian gulma ialah suatu usaha pemeliharaan tanaman budidaya dengan menghentikan persaingan antara tanaman budidaya dan gulma dalam mendapatkan unsur hara, air, dan cahaya matahari supaya tidak mengganggu pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman budidaya. Dosis herbisida ialah faktor yang menentukan efektivitas penggunaan herbisida. Pemberian dosis yang tepat dapat menekan laju pertumbuhan dan perkembangan gulma, tetapi jika dosis herbisida terlalu tinggi akan mengurangi efektivitas dan dapat meracuni tanaman budidaya.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai Juli 2019 di PT. Perkebunan Nusantara II (Persero) Kebun Tanjung Garbus, Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara.Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok(RAK) dengan enam perlakuan dan empat kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan perlakuan herbisida campuran glifosat dan metil metsulfuron dengan berbagai dosis dapat mengendalikan Davallia trichomanoides, Ottochloa nodosa, dan Asystasia intrusa.

Abstract

Stroberi (Fragaria sp.) merupakan salah satu komoditas hortikultura yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi dan banyak digemari oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Khasiat yang diberikan buah stroberi membuat permintaan buah stroberi meningkat, sehingga bertambahnya kesadaran masyarakat untuk mengkonsumsi makanan sehat. Tanaman stroberi membutuhkan unsur hara makro yang penting dibutuhkan oleh tanaman seperti nitrogen (N), fosfor (P) dan kalium (K). Dalam pertumbuhan tanaman tidak terlepas dari pemberian nutrisi tanaman, salah satunya dengan pemupukan. Pemupukan yang tepat tidak hanya mempertimbangkan dosis, tetapi juga frekuensi pemberian pupuk. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan mempelajari frekuensi pemberian pupuk NPK yang terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil stroberi varietas hibrida. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Balai Penelitian Tanaman Jeruk dan Buah Subtropika yang terletak di Desa Tlekung, Kecamatan Junrejo, Kota Batu pada Desember 2019 – Juni 2020 menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan faktor frekuensi pemberian pupuk NPK yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan yaitu P0: Kontrol, P1: frekuensi 1 minggu sekali, P2: frekuensi 2 minggu sekali, P3: frekuensi 3 minggu sekali. Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 6 kali sehingga terdapat 24 petak percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berbagai frekuensi pemupukan NPK memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap panjang tanaman serta jumlah daun pada umur pengamatan 6, 8, 10 MST, luas daun, indeks klorofil, laju pertumbuhan relatif, jumlah buah per tanaman dan bobot buah per tanaman. Kemudian didapatkan hasil bahwa pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman yang paling baik bagi tanaman stroberi terdapat pada perlakuan frekuensi 1 minggu sekali.

Abstract

Routine assistance to several Islamic boarding schools, including the Nurul Muhibbin Halong Islamic Boarding School, is the Adaro Santri Sejahtera (PASS) Program. This program focuses on skill development so that besides having religious knowledge, students are also expected to know about entrepreneurship. This mentoring activity is a form of Community Service (PkM) for Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) as a driving effort to develop a business unit for cultivating and marketing community agricultural products, such as feed corn and organic edamame. This activity is also aimed at making Islamic boarding schools more prosperous, independent, and advanced in learning religious knowledge and providing students with knowledge and skills in agribusiness to become independent people. This activity was carried out for four months (August‒December 2021) at the Nurul Muhibbin Islamic Boarding School, Halong District, Balangan Regency, South Kalimantan, with a target number of participants of 20 people. The method used in this activity is a classical and individual approach. The classical approach was taken when providing theory regarding the introduction of feed corn cultivation and organic edamame, while the individual approach was taken when filling out the questionnaire. This service activity produces elements of Islamic boarding school students, caregivers, and congregation farmers who have knowledge, understanding, and skills in intensive feed corn and organic edamame cultivation. This is essential capital for the Islamic boarding school to continue and develop farming to create an independent Islamic boarding school.

Abstract

Fuel alternative diesel was developed aiming to develop environmentally friendly alternative fuels in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical properties and quality of diesel produced from coconut shell liquid smoke, B20, and B40. The quality and physical properties of diesel in question were tested in terms of its Calorific Value, Viscosity, Density, and Cetane Number test. Based on the engine performance testing, the parameters sought were torque, power, and specific fuel consumption. In this case, the testing of the physical properties of diesel was conducted through the comparison of the fuel used, among others, the highest torque value was obtained at 32.415 Nm on diesel fuel for the engine shaft rotation of 1980 rpm with the mass load of 9.6 kg. Furthermore, fuel consumption specific was obtained from diesel fuel with the largest rotation of 3548 rpm using 337.4 g/kWh, while the lowest value was obtained from diesel B40 with a torque value of 24.702 Nm. In this case, the lowest mass fuel consumption specific (SFC)) was found in coconut shell oil mixture with the largest rotation of 1520 rpm using 40.9 g/kWh. The conclusion made was that the addition of coconut shell oil in diesel can reduce energy because the calorific value decreased, as evidenced by the addition of coconut shell oil causing the engine performance to decrease.

