Abstract

Introduction. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is glucose intolerance in pregnancy due to reduced ability of pancreatic beta cells to produce insulin, causing oxidative stress that triggers various complications such as brain apoptosis to locomotor disorders and decreased head size which has an impact on mortality rates. Pharmacological treatment of GDM has side effects that risk affecting fetal development. Therefore, curcumin as a herbal medicine can be an option for GDM treatment because it can increase insulin sensitivity by activating the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) receptor. Methods. Post Test Only Control Group Design was used in this experimental study which was tested on each research variable consisting of 25 zebrafish embryos divided into 5 treatment groups consisting of a negative control, a positive control exposed to 3% glucose, and a diabetic group given curcumin nanoemulsion with three different doses (0.3125 μg/ml, 0.625 μg/ml, 1.25 μg/ml). One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Tukey tests were used to analyze the data from this study. Results. P value from One Way ANOVA test p=0.024 for brain apoptosis, p=0.00 for locomotor ability, p=0.04 for head size, and p=0.006 for mortality rate. Turkey Post Hoc test showed significant differences in the control and 3% glucose + 0.625 µg/ml curcumin nanoemulsion groups (p<0.05). Conclusion. Curcumin nanoemulsion therapy has an effect on decreasing brain apoptosis, increasing locomotor, inhibiting the decrease in head size, and decreasing the mortality rate in zebrafish with gestational diabetes. The most effective dose of curcumin nanoemulsion is 0.625 µg/ml.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology in the digital era demands that teachers integrate technology into the learning process. This challenge not only requires technical skills but also a high level of work motivation. This study aims to describe and analyze the influence of the principal’s transformational leadership in enhancing teacher work motivation at SDN Rancaekek 05 in the digital era. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. Informants included the principal, teachers, and other educational staff. The findings reveal that the principal acts as a transformational leader through four key dimensions: setting an example and providing positive influence, delivering an inspiring vision, encouraging innovation in facing digital challenges, and attending to the individual needs and potential of teachers. Strategies implemented include technology training, teacher rewards, and open, participatory communication. This study highlights how transformational leadership can practically foster an adaptive work culture and enhance teachers’ professional motivation amid the challenges of the digital age, particularly in public elementary schools operating with limited resources.

Abstract

Various studies related to family strength indicators have been carried out in various countries. However, research on family strength in Asia, especially in Indonesia, which has a variety of cultures is still not widely conducted. The purpose of this study was to properly explore key indicators of Sundanese family strength in Bandung City, West Java, Indonesia. This study used the qualitative approach specifically the phenomenology method. The participants were four Sundanese families in Bandung City, who identify its family members are Sundanese and are confirmed by the surrounding community as Sundanese. Data were analyzed with thematic analysis. The result uncovered five themes: 1) accommodating conflict strategy or “silih narima” 2.) positive communication 3.) the emotional intimacy 4.) knowing (philosophy of life) or “neang elmu” 5.) the social support of the family of origin. The implication of these findings is discussed.

