Abstract

Introduction: Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation is a key component of digital transformation in healthcare. This study evaluated the perceived effectiveness of EMR implementation in a regional Indonesian hospital by examining three empirically measured determinants, namely efficiency, accuracy, and system quality. The objective was narrowed to provide evidence on how these factors predict perceived EMR effectiveness within a single-site, low-resource setting without extending to unmeasured constructs such as health literacy or health promotion. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 100 healthcare professionals using a structured, validated questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests with effect sizes, and logistic regression with odds ratios and confidence intervals. Analyses examined how perceptions of efficiency, accuracy, and system quality predicted perceived EMR implementation effectiveness. Results: Respondents reported high perceptions of efficiency (96%), accuracy (94%), and system quality (95%). All three determinants were significantly associated with perceived EMR effectiveness (p < 0.001), with effect sizes indicating strong relationships. Logistic regression showed that system quality had the largest effect size (OR=7.02; 95% CI 2.04–24.10), followed by efficiency (OR=5.83; 95% CI 1.85–18.41) and accuracy (OR=4.26; 95% CI 1.24–14.68). These results indicate that usability and reliability are central predictors of perceived implementation effectiveness in this context. Conclusion: This single-site study provides empirical evidence on the determinants of perceived EMR implementation effectiveness in a regional Indonesian hospital. System quality emerged as the strongest predictor, emphasizing the need for user-friendly, reliable systems supported by training and governance. Because the study did not directly measure health literacy or health promotion outcomes, such impacts are identified as areas for future research rather than conclusions. The results offer practical guidance for improving EMR adoption and inform ongoing work in technology acceptance frameworks.

Abstract

The increasing use of automated evaluation systems in language assessment raises questions about their acceptance and perceived fairness compared to human evaluation. This study examines how English Education students perceive automated and human assessment of spoken English proficiency, focusing on factors influencing acceptance and preferences for hybrid models. A mixed-methods design was employed with 120 English Education students (80 female, 40 male) from Universitas Negeri Makassar. Quantitative data were collected using a 20-item Likert-scale questionnaire (Cronbach’s α = .87) covering six dimensions: Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, Attitude Toward Technology, Self-Efficacy, Behavioral Intention, and Personal Innovativeness. Qualitative data from semi-structured interviews explored students’ experiences and preferences regarding automated and human evaluation. Descriptive statistics indicated generally positive perceptions of automated evaluation, with the highest mean scores for “Automated feedback helps improve pronunciation and fluency” (M = 3.9, SD = 0.928) and “I enjoy playing with new technology in language acquisition” (M = 4.0, SD = 1.071). However, the lowest score for “I plan to use automated evaluation frequently” (M = 2.7, SD = 1.071) reflected hesitancy toward regular use. Thematic analysis revealed three main themes: appreciation of efficiency but skepticism about accuracy, preference for human empathy and contextual understanding, and concerns about algorithmic bias, particularly for non-standard accents. Students strongly favored a hybrid approach, endorsing AI for preliminary feedback and routine practice while valuing human evaluation for comprehensive assessment and motivational support. These findings suggest the need for transparent, inclusive AI tools integrated with human oversight to achieve balanced, pedagogically sound evaluation frameworks in English language education.

Abstract

This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach to explore students’ perceptions of lecturer code-switching in a hybrid English learning environment at IAIN Bone, South Sulawesi. The research site, IAIN Bone, is the largest higher education institution in Bone Regency, where hybrid learning known as combining online and offline instruction and it is still practiced there. This location was chosen based on initial observations showing that many students struggle to fully understand lessons delivered entirely in English. Participants in the study were fourth-semester students enrolled in an English Education hybrid class during the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and continued until data saturation was achieved. The findings indicate that code-switching positively influenced students’ learning experiences. Students reported that bilingualism in the context of code-switching helped them better understand the material, reduced their anxiety during lessons, and supported vocabulary development. They viewed the use of both Indonesian and English by lecturers not as a hindrance, but as a helpful instructional strategy. Overall, the students expressed favorable perceptions of code-switching, considering it an inclusive and effective approach in hybrid English language instruction. These insights suggest that code-switching can play a meaningful role in supporting student comprehension and engagement in bilingual learning environments.

