Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in densely populated environments such as Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Crowded dormitories, shared sanitation facilities, and numerous water containers create favorable conditions for mosquito breeding, resulting in recurrent dengue cases and low larva-free indices in several pesantren in East Java. This community-based program was implemented to strengthen dengue prevention through the integration of structured health education, simple ovitrap technology, and a digital larva-monitoring website as a digital engagement model for Santri Jumantik. The program employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design conducted over three months (September–November 2025) at a pesantren in Probolinggo, involving 30 students. Interventions included dengue and PHBS education, hands-on training in constructing low-cost ovitraps from recycled materials, and weekly larval surveillance reported through a web-based monitoring system. Data were collected using knowledge questionnaires, ovitrap observations, larva-free index (ABJ) measurements, and website activity logs, and analyzed descriptively and using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ knowledge (Z = –3.996; p < 0.001), with high-level knowledge increasing from 26.7% to 86.7%. Ecological indicators also improved, as the ABJ increased from 72% to 80% and ovitrap positivity declined over time. Digital reporting compliance reached 92%, indicating strong student engagement. This integrated approach effectively strengthened dengue prevention practices and offers a scalable model for transforming pesantren into healthier learning environments.

Abstract

The evolving and persistent gender constructs in society have greatly disadvantaged women, placing them in a subordinate position and limiting their choices in life. These negative impacts have prompted women to rise and fight for gender equality, a struggle not only in the real world but also in fictional works such as Maria A. Sardjono's novel Hati Seorang Perempuan. This novel features an independent female protagonist who upholds women's self-esteem and rejects the gender construction system imposed by society. In contrast, the male protagonist in this novel is portrayed as a figure who highly upholds the gender construction system in a society steeped in patriarchy. However, the gender construction believed by the female and male protagonists in the novel is not absolute but full of instability. Therefore, this study aims to identify the instability of female and male constructions in the novel HSP. Based on the analysis, it was found that the strong, independent female character that does not care about society's views, as formed by the female protagonist in the novel HSP, cannot completely break free from society's perspective, the biological need to love and be loved, and self-fragility. A similar phenomenon occurs in the male protagonist, where the construction of men as selfish and placing women in a subordinate position, as portrayed by the male protagonist in the novel HSP, is ultimately not fixed and is full of instability, as seen in the male protagonist's logocentric opposition.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Snowball Throwing strategy in improving reading comprehension of report texts among ninth-grade students at MTsN 1 Probolinggo. Additionally, this study also determines the extent of improvement in student learning outcomes. This research addresses the issues of low reading skills and passive learning behavior among students. Initially, the learning pass rate was only 24%. Conducted in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, this study involved 25 students from class IX D. This study followed Kemmis and McTaggart's (2014) cyclical CAR model, which included a pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. Quantitative data were obtained from pre-tests and post-tests, while qualitative data were obtained from observations and field notes. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes. The average score increased from 48.0 in the pre-cycle to 72.6 in Cycle I, and peaked at 88.8 in Cycle II. The learning completion rate reached 100% in Cycle II, exceeding the success indicator of 80%. Qualitatively, students became more active, confident, and demonstrated better collaboration skills. Therefore, the Snowball Throwing strategy has proven to be very effective in improving report text comprehension and creating an interactive learning environment. Therefore, it is recommended that future research explore the effectiveness of this strategy on different types of texts or specific reading skills, such as inference.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) teachers in enhancing their skills to design deep learning through innovative training. The program was conducted at MTs Al-Fauzi and involved 20 teachers as participants. Initial analysis revealed that most teachers were in the medium (45%) and low (35%) categories, while only 20% achieved the high category. This indicated that teachers faced challenges in integrating higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), problem-solving, and project-based learning into their lesson plans. After the training, a significant shift occurred: the low category decreased to 10%, the medium category dropped to 30%, and the high category increased to 60%. These results demonstrate that innovative training through hands-on practice, collaborative discussion, and lesson design simulation was effective in improving teachers’ skills. However, the program had several limitations, including limited training duration, short-term evaluation, and a relatively small number of participants. Therefore, continuous mentoring and follow-up activities are recommended to ensure that the improved skills are consistently applied in daily classroom practices.