Abstract

Kanker serviks merupakan salah satu penyebab utama kematian akibat kanker pada wanita, terutama di negara berkembang. Cisplatin adalah obat kemoterapi yang umum digunakan, tetapi penggunaannya dalam dosis tinggi sering menyebabkan efek samping toksik seperti kerusakan ginjal (nefrotoksisitas), yang dapat terjadi pada 25–33% pasien pada dosis 75–100 mg/m². Untuk mengurangi toksisitas dan meningkatkan efektivitas terapi, kombinasi cisplatin dengan senyawa alami seperti nanokurkumin mulai dikembangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi potensi kombinasi cisplatin dan nanokurkumin dalam menghambat proliferasi dan menurunkan ekspresi PI3K pada sel kanker serviks HeLa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimental dengan post-test only control group. Sel HeLa diberi perlakuan cisplatin (2,5 dan 5 µg/mL), nanokurkumin (100 µg/mL), serta kombinasi cisplatin 2,5 µg/mL dengan nanokurkumin (25, 50, dan 100 µg/mL). Evaluasi mencakup morfologi sel, uji viabilitas menggunakan CCK-8, dan analisis ekspresi PI3K menggunakan flow cytometry. Analisis statistik dilakukan dengan uji Kruskal-Wallis, dilanjutkan uji post hoc Dunn, dengan nilai signifikansi p < 0,05. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi cisplatin 2,5 µg/mL dan nanokurkumin 100 µg/mL secara signifikan menurunkan viabilitas sel dibandingkan cisplatin 2,5 µg/mL saja (p = 0,035), serta memiliki efektivitas yang sebanding dengan cisplatin 5 µg/mL (p = 0,553). Penurunan ekspresi PI3K juga signifikan dibandingkan kontrol negatif (p = 0,000), cisplatin 2,5 µg/mL (p = 0,006), dan cisplatin 5 µg/mL (p = 0,010). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi cisplatin dan nanokurkumin berpotensi sebagai terapi kanker serviks yang efektif.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping the character and morals of the younger generation, with pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) being one of the key institutions. However, efforts to improve the quality of learning in pesantren face various challenges, particularly in the implementation of ineffective educational supervision. Preliminary research findings indicate that the pesantren under study lacks a structured and systematic supervision system. This is due to supervision that is considered to not meet the expected standards, which consequently impacts the quality of education, leading to less optimal learning outcomes. This study aims to identify effective supervision techniques to enhance the quality of learning in Islamic educational institutions. Using a qualitative approach through a case study method, this research was conducted at Pesantren Al-Falah in Krui Pesisir Barat Lampung. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and participant observation, which were then analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify key themes related to supervision techniques. The findings classify supervision techniques into two main categories: individual supervision and group supervision. The study emphasizes the importance of active participation from leaders and supervisors to support the optimal implementation of supervision techniques. Furthermore, integrating supervision techniques with Islamic educational values is necessary to build a culture of sustainable learning. Therefore, implementing a structured, integrated, and Islam-based supervision program can significantly improve educational quality, while also serving as a reference for the development of future supervision policies.

Abstract

Supportive care is an interprofessional collaborative care approach between health personnel, modified through affirmative therapy, psychotherapy, and zoning, to optimize health services for information needs, emotional, spiritual, social or physical during diagnostic treatment or follow-up phase for patients with lung cancer. However, so far, hospital health personnel rarely use supportive care methods. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the impact of implementing supportive care on depression and quality of life in lung cancer patients. The method used is a quasi-experimental design or pre-experimental design with a post-test approach of control group design. The sample size employed in this study was 44 respondents. The results showed that supportive care had a significant effect on depression and quality of life of lung cancer inpatients. A further recommendation from this study is that hospitals are expected to apply supportive care methods and carry out further research to develop innovative models of supportive care

Abstract

Kanker serviks merupakan salah satu jenis kanker yang sering dijumpai pada wanita dan penyebab utama kematian di negara berkembang, termasuk Indonesia. Kemoterapi berbasis cisplatin merupakan terapi standar, namun penggunaannya dibatasi oleh toksisitas yang bergantung pada dosis, seperti nefrotoksisitas, neurotoksisitas, dan  kardiotoksisitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efek sinergis kombinasi nanokurkumin dan cisplatin terhadap tingkat apoptosis dan ekspresi Protein Kinase B (AKT) pada sel HeLa. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain post-test only control group, dengan kelompok kontrol negative (media standar), kontrol positif monoterapi cisplatin (5 dan 2,5 µg/mL), nanokurkumin (100 µg/mL), serta kombinasi cisplatin 2,5 µg/mL dan nanokurkumin berbagai dosis (25, 50, dan 100 µg/mL). Uji flow cytometry digunakan untuk menganalisis tingkat apoptosis dan ekspresi AKT setelah 48 jam inkubasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi cisplatin 2,5 µg/mL dan nanokurkumin 100 µg/mL menyebabkan apoptosis (75,23%) pada sel HeLa yang sebanding (p<0.05) dengan efek cisplatin tunggal 5 µg/mL (76,15%) serta secara signifikan (p<0,05) menurunkan ekspresi AKT pada sel HeLa (76,53%) dibanding cisplatin 5 µg/mL (97,18%) serta cisplatin 2,5 µg/mL (97,24%). Peningkatan apoptosis dan penurunan ekspresi AKT menunjukkan potensi terapi kombinasi ini dalam mengurangi dosis cisplatin yang diperlukan dengan harapan dapat menurunkan toksisitas.

