Abstract

Background: Knee osteoarthritis is the most common case suffered by elderly women. The population at high risk of experiencing knee osteoarthritis is women at 18% compared to men at around 9.6% worldwide, older age, excessive body weight, and having had a knee injury or having had previous knee surgery. Methods: The design of this study was a two-group pre-and post-test design. The research compares the effect of the myofascial release of the iliotibial band on reducing pain and increasing functional activity in knee osteoarthritis. The research subjects were all clients who had been diagnosed with osteoarthritis by a doctor. Results: The results of the test for the difference in pain scores with VAS before and after treatment in group 1 showed a value of p = 0.000 or a value of p < 0.05, while the functional ability scores with WOMAC before and after group 1 treatment showed a p-value = 0.000 or a p-value < 0.05, which means that there was an effect of standard therapy on reducing pain and increasing functional activity in osteoarthritis knees in group 1 so that the hypothesis was accepted. Conclusion: There is a difference in effect between standard therapy and standard therapy plus myofascial release of the iliotibial band to increase functional activity in knee osteoarthritis. There is a difference in the effect of standard therapy and standard therapy plus myofascial release iliotibial band on increasing functional activity (p = 0.00) in knee osteoarthritis.

Abstract

This article aims to determine the implementation of religious moderation in relations with fellow Muslims. The research used is a qualitative research method with a type of library data collection by reading books, journals or other sources that are believed to be true. Indonesia is a country consisting of many tribes, races and religions, of course this easily creates divisions. Many of the divisions themselves originate from liberal and extremist ideologies that have entered Indonesia. As a multicultural nation, Indonesia is very appropriate to practice moderation. A moderate, fair and balanced mental attitude is the main key in managing diversity. The results of this discussion show that the implementation of religious moderation in relations with fellow Muslims includes: 1) Brotherhood with fellow Muslims; 2) Say hello and pray for each other; 3) Advise others wisely; 4) Maintaining the honor of fellow Muslims; 5) Respect elders, love younger ones; 6) Mingling with members of the opposite sex who are not mahram; 7) Do not hurt Muslim feelings; 8) Help each other with the affairs of fellow Muslims.

Abstract

Tuntungan II Village is quite close to the original university, namely Universitas Sumatera Utara, which is only 15 km away. This area is currently the target area for community services activities because it is related to the rise in criminal activity in this village. This is related to the increasing difficulty for residents to obtain work. The Al Ikhlas Mosque, which is located in this village, is a mosque that was only built in the last 3 years with community self- funding and involving donations from various parties. Currently, this mosque can function as a means of large-scale congregational prayers such as Friday prayers, etc. However, due to limited funds, many facilities have not yet been met. Among these are security support facilities. Due to the limitations faced by residents, this mosque has minimal lighting and does not have its own security guard when residents perform their prayers. As a result, residents often complain about the frequent loss of motorbikes and other valuables. The entry of the community services team into this area is a breath of fresh air to answer the need for worship facilities. Now, with the installation of 8 channel closed circuit television (CCTV) with a 43inch flat television and lighting around the mosque area with 6 solar power plant-based public street lighting, it provides security and comfort for residents who worship. Losing your vehicle and shoes/sandals is now unheard of.

Abstract

Pansur Napitu Village is located in Siatas Barita District, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province. This village is 280 km from the city of Medan which can be reached using a four-wheeled vehicle in 7 hours. The village population in general is the Batak tribe which covers 90% of the total population. In general, residents have agricultural main businesses such as rice, corn and other secondary crops. Until now, rice farming is still the mainstay of farmers in this village. Almost 90% of farmers hope for their rice crops. However, farmers experience problems in handling production, where farmers have to pay additional costs to the rice mill warehouse to make it ready for market. These costs are felt to be burdensome for farmers, which results in the income that farmers will receive being relatively low. The entry of the Universitas Sumatera Utara community services team raised new hopes for the community. This activity is also assisted by 3 students who will be trained to take action to resolve this problem. Now with the implementation of a rice milling machine with a capacity of 750 kg/hour which was donated to Pansur Napitu Village, the community has become more independent in carrying out its rice milling and the costs incurred for rice milling can be reduced to become cheaper. Automatically, the community will be more helped by the donated tools.