Abstract

This study examines the legal certainty of the Land Certificate Letter (Surat Keterangan Tanah/SKT) in land sale and purchase transactions as proof of ownership. This study aims to analyze the legal status, evidentiary value, and level of legal certainty of SKT use in land transactions. A normative juridical approach was used, employing statutory, conceptual, and case-based analyses of the relevant literature. The results reveal that the SKT serves only as administrative proof of physical land possession and not as legal proof of ownership. The SKT provides prima facie evidence that can be used to register land ownership but does not ensure full legal protection. To guarantee legal certainty, SKT-based transactions must be followed by an official deed of sale before a Land Deed Official (PPAT) and land registration at the National Land Agency (BPN). This aligns with the legal principles of certainty (rechtszekerheid) and legal protection (rechtsbescherming) under the Indonesian Agrarian Law (UUPA) and Government Regulation No. 24 of 1997.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) method in enhancing students’ speaking skills at SMPN 2 Balocci, Pangkajene Regency. The research is grounded in Thomas’s (2000) framework of PJBL, which emphasizes learner-centered instruction through authentic, meaningful projects that require students to actively engage, collaborate, and produce tangible outcomes. It is also supported by Brown’s (2004) theory of speaking skills, which highlights three essential components—fluency, accuracy, and comprehensibility—as fundamental aspects of oral communication competence. The combination of these frameworks provided both theoretical and pedagogical foundations for this study. A pre-experimental research design with a one-group pre-test and post-test model was employed. The sample consisted of 73 purposively selected students. Data were collected through an individual speaking test divided into three sections: introduction, monologue, and interactive discussion. Students’ performances were assessed using the JACOB (1980) speaking rubric, which evaluates accuracy, fluency, and comprehensibility as indicators of communicative ability. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ speaking performance following the implementation of the PJBL method. The mean score increased substantially from the pre-test to the post-test, indicating notable progress in students’ oral proficiency. Results from the paired sample t-test confirmed that the difference between pre-test and post-test scores was statistically significant at the 0.05 level (p < 0.05). This demonstrates that the PJBL method effectively contributes to the development of students’ speaking skills. In conclusion, the Project-Based Learning method not only improved students’ ability to speak English more fluently, accurately, and comprehensibly but also fostered motivation, creativity, and collaboration in the classroom. The findings suggest that PJBL is a promising instructional approach for English language learning, particularly in contexts where communicative competence and student engagement are prioritized.

Abstract

This study investigates academic stress among students of the English Literature Study Program at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), Makassar, South Sulawesi. The objectives were: (1) to identify the main sources of academic stress, (2) to analyze internal and external contributing factors, and (3) to examine coping mechanisms employed by students across different semesters. A qualitative case study approach was applied, using semi-structured interviews as the primary instrument, followed by thematic analysis of responses from first, third, and seventh semester students. Findings revealed that stress evolves with academic progression: first-semester students experienced adjustment-related stress, third-semester students reported performance pressure and fear of failure, and seventh semester students faced graduation-related stress. Contributing factors included self-expectation, low self-efficacy, poor time management, family expectations, peer competition, and language challenges, while institutional factors were less significant. Coping mechanisms varied across semesters, ranging from personal relaxation, hobbies, and prayer to peer collaboration and institutional support, with clear gender differences in coping preferences. The study concludes that academic stress at Universitas Muslim Indonesia is dynamic and culturally embedded. It recommends semester-specific and gender-sensitive interventions, including strengthening self-efficacy, promoting adaptive coping strategies, enhancing family engagement, and providing institutional support to foster resilience and student well-being.
