Abstract

This study aims to explore an effective educational supervision approach in the context of education in Indonesia, taking into account the influence of religious and cultural values. The background of this study is based on the importance of the role of supervisors in supporting teachers to achieve the educational goals that have been set. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, where data is collected through observation and interviews with educators as key informants. The findings of the study indicate that a collaborative and non-directive supervision approach is more effective in improving the quality of teaching, compared to a directive approach. In addition, social interaction between supervisors and teachers has been shown to be important in building better understanding and practice. The implications of this study emphasize the need for training for supervisors to develop skills in providing constructive feedback and creating a supportive working atmosphere. Thus, this study contributes to the development of better educational supervision practices, which can improve the quality of education in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the managerial implementation of the Qur’an memorization (tahfiz) program in maintaining students’ memorization consistency at SMAN 2 Bandar Lampung using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model. This research employed a qualitative evaluative approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the program is relevant to strengthening students’ religious character, although the objectives have not been formulated in measurable terms. The program is supported by adequate resources; however, limitations remain in curriculum structure, facilities, and funding. The implementation process has been carried out, yet monitoring, coordination, and motivational reinforcement are not optimal. The program has a positive impact on students’ memorization achievement and religious attitudes, although memorization consistency has not been fully sustained. Strengthening managerial aspects is essential to ensure program sustainability.

Abstract

Subjective well-being is a crucial indicator of positive psychological functioning among university students. However, loneliness remains a prevalent psychosocial issue in this population and is consistently associated with lower levels of subjective well-being. While previous studies have established a strong negative association between loneliness and subjective well-being, the psychological mechanisms underlying this relationship require further examination. This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of psychological immunity in the association between loneliness and subjective well-being among university students. Data were collected from 347 undergraduate students aged 18–25 years using standardized self-report measures assessing loneliness, psychological immunity, and subjective well-being. Mediation analysis revealed that loneliness was negatively associated with psychological immunity, while psychological immunity was positively associated with subjective well-being. Furthermore, psychological immunity partially mediated the relationship between loneliness and subjective well-being (indirect effect = −0.246, 95% CI [−0.395, −0.098]). These findings suggest that psychological immunity may represent an important internal psychological process linking loneliness and subjective well-being. The results highlight the potential value of strengthening psychological immunity as a target for interventions aimed at enhancing subjective well-being among university students experiencing loneliness.

Abstract

Substance use rehabilitation is commonly approached through biomedical and psychosocial frameworks, with comparatively limited attention to how moral and spiritual meanings are constructed within recovery processes. In contexts where religious belief systems are embedded in everyday life, recovery may involve not only behavioral change but also the reinterpretation of self, responsibility, and life purpose. This study explores how individuals undergoing rehabilitation interpret and make sense of their recovery experiences through a da’wah counseling approach. An interpretive qualitative study was conducted at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Lampung, Indonesia. Data were generated through in-depth interviews involving counselors and clients undergoing rehabilitation. Analysis focused on interpreting how participants understood and negotiated their experiences, using an iterative process of coding, comparison, and thematic interpretation. Findings indicate that da’wah counseling was experienced by participants as a process of moral and spiritual meaning-making rather than solely as religious instruction. Through guided reflection and value-oriented dialogue, clients reinterpreted their past behaviors, reframed recovery as a form of moral responsibility, and reconstructed a sense of self aligned with religious and social values. Practices such as remembrance (dzikir), repentance (taubah), and trust in God (tawakkul) were not only performed but imbued with personal meaning, serving as resources for managing emotional distress and sustaining behavioral change. Participants described recovery as a process of becoming more self-aware, emotionally regulated, and oriented toward purposeful living. These findings do not claim effectiveness but offer interpretive insight into how recovery is shaped through moral and spiritual meaning-making within a specific cultural and institutional context. The study contributes to culturally responsive counseling by illustrating how religious concepts can function as interpretive resources through which individuals understand and sustain change.