Abstract

Introduction: Sepsis is life-threatening condition that begins with infections that trigger pro-inflammation overresponse. Delaying antibiotic treatment in sepsis can cause serious condition. In ESBL-producing bacteria, the antibiotic resistance is common and it might cause harm to sepsis patient. This research aims to analyze the correlation between infections of ESBL-producing bacteria with sepsis severity. Methods: This study was observational analytic on sepsis patient in Internal Medicine Ward of Dr. Soetomo General Hospital. The data were taken from medical records of the patient. The severity of sepsis was based on Surviving Sepsis Campaign 2012. Results: A total 72 sepsis patients were included in this study, which consist of 40 patients with non-producing ESBL GNB and 32 patients with ESBL-producing bacteria. The most common bacteria in ESBL infection is Escherichia coli ESBL+ (75%) and non ESBL infection is Acinetobacter baumanii (27.5%). Septic shock is more common in patient with ESBL-producing bacteria (53.1% vs 22.5%). The correlation between ESBL infection and sepsis severity is significant and the power of correlation is low (p = 0.048; r = 0.234). Conclusion: There is a correlation between ESBL-producing bacteria infection with sepsis severity and the power of correlation is low (p = 0.048, r = 0.234).

Abstract

Consuming food contaminated with physical, chemical, and bacteriological substances can cause diarrhea and worms, which results in children under five years old experiencing lacking nutrition and growth disorders, putting them at risk of stunting. The six principles of food sanitation hygiene aim to reduce the risk of disease transmission and health problems from consuming food. These community empowerment activities aim to increase the knowledge of health cadres in preventing stunting for children under five years old through implementation efforts of six principles of food hygiene sanitation in households. The target of this activity was 47 health cadres. Activity stages include coordination, preparation of pocketbooks, training, and evaluation. Statistical analysis was conducted for differences in health cadres' knowledge levels before and after training using the dependent t-test. The results of the coordination show that there is support and participation from 3 built villages, including Pandak, Karangmangu, and Kemutug Kidul villages. Arranged a pocketbook on stunting prevention and six principles of food sanitation hygiene as a reference for health cadres for outreach to the community. The training showed increased health cadres' knowledge before and after the activity (p-value=0.001). The results of community empowerment can be used as input for policymakers at the Baturraden II Primary Health Center and the District Health Officer Banyumas to accelerate stunting reduction through counseling on six principle hygiene sanitation implementation in households in sustainable.

Abstract

Anemia and stunting are major public health concerns in low- and middle-income countries, including Indonesia, with significant impacts on child development, morbidity, and mortality. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of improved sanitation on the co-occurrence of anemia and stunting (CAS) in Indonesian children using pooled data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) across three waves, from IFLS 3 in 2000, IFLS 4 in 2007, and IFLS 5 in 2014. The sample included 839 children aged 1–5 years with complete anthropometric and hemoglobin data, measured in 2000 as the baseline cohort and followed across subsequent waves. The main independent variable was improved sanitation, and other covariates included maternal and child characteristics, parental factors, and socio-economic status. Multinomial logistic regression was used to assess the impact of sanitation over time. The prevalence of CAS was 30.75% in 2000, 6.08% in 2007, and 4.29% in 2014. Stunting-only prevalence increased from 16.21% in 2000 to 27.41% in 2007 but decreased to 19.31% in 2014. Anemia-only prevalence decreased from 31.23% in 2000 to 10.25% in 2007 and slightly rose to 16.92% in 2014. The analysis found that children with unimproved sanitation were at significantly higher risk of CAS (crude relative risk ratio (RRR): 2.49; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.92–3.23), which decreased after adjusting for confounding factors (adjusted RRR: 1.55; 95%CI: 1.12–2.14). Similarly, the risk for anemia was higher in children with unimproved sanitation (adjusted RRR: 1.43; 95%CI: 1.07–1.90). However, the risk for stunting was not statistically significant after adjustment. This study underscores the importance of improved sanitation in reducing anemia and stunting but also highlights the need to address other factors, such as nutrition, maternal health, and socioeconomic inequalities, through comprehensive public health policies.

Abstract

The issue of defending the state, which is associated with the choice of the form of the Indonesian nation state, has often sparked fierce debate among Muslim scholars and proponents of the idea of a caliphate state. This writing is motivated by the many political events in Indonesia, which always use this issue as ammunition to force religious ideas and understandings to gain political benefits and support. Thus, the purpose of this presentation is to discuss this issue moderately in the corridor of interpretation of sources of Islamic law through the interpretation of the Quran. This writing method uses historical analysis and analysis of the al-Quran text through relevant interpretations. Ultimately, the researcher found that nationalism in the Qur'an is very close to the idea of Unity in Diversity. The researcher concludes that Indonesia is an ideal form of implementing nationalism, as the Quran desires
