Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyse the implementation of walkthrough supervision as a collaborative supervision strategy in improving the quality of learning practices at junior and senior high school levels. Method: This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with principals, teachers and supervisors, and analysis of supervision documents. The analysis process was conducted thematically to identify implementation patterns, challenges, and improvement strategies that emerged from the practice of walkthrough supervision in improving the quality of learning practices at the junior and senior high school levels at Yayasan Nurul Fikri Bina Generasi Bogor.  Results:  The results showed that walkthrough supervision in junior and senior high school of NFBS Bogor is implemented systematically through five stages by emphasising learning authenticity, continuous reflection, and teacher-supervisor collaboration. Obstacles such as time constraints, competency variations, supervisor inconsistency, and cultural factors are overcome through adaptive strategies, so that challenges actually strengthen collaboration. This supervision has an impact on improving teaching skills, classroom management, student engagement, as well as fostering a continuous reflective culture. This model has the potential to be adapted in other schools with adjustments to the vision, culture, teacher competencies and structural support.  Novelty: The innovation of this research lies in the transformation of walkthrough supervision into a collective reflective culture, the collaborative role of teachers-supervisors, and adaptive strategies to face obstacles. This model not only improves teacher competence and classroom culture, but also has the potential to be replicated with adjustments to the school context.

Abstract

This study explores the teacher’s role in facilitating the development of integrated English language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing among first-year junior high school students with low basic proficiency. Employing qualitative and quantitative methods, data were collected through teacher interviews, student Interview, classroom observations, and student questionnaires. Findings indicate that the teacher played a pivotal role in scaffolding each language skill through strategies such as multimedia use, collaborative learning, contextual teaching, and differentiated instruction. While students responded positively to engaging learning environments and appreciated support in speaking and vocabulary development, they continued to face challenges in listening comprehension, reading analysis, and grammar-based writing tasks. Integrated skills instruction, which mirrors real-life language use, was consistently applied by the teacher to enhance comprehension, motivation, and learner autonomy. Overall, students perceived the teacher’s role as effective, though more targeted support was needed for grammar instruction and comprehension-based activities. Future research should examine the long-term effects of integrated skills instruction and explore the role of technology and teacher scaffolding in supporting low-proficiency students.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of scaffolding strategies in teaching English at SMP Yapend Bungaya Makassar, focusing on teachers’ perceptions and instructional practices. The research aims to: (1) How is the teacher perception about scaffolding learning strategies in teaching English at SMP Yapend Bungaya Makassar? (2) How does the teacher apply scaffolding in teaching English at SMP Yapend Bungaya Makassar?. This qualitative study employs a case study approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subject of the study is an English teacher at SMP Yapend Bungaya Makassar. The findings reveal that teachers hold both positive and negative perceptions toward scaffolding in English instruction. On the positive side, scaffolding is seen as an effective approach to enhance student motivation, foster engagement, and support gradual understanding of complex materials. However, challenges such as time constraints and the need to balance assistance for students with varying proficiency levels were also reported. In practice, the application of scaffolding follows three main stages in accordance with Bruner’s modes of representation: (1) Enactive stage—hands-on tasks involving real objects to build concrete understanding; (2) Iconic stage—the use of visual storytelling and simple multimedia tools to aid comprehension; and (3) Symbolic stage—guided practice that gradually leads students to independent use of the English language through verbal prompts, written exercises, and feedback. The study concludes that scaffolding is a well-implemented and beneficial teaching strategy at SMP Yapend Bungaya Makassar. It provides meaningful support for students to progress from dependence to independence in their language learning journey. This strategy is particularly relevant in the context of the Kurikulum Merdeka, which emphasizes student-centered and differentiated learning. The research contributes to the growing body of literature on scaffolding in classrooms and offers practical insights for English teachers seeking to improve instructional practices.

Abstract

The role of the family is very important in shaping the development of a child's personality, especially as parents have a big influence, where they act as educators above all else. The family is the first center of education. It is in this family that children are first educated and guided. Family education is very important education, especially Islamic education which must be provided by both parents from early childhood until adulthood. Apart from that, the family also functions as a basis for forming a child's personality. Therefore, the success of education in the family must be supported by a pleasant atmosphere on the part of the family or parents themselves, as well as the child's environment and social friends. In gender education, parents have a very important role in raising and directing their children. The purpose of this research is: To explain the views of Mrs. Nyai in Madura regarding parental justice towards all children in providing education. In this research the author used qualitative and quantitative methods, data collection techniques using observation, interviews, documentation methods. The results of the research show that Nyai mothers in Madura must carry out the responsibility of educating their children for their parents. Because they believe that children are a God-given responsibility to be educated and taught. Nyai's view of the Madura Islamic Boarding School concerns the example that must be set by both parents, on the grounds that parents must be able to be role models and role models for their sons and daughters. Mothers are role models who are always imitated and imitated by their children in managing their lives. In the field of education, also for them, every child has the same right to be educated in the family, so that justice for parents in educating their children is a must.

Abstract

In Indragiri Hilir Regency, there are many ATM locations at several points in the downtown area of Tembilahan and Link Agents spread throughout Indragiri Hilir Regency. However, not all people in Indragiri Hilir Regency know the location of ATMs and Link Agents, especially those that are far from the center of Tembilahan city and from other areas that have just set foot in the downstream Indragiri district. So the researchers tried to build a Web-based Geographic Information System, by mapping the locations of ATMs and Link Agents spread across Indragiri Hilir District. The purpose of this study is to design a web-based Geographic Information System application that can provide accurate data needed by users who need information. This study uses the Waterfall development model or "Linear Sequential Model" which describes a systematic and sequential approach to software development. At the analysis stage the researcher uses PIECES analysis. The goal is to minimize the weaknesses of the system that will be made. In the process of designing the system, researchers used modeling with the UML approach. The results of this research can provide instructions and make it easier for users to find the location of the nearest ATM and Link Agent in the city of Tembilahan because the system created has already been equipped with location points and the route the user wants to go.

Abstract

This article examines the religious communication strategies of ulama (Islamic scholars) in East Aceh; analyzing their role in promoting religious moderation. Using Lessl’s theory that argues religious communication is inherently metaphorical and involves metaphysical referents, this article highlights the important role of da’wa in encouraging the acceptance of the idea of moderation within the community. This article was based on qualitative research and two months field observations of Abati Aramia and Abah Zein’s pengajian (recitation), two young and influential ulama in East Aceh. The data validation process used data triangulation by connecting field data, observation and theory to get a complete understanding of the phenomenon. This paper argues that the influence of ulama in introducing religious moderation, particularly state-promoted ideas, into local contexts is crucial. Abah Zein employs a dialogical approach, making his da’wah interactive and responsive to societal needs, while Abati Aramia emphasizes collective dialogue and consensus for maintaining societal harmony. From this study it is concluded that the ulama’s communication strategies are integral to promoting Islamic moderation, bridging the gap between religious teachings and the everyday challenges faced by the community.
