Abstract

An agricultural business is a business that is always characterized by yield variability or high risk. The implementation of lowland rice farming contains many risks which result in a decrease in production, some of which cannot be controlled. Increasing the production of farmers and farm managers must understand and be able to apply the factors of production properly, otherwise, the increase in production will not be achieved. The purpose of this study was to analyze the production risk of rainfed lowland rice farming and analyze the production factors of rainfed lowland rice farming. This research was conducted in Pacikong Baja Village, Labakkang District, Bonto Kio Village, Minasatene District, and Pangkajene Islands Regency. The research was carried out from October - November 2023. The total research population was 238 people and 25% of the total population was taken as research samples, namely 60 farmers. The sample of farmers was taken using a simple random sampling method. Data collection techniques used are observation/observation, and interviews. The types of data are qualitative and quantitative data. There are two sources of data, namely primary and secondary data. Data analysis used is risk analysis and multiple regression. The results showed that based on the large value of the coefficient of variation, it could be seen that farmers in Pacikong Baja Village and Bonto Kio Village were at risk (CV > 0.50) in carrying out rice farming in rainfed rice fields. The results of production risk in Bonto Kio Village are greater than in Pacikong Baja Village. It can be concluded that rainfed lowland rice farming is categorized as risky in production. Factors that have a real and positive influence on the production of rainfed lowland rice farming are land area, amount of urea fertilizer, amount of pesticides, and farming experience. While the real and negative effect is the number of seeds.

Abstract

Farmers' income levels are generally influenced by components, namely: the amount of production, selling prices, and costs incurred by farmers in their agriculture. Generally, the characteristics of farming in Indonesia are narrow land, relatively small capital, limited knowledge of farmers, and less dynamic which results in low farm income. Feasibility studies need to be carried out to avoid capital that is too large for an activity that turns out to be unprofitable. The purpose of this study was to analyze the income and feasibility of rainfed rice farming in Talabagi Village, Patimpeng District, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. The study was carried out in January - March 2023. The population of this study was rainfed rice farmers, totaling 300 families. The number of samples is 10% of the total population of 30 farmers. Farmers' samples were taken using a simple random sampling method. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The types of data in this study are qualitative data and quantitative data. There are two sources of data, namely primary and secondary data. The data analysis method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. Data were analyzed by income and feasibility analysis. The results showed that the average income received by farmers in rainfed lowland rice farming in Talabagi Village, Patimpeng District, Bone Regency was Rp. 11,081,258.61/MT. Rainfed lowland rice farming carried out by farmers in Talabagi Village, Patimpeng District, Bone Regency is feasible.

Abstract

The best or maximum income is achieved when the production level is optimal. Farmer income is one of the motivations for farmers to carry out their farming business. Profitability or farmer income and supported by good farming feasibility through the large ratio of income to farming costs. This research aims to analyze the comparative income, feasibility, and profitability of rainfed lowland rice farming. This research was conducted in Sape'e and Coppo Villages, Barru District, and Lompo Tengah and Lempang Villages, Tanete Riaja District, Barru Regency. The total population of the study was 367 people, while the sample of farmers who were used as respondents was 70 people. To get the number of samples a multi-stage cluster random sampling technique. Data collection techniques used are observation/observation, interviews, and documentation. Data sources in this research are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis method used is quantitative descriptive analysis and profitability with an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the income from rainfed lowland rice farming in the Tanete Riaja District was greater than that of the Barru District. Meanwhile, feasibility and profitability (Net Farm Income, Return on Investment, and Break Event Point) do not have a big difference between Barru District and Tanete Riaja District. Rice farming income in the research area still needs to be increased by reducing production input costs and the government must maintain subsidies for production inputs, especially fertilizer. With this subsidy, fertilizer use as recommended can be carried out to increase the production produced by farmers.