Abstract

Background: Household organic waste in Indonesia, which accounts for over 40% of total solid waste, creates major environmental, economic, and health challenges, especially in semi-urban areas with limited waste management systems and low community participation. This study explores the potential of eco-enzymes as a community-based innovation to reduce organic waste while promoting ecological literacy and environmental citizenship. Methods: A qualitative case study was conducted in Lebak Regency (September 2024–January 2025) involving households, schools, women’s groups, youth organizations, farmers, and the local environmental agency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis, and were analysed thematically following the Miles and Huberman framework. Results: The findings show that eco-enzyme training led to high adoption among participants, resulting in a noticeable reduction of household organic waste and methane emissions, while also strengthening community networks. Schools demonstrated higher levels of participation compared to households, indicating a gap between institutional practices and daily behaviour. Contribution: This study contributes an integrative and replicable model that combines technical innovation with community empowerment. Conclusion: Eco-enzyme interventions enhanced ecological literacy, encouraged pro-environmental behaviour, and supported local socio-economic activities, aligning with SDG 11.6 and 12.3. These findings highlight the importance of cross-sector collaboration linking schools, households, and communities for sustainable waste management.

Abstract

Message protection remains a major focus in the field of cryptography. This study proposes a new development on the Caesar cipher algorithm by utilizing hypergraph as a keystream generation source. The research designs a super (a,d)-hyperedge antimagic total labeling method applied to three hypergraph structures (Volcano, Semi Parachute, and Comb) to generate the keystream. Security is evaluated using four mechanisms: brute force analysis, processing time, ciphertext character distribution, and ciphertext bit size. The findings prove that the hypergraph based approach is robust against brute force attacks, improve memory and time efficiency. Quantitatively, the Comb hypergraph demonstrates the best efficiency, achieving an encryption time of 0.0030 seconds for 512 bytes and superior storage efficiency (e.g., 136 bytes for 16 bytes ), outperforming the Semi Parachute and Volcano structures. The main contributions include the hypergraph labeling-based keystream generation algorithm, dynamic block key construction, and a Vigenere protocol that is more adaptive to storage constraints and computationally efficient..

Abstract

This study explores Haflatul Imtihan at TPQ Tarbiyatul Quran Probolinggo, not merely as an academic examination mechanism, but as a meaningful event (Ereignis) that constitutes the community's spiritual world. While conventional sociological approaches often reduce such rituals to their functional roles as tools for education or social cohesion—this research adopts a Sociology of Ereignis framework to understand how the event discloses the lived religious experience of the participants. Through phenomenological engagement and reflexive observation, the study reveals that Haflatul Imtihan serves as a moment of mutual disclosure where the sacred (the Quran) and the social (the community) are intertwined. It is not just a test of memory, but a transformative event where the identity of the community is continuously re-enacted and the presence of the divine is felt as a shared reality. The findings suggest that true community empowerment emerges not from technical management, but from the authentic participation in these world-shaping events.

Abstract

For centuries, men have been considered the dominant gender, exercising hegemony over women. On the other hand, women have been conceptualized as subordinates who obey the orders of men. However, in reality, all images of male power and domination are just myths, a construction made by society to perpetuate patriarchy. Warren Farrel argues that the concept of male superiority is mistaken, as evidenced by the empirical data he presents, which shows that men have long been subordinate to women. Through the Korean drama The World of The Marriade (TWoTM), this study attempts to examine the myth of male power depicted in TWoTM and the concept of power reflected in TWoTM. This study examines alternative perspectives in the gender discourse, which has traditionally been fixated on women's rights and the feminist movement. Hopefully, this study can contribute to the ongoing evolution of gender studies, encouraging inclusivity in various dimensions and transcending the boundaries of monolithic gender narratives.