The Community Service Program (CSP) conducted for the elderly at the Tresna Werdha Social Home in Yogyakarta aims to provide care for the elderly, who generally experience mental changes that can lead to depression or stress and long-term health decline. Mental changes due to age are common in everyone. Therefore, attention is needed from the social environment. Therefore, there needs to be special attention to the welfare of the elderly, including efforts to create an environment that supports them physically, mentally, and socially. Devotion and social activities such as gymnastics and coloring can be effective solutions to improve the happiness and quality of life of the elderly, especially at the Tresna Werdha Social Home in Yogyakarta. Caring for the elderly is not only a personal responsibility, but also a social responsibility, and efforts like this need to be continuously encouraged to create a more inclusive and caring society for the elderly generation. Abstract

Teacher discipline is one of the success qualities in the world of education. Disciplined teachers can set a good example for students. Students can develop their knowledge if they have teachers who are disciplined in administration and science. Teachers not only provide information but also help students understand the concept of effective learning. Teachers play a role in shaping students' character and ethics in interacting with other people. Apart from that, teachers also play a role in fostering student independence and confidence. So teachers are one of the internal factors in the quality of education. In this case, teachers must be required to be professional, for example teachers providing creative and innovative learning to encourage students to achieve optimal achievement. Disciplined teachers are also one of the keys to the success of the quality of education in a school.

Abstract

This research examines the strategy for implementing the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum based on local wisdom which was developed through collaboration between Baitul Kirom Islamic Boarding School and Al-Kirom Subing Karya Vocational School. The aim of this research is to analyze the process of planning, implementing and evaluating the Islamic boarding school curriculum which is integrated into the vocational education context. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, data was collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The research results show that curriculum planning is carried out through systematic stages which include goal formulation, curricular content preparation, learning strategies, and evaluation design. At the implementation stage, the role of teaching staff competence is the key to success, supported by the use of classical books such as Ta'lim al-Muta'allim and Fathul Qarib, as well as the application of the bandongan method. Evaluation of implementation is carried out taking into account contemporary needs of students and societal expectations. The evaluation results show that the integration of the Islamic boarding school curriculum significantly increases the internalization of Islamic values, forms religious character, and improves the quality of students' religious understanding. This integrative model has succeeded in creating an educational ecosystem that is not only responsive to the demands of the world of work, but also maintains spiritual values. This research recommends strengthening teacher capacity, diversifying technology-based learning resources, and increasing inter-institutional networks as sustainable strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate Total Quality Management (TQM) from the perspectives of Deming, Juran, and Crosby in improving educational quality at Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (PKBM). The urgency of this study is grounded in the need for PKBM, as a community-based non-formal education institution, to strengthen service quality, institutional accountability, tutor competence, stakeholder participation, and continuous improvement culture. This study employed a qualitative literature review with an evaluative-conceptual approach by synthesizing theoretical works, empirical studies, and policy-oriented literature related to TQM, quality assurance, non-formal education, and Community Learning Centres. The analysis was conducted through thematic synthesis by mapping Deming’s principles of systemic leadership and continuous improvement, Juran’s quality trilogy of planning, control, and improvement, and Crosby’s principles of conformance to requirements, prevention, and zero defects. The findings indicate that the three perspectives offer complementary contributions to PKBM quality improvement. Deming strengthens process orientation and sustainable quality culture; Juran provides a structured mechanism for quality planning, monitoring, and institutional improvement; while Crosby reinforces service consistency, administrative accuracy, and prevention of quality failure. This study concludes that TQM can serve as a contextual evaluation framework for improving PKBM governance, learning services, tutor professionalism, learner satisfaction, and stakeholder trust. The implication of this study is that PKBM managers and policymakers need to develop clearer quality standards, strengthen internal evaluation, improve tutor capacity, and institutionalize continuous improvement as the basis of non-formal education quality management.
