Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing need for educational institutions to develop a quality assurance system that is not merely oriented toward administrative compliance but also strengthens governance, academic services, learner satisfaction, accountability, and continuous improvement. This study aims to analyze the integration of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 21001:2018 in strengthening the quality assurance system of educational institutions, particularly in relation to internal quality assurance systems, national accreditation, quality culture, and educational values. This research employed a qualitative approach with an integrative literature review design by analyzing scholarly articles, ISO standard documents, quality assurance regulations, and relevant literature on educational quality management. The findings indicate that ISO 9001:2015 serves as a generic foundation for quality management systems based on process approach, risk-based thinking, performance evaluation, and continual improvement, while ISO 21001:2018 provides a more specific orientation for educational organizations by positioning learners, beneficiaries, curriculum, learning processes, assessment, accessibility, and stakeholder satisfaction at the center of quality management.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a conceptual model of institutional economic independence through social entrepreneurship in Islamic educational institutions. The issue is important because many educational institutions depend on tuition, donations, and unstable external support, while social expectations toward access, quality, and community empowerment continue to increase. Methods: This article uses an integrative literature review by synthesizing studies on social entrepreneurship, hybrid organization, nonprofit finance, pesantren business units, cooperative governance, and sustainable institutional management. The analysis was conducted through thematic coding, conceptual comparison, and model construction. Results: The study identifies five interrelated elements of economic independence: asset mapping, social value proposition, diversified income portfolio, hybrid governance, and impact-based reinvestment. Social entrepreneurship enables institutions to generate revenue without abandoning their educational and social missions, provided that accountability, transparency, mission protection, and stakeholder participation are institutionalized. Novelty: The article offers an institutional economic independence model that integrates global social entrepreneurship theory with the Indonesian Islamic education context. The proposed model positions business activities not as commercial deviation, but as a mission-driven strategy to strengthen educational sustainability, social impact, and community welfare.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low ability of students in reading the Qur’an and understanding tajwid, particularly in the aspects of makharijul huruf, tajwid rules, shifatul huruf, bacaan gharib, and waqaf wa ibtida’. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the Yanbu’a method in improving students’ understanding of tajwid at Darusy Syafa’ah Islamic Boarding School and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employed a qualitative field research approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving Yanbu’a halaqah teachers and students. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the Yanbu’a method was implemented systematically through halaqah learning using talaqqi, musyafahah, sorogan, tashih, and muroja’ah methods. The method proved effective in improving students’ Qur’anic reading skills, especially in makharijul huruf, tajwid rules, shifatul huruf, bacaan gharib, and waqaf wa ibtida’. Supporting factors included teacher competence, direct practice-based learning, and a conducive Islamic boarding school environment, while inhibiting factors included differences in students’ basic abilities and limited learning time.

Abstract

Effective academic supervision focuses not only on the technical-pedagogical aspects, but also on the values and ethics of the process. This study aims to analyze the practice of academic supervision at the Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School through the lens of two fundamental Islamic principles: Al-'Adl and Musyawarah. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with supervisors and supervised teachers, and documentation studies. The research findings indicate that the Al-'Adl principle is manifested in the form of: (1) objectivity in assessment based on clear and transparent criteria; (2) equal treatment regardless of teacher background; and (3) providing proportional and balanced feedback between strengths and areas of improvement. Meanwhile, the Musyawarah principle is implemented through: (1) a dialogic supervision process, where teachers are given space to express their opinions and difficulties; (2) collective discussion of teaching improvement solutions; and (3) final decision-making that takes into account input from the teachers concerned. This study concludes that the integration of Al-'Adl and Musyawarah values in academic supervision creates an environment that emphasizes not only control, but also development (tarbiyah), empowerment, and trust.