Abstract

Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger (STHX) is very important for its use in the industrial world which can support the continuity and success of the entire network process. Various kinds of research have been carried out to increase the heat transfer coefficient and effectiveness of Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers (STHX) both experimentally and by simulation. This research examines the increase in heat change coefficient and effectiveness of STHX with variations in baffle angles of 0°, 10°, and 20° with fluid mass flow rates of 2, 4, and 6 kg/s. As a result, STHX with a baffle angle of 0° has the largest heat change coefficient value than STHX with a baffle angle of 10° and 20° both during experiment and simulation, values ​​ranging from 4218 W/m²C and 4226 W/m²C at a baffle angle of 0° when the fluid flow rate is increased to 6 kg/s. Abstract

Biofoam, as an alternative packaging material based on tapioca starch, has become a choice for environmentally friendly packaging. However, biofoam has a drawback in terms of weak mechanical properties. The use of oil palm fiber, a by-product of CPO production, has gained interest as a material that can improve the mechanical properties of biofoam. This study aims to produce biofoam with the best mechanical characteristics as packaging material through variations in temperature and processing time. The production of biofoam was carried out using the thermopressing method on tray-shaped molds with variations in molding temperature of 180°C, 190°C, and 200°C for 180 seconds and 210 seconds. The dough formulation consisted of 80% starch, 20% fiber, with the addition of 25 grams of water. Mechanical property testing was conducted through tests for moisture content, water adsorption, biodegradability, compressive strength, and tensile strength. The variation of 190°C temperature and 210 seconds baking time resulted in biofoam with the best mechanical properties. This biofoam showed the highest compressive strength value of 26.94 kPa, tensile strength test of 83.11 kPa, the second-highest biodegradability with a percentage of 78.93%, and the second-lowest moisture content with a value of 7.56%. These results indicate that biofoam at a molding temperature of 190°C and a baking time of 210 seconds has the best mechanical properties, making it superior as an environmentally friendly alternative packaging material compared to other formulations. Keywords: Biofoam, Oil palm fiber, Temperature, Thermopressing.

Abstract

The increasing need of industrial pure hydrogen is growing. One of its roles is petroleum industry purification. High purity hydrogen (99.99%) was obtained from methane using Steam Methane Reforming Method in hydrogen plant unit. Hydrogen is a very dangerous chemical element with its flammable characteristic. This research was conducted especially on purification system. Quantitative analysis was used to determine hydrogen leakage frequency, consequence modeling, and risk estimation that would be risen. The analysis results showed that the highest frequency occured in unignited release events. Jet fire scenario produced the longest fire length in HPU for about 27 meters. Jet fire scenario impact produced the farthest secure distance in case of a leakage in HPU section of 60 meters. Flash fire produced the farthest distance loss in a leakage case in HPU of 80 meters, and explosion at 200 meters radius would will have a blast overpressure 7.62 psig with 22% fatality estimation of the population. Abstract

The heroism of Lembak ethnic folklore characters is a means of delivering effective character education because the values contained in folklore are very closely aligned with the norms that exist in society. This research aims to describe the perception of character education through the heroism of Lembak ethnic folklore characters in the form of the values of willingness to sacrifice (RB), never give up (PM), love of the homeland (CTA), and solidarity (KK). This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique was carried out by carefully reading the entire Lembak ethnic folklore, understanding the sample on the research object, coding the data, compiling the results of the analysis, and making conclusions. Based on the results of the analysis, researchers found that the value of heroism, being willing to sacrifice, the value of never giving up, the value of love for one's country, and value of solidarity arises because of the feeling of affection towards someone by protecting, loyalty, working together and caring for friends, family, lovers, and other people to make it happen. strong solidarity. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the heroism of the characters in Lembak ethnic folklore, it will provide an overview of character education which can be used as a means of education in society.

Abstract

The stir casting method is a widely used technique for producing metal matrix composites by incorporating reinforcement particles into molten metal. This study investigates the effect of copper (Cu) powder reinforcement on the microstructure and mechanical properties of aluminum matrix composites fabricated using the stir casting method. The base material consists of recycled aluminum from vehicle wheels, with copper added as a reinforcement to enhance the mechanical characteristics of the cast material. The casting process involved melting aluminum waste at 650°C, followed by the gradual addition of Cu powder in varying volume fractions (2.5%, 5%, and 7.5%) while stirring at a constant speed of 500 rpm for 5 minutes to ensure uniform distribution. The microstructural analysis was conducted using optical metallography, while tensile and hardness properties were evaluated using a Universal Testing Machine. The results indicate that the most uniform powder distribution was achieved at 5% Cu reinforcement, whereas the highest porosity was observed at 7.5% due to particle agglomeration. The highest hardness value (42.52 BHN) was observed at 2.5% Cu reinforcement, while the maximum tensile strength (111.7 MPa) was obtained at 5% Cu. However, an increase in Cu content beyond 5% led to a decline in mechanical properties due to increased porosity and reduced bonding efficiency. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing Cu content in aluminum matrix composites to balance mechanical strength and structural integrity.

Abstract

Currently, fin and tube heat exchangers are widely used in various engineering applications, including modern heat exchangers, automotive radiators, and Air Conditioning (AC) systems such as evaporators, and condensers. Enhancing their performance necessitates innovative designs, advanced application, and optimizes geometries to improve heat transfer efficiency. This study investigates the effect of box and polygon geometries on fluid flow and heat transfer in a split Air Conditioner (AC) fin and tube heat exchanger using simulation software. The research examines two tube arrangement-inline and staggered-across different fluid velocities (0.5 m/s, 1 m/s, 1.5 m/s, and 2.5 m/s) and heat flux values (100 W/m2 , 125 W/m2, 125 W/m2, and 150 W/m2 ). The numerical study revealed that the best thermal and hydraulic performance of the fin and tube heat exchanger, based on geometry variations between box and polygon tubes, was achieved with the polygon tube geometry, which resulted in a lower temperature around 23.41°C. This temperature confirmed an increase in heat transfer coefficient by approximately 5% and Nusselt number by about 3%. The best performance overall, considering both thermal and hydraulic aspects, was observed in the inline arrangement, especially for the polygon tube, which resulted in a lower temperature of around 26.38°C. This confirmed an improvement in the heat transfer coefficient by about 4% and the Nusselt number by 2.5%.