Abstract

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is hyperglycemia during pregnancy, which can increase oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species (ROS). This oxidative stress can adversely affect fetal developmental processes, including body length, ocular development, blood flow, and heart rate. Curcuma longa extract, containing curcumin, has been shown to possess antidiabetic and antioxidant properties. Nanoemulsions have demonstrated efficacy in enhancing the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of herbal compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a nanoemulsion of Curcuma longa extract on body length, ocular apoptosis, blood flow, and heart rate in zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos exposed to high glucose concentrations. Zebrafish has many benefits as it has 70% orthologous genes with humans, high fecundity, and rapid embryogenesis. Nanoemulsions were prepared using the self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (SNEDDS) technique. Embryos were allocated to five groups: control, 3% glucose, and 3% glucose with 1.25, 2.5, or 5 µg/mL nanoemulsion of Curcuma longa extract. The results showed that a 1.25 µg/mL nanoemulsion of Curcuma longa extract reduced phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) expression, increased body length, and mitigated developmental process disorders by decreasing ocular apoptosis and maintaining blood flow and heart rate in high glucose-induced zebrafish embryos. These findings suggest that a nanoemulsion of Curcuma longa extract may have potential therapeutic applications in managing the adverse effects of hyperglycemia on fetal development in GDM.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the interconnection between organizational theory, power, and politics in the context of digital transformation, focusing on identifying new patterns in organizational power dynamics and their implications for management effectiveness Research Methodology: This study adopts a qualitative meta-analysis of 150 academic articles from reputable journals (2000-2024) using Scopus, Web of Science, and JSTOR databases. The analysis used ATLAS.ti software for thematic coding and content analysis, with validation through expert panel reviews from 12 senior academics in the field of organizational theory. Results: This study identifies five transformative patterns in organizational power: the digitization of authority, hybridization of power structures, emergence of virtual politics, reconfiguration of the influence base, and evolution of control mechanisms. The developed analytical framework integrates digital, structural, and relational dimensions in the analysis of an organization’s power. Conclusions: Digital transformation reshapes processes and power, requiring managers to adapt their strategies to balance authority, relationships, and virtual influence arenas. Limitations: The major limitations include a focus on the formal organization of the technology and financial sectors and the dominance of literature from advanced economies. The research does not include a direct empirical analysis of power dynamics in purely virtual organizations. Contribution: This study contributes to the development of contemporary organizational theory through the integration of digital perspectives in power analysis and provides a practical framework for organizational political management in the digital era.

Abstract

Fenomena tentang ketidakjujuran saat ini menjadi hal yang sangat faktual. Dampak dari ketidakjujuran seperti korupsi, kecurangan akademik dan menyebarnya berita hoax dimedia sosial yang meresahkan masyarakat. sementara Islam sangat menekankan kejujuran akan perilaku kejujuran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana konsep kejujuran dalam perspektif psikologi Islam melalui kajian konsep dan empiris. Kajian dalam studi ini ditempuh dengan dua acara yaitu, yang pertama dengan kajian literature dan yang kedua kajian empiris. Kajian literature meliputi kajian ayat suci al-Qur’an, Hadits dan pendapat tokoh Islam yang membahas tentang kejujuran. Jalan yang kedua adalah melalui cara empiris dengan melakukan interview terhadap 2 orang guru yang telah berhasil menerapkan pendidikan kejujuran di sekolahnya dan 3 mahasiswa program doktor jurusan Psikologi Pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam penelitian kualitatif dengan rancangan grounded theory. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jujur yang dimaknai oleh subjek penelitian hampir sama dengan apa yang terdapat dalam kajian Islam. Kejujuran merupakan kebenaran yaitu kesesuaian antara ucapan, perbuatan, perasaan dengan kenyataan sebenarnya. Islam mewajibkan prilaku jujur tentu karena ada sebab yaitu akan membawa manusia pada kebaikan. Orang yang jujur adalah mereka yang memiliki jiwa pahlawan dan berani menerima kenyataan serta kejujuran dapat meningkatkan ketenangan, dan kesehatan seseorang baik secara fisik maupun secara psikis.