Abstract

External quality assurance in Islamic higher education requires an evaluation model that moves beyond administrative compliance toward continuous improvement, ethical governance, and value-based institutional transformation. This study aims to reconstruct the evaluation of the External Quality Assurance System for Islamic Higher Education Institutions through the integration of Total Quality Management and maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah. The study employed qualitative document analysis and literature review. The corpus consisted of 31 key sources comprising national quality assurance regulations, accreditation instruments, Islamic higher education quality assurance guidelines, foundational theories, and scholarly literature on quality assurance, quality culture, Total Quality Management, accreditation, digital quality assurance, and maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah published or used within the 1986–2026 range. Data were analysed using thematic synthesis, theoretical comparison, and source triangulation. The findings reveal four major themes: the shift toward outcome-based and evidence-based accreditation, the persistence of compliance-oriented practices, the gap between formal quality systems and institutional quality culture, and the relevance of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah as an ethical framework for reconstructing accreditation. The integration of Total Quality Management strengthens the logic of continuous improvement, while maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah reframes accreditation as a mechanism to protect religion, intellect, life, property, and future generations. This study contributes a value-based continuous improvement framework for reconstructing external quality assurance in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the integration of educational supervision principles with Islamic values derived from the Qur’an and Hadith. Educational supervision plays a strategic role in improving learning quality, teacher performance, and professional development. However, in practice, supervision is often reduced to administrative and technical activities, thereby neglecting its moral and spiritual dimensions. From an Islamic perspective, supervision is understood as a continuous developmental process grounded in the values of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar, shūrā (consultation), muraqabah (self-awareness before God), amanah (responsibility), and iḥsān (continuous improvement). This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, examining primary sources such as the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical as well as contemporary tafsir, along with secondary sources including relevant books and scholarly articles. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method to explore the relationship between modern educational supervision concepts and Islamic values. The findings indicate a strong alignment between supervision principles such as guidance, participation, objectivity, and sustainability and Islamic values of justice, honesty, responsibility, and continuous improvement. This integration results in an Islamic educational supervision model that positions supervisors as both professional and spiritual mentors in fostering an educational work culture grounded in faith, knowledge, and ethical practice.

Abstract

The traditional paradigm of supervision—previously administrative and inspection-oriented—must now evolve into a model that is collaborative, responsive, and evidence-based. This article explores how Islamic educational supervision practices can be adapted through visionary leadership that integrates digitalization, Islamic values, and 21st-century competencies. The research method employed is a systematic literature review and conceptual analysis of English and Indonesian scientific publications from 2020–2025 discussing educational supervision, Islamic educational leadership, digital transformation, and the Industry 5.0 concept. Content analysis techniques were used to extract major themes and formulate a conceptual framework for adaptive supervision. The findings indicate that visionary leadership capable of formulating a “human-centric” and digital vision, supporting the digitalization of supervisory processes, and integrating Islamic values within technological guidelines is a key factor for successful adaptive supervision. Supervision designed through collaborative teacher engagement, peer-supervision, and real-time data utilization accelerates the transformation of learning practices.

Abstract

Learning Islamic Religious Education on practical worship materials, especially funeral arrangements, requires understanding that is not only theoretical, but also applicable through direct experience. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the experiential learning model in improving students' understanding of funeral arrangements material at MAS Baitul Kirom. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The research subjects include Islamic Religious Education teachers and Madrasah Aliyah students. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out inductively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, and its validity was tested by triangulation of sources and methods. The results of the study indicate that the experiential learning model is applied systematically through four stages, namely concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. The implementation of this model provides a meaningful learning experience and contributes positively to students' understanding in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Overall, student understanding was in the good category, with an average class score of 82, and 79% of students achieving the Minimum Completion Criteria. Thus, the experiential learning model has proven relevant and effective in improving student understanding of practical worship materials on funeral arrangements and can be used as an alternative contextual and applicable Islamic Religious Education learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a conceptual model of organizational dynamics for environmentally oriented Islamic educational institutions grounded in Islamic ecotheology. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), publications from 2010 to 2025 were examined across major academic databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis, SAGE, DOAJ, SINTA, GARUDA, and Moraref. The review followed the PRISMA 2020 framework and resulted in the inclusion of 32 eligible articles. The findings reveal that ecological transformation within Islamic educational institutions relies on the coherence of four interrelated elements: the internalization of ecotheological values within institutional vision and strategy, prophetic-transformational leadership that drives organizational change, structural and policy frameworks that institutionalize sustainability principles, and a participatory organizational culture that cultivates an ecological habitus among institutional members. These elements interact dynamically to shape sustainable institutional practices. The proposed conceptual model contributes theoretically to the discourse on sustainable Islamic educational management and provides practical guidance for pesantren, madrasahs, and Islamic higher education institutions in their transition toward becoming Islamic Green Institutions.
