Abstract

The use of visual-based digital learning media is a relevant approach to improving the quality of Informatics learning at the madrasah level; however, empirical studies that specifically examine the effect of Canva-based learning media on students’ learning outcomes in Informatics subjects at Islamic junior secondary schools (MTs) remain relatively limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Canva-based learning media on improving the learning outcomes of Grade VIII students at MTsN 1 Pasaman. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 60 students selected using simple random sampling and assigned to an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected using learning outcome tests in the form of pre-tests and post-tests that had been examined for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power, and were then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and independent samples t-tests with IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The findings indicate a positive and significant effect of Canva-based learning media on students’ learning outcomes, as evidenced by the higher average post-test scores of the experimental class compared to the control class and the statistically significant differences based on the independent samples t-test. These results provide empirical support for the development of technology-based digital learning practices and strengthen the application of a constructivist approach in Informatics learning. The study concludes by underscoring the importance of utilizing visual–interactive learning media to enhance learning effectiveness and recommends that teachers and educational institutions integrate Canva as one of their instructional strategies. The research also opens avenues for further studies with a broader sample scope and different subject areas.

Abstract

Social media among adolescents has a significant impact on behavior, psychological well-being, and character development in the digital age. These developments have given rise to various issues, such as exposure to age-inappropriate content, digital addiction, and a decline in the quality of social interactions; consequently, the Indonesian government has formulated a policy restricting social media access for adolescents under the age of 16 as an effort to protect the younger generation. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media use on adolescents, examine government policies regarding age restrictions on social media access, and assess their urgency from the perspective of Islamic character education in the digital age. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical research design through library research. Data sources were drawn from scientific literature such as books, indexed journals, and policy documents relevant to the research focus. Data analysis was conducted by examining, classifying, and synthesizing various theories and study findings related to social media, adolescent development, digital policies, and Islamic character education.  The findings indicate that social media use has complex effects on adolescents, both positive and negative, particularly in social, psychological, and behavioral development aspects. Age-restriction policies for social media access are considered highly urgent as a form of preventive protection against digital risks faced by adolescents. From the perspective of Islamic character education, such policies are relevant for supporting the process of internalizing moral values, such as self-control, responsibility, and etiquette in the use of digital technology. Keywords: Social Media, Adolescents, Islamic Character Education, Age Restrictions, Digital Age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the model of Islamic family education management contained in the novel Nasihat Siti Budiman by Syekh Sulaiman Ar-Rasuli (1938) and to examine how it relates to the challenges of family education in the digital age. The method used is a descriptive-analytical literature review, with the primary data source being the novel Nasihat Siti Budiman and secondary sources comprising literature on Islamic educational management, Islamic parenting, and studies on education in the digital age. The analysis was conducted in three stages: identification of educational management values, classification into management functions, and contextualization considering the challenges of the digital age. The research findings indicate that this novel contains a comprehensive family educational management system encompassing: (1) pre-school competency-based educational planning covering foundational knowledge of the Qur’an, fiqh, tawhid, as well as basic literacy and numeracy; (2) the organization of parental roles involving consultation with the kinship system as a model of collaborative governance; (3) the implementation of education through contextual guidance that integrates traditional and religious values; and (4) character-based evaluation covering moral conduct, life skills, and steadfastness of conviction. This model has proven relevant as a response to the crisis in family education management in the digital age, characterized by a lack of planning, weak character values, and a lack of integration of religious values into contemporary parenting practices.

Abstract

This article examines the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in Indonesia with a focus on balancing digital technology innovation and spiritual pedagogical values. This research uses systematic literature review of 47 publications from various accredited national and international journals between 2019–2024. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The use of AI in PAI can increase the efficiency of competency-based learning by up to 34%, but has the potential to reduce the affective-spiritual dimension if not managed properly; (2) There is a significant digital divide between Islamic educational institutions in urban and rural areas; (3) A hybrid model between machine intelligence and local wisdom based on Islamic boarding schools has proven effective as a bridge between modernity and tradition; and (4) The competence of PAI teachers in digital literacy is a determining factor in the success of AI implementation. This study recommends the development of an integrative pedagogical framework that positions AI as a tool (tawassul) that does not replace the spiritual and humanistic dimensions in PAI. Theoretical and practical implications for the development of national Islamic education curriculum and policies are also discussed comprehensively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze human resource planning and recruitment at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Ta'allumussibyan in the context of Islamic education. Professional and spiritually integrated human resources are key to the success of Islamic educational institutions. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data was collected from 13 teachers using a questionnaire consisting of 30 statements related to two main sub-variables: HR planning and recruitment. The results of the analysis show that the HR planning aspect received an average score of 4.29, while recruitment received a higher score of 4.53. This reflects that MI Ta'allumussibyan has implemented a fairly effective HR management system that is in line with Islamic values. The findings indicate that planning has been aligned with the madrasah's vision and mission and the actual needs of educators, although formal documentation and long-term planning still need to be improved. On the other hand, the recruitment process shows high professionalism, with assessments of the ability to read the Qur'an, understanding of Islamic values, and the involvement of religious leaders in the selection process. However, there are still weaknesses in the transparency of the selection assessment system and the potential for nepotism. This study recommends improvements in policy documentation and broader stakeholder involvement in the planning and recruitment processes. By strengthening data-driven strategies and spiritual values, the madrasah can enhance the quality of Islamic education sustainably. The findings of this study are also relevant as a reference for other madrasahs with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Although the development of creative thinking skills has received attention in various educational studies, research specifically examining the effect of the Mind Mapping method on creative thinking skills in Akidah Akhlak learning at the Madrasah Aliyah level remains limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Mind Mapping method on the creative thinking skills of Grade XII students in the Akidah Akhlak subject at MAN 3 Agam. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a non-equivalent control group design, involving 60 students selected through purposive sampling and divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using an essay test based on four creativity indicators, namely fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration, which had been tested for validity and reliability, and were then analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, gain score calculation, and an independent-samples t-test with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05), with a greater improvement in creative thinking skills among the group that used the Mind Mapping method. These findings reinforce constructivist theory and divergent creativity theory in the context of Pendidikan Agama Islam learning and extend understanding of innovative instructional strategies in madrasahs. The study concludes that the use of visual- and association-based learning methods is important for improving students’ higher-order thinking skills and recommends that Akidah Akhlak teachers integrate Mind Mapping into the learning process. The implications of this study include a theoretical contribution to enriching the literature on creative learning in Islamic education and practical implications for educational institutions in designing more participatory learning strategies oriented toward 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Abstract: Islamic education is not solely oriented toward academic achievement but also toward the formation of students' character and spirituality. This study aims to analyze the foundations of Islamic educational quality based on the values of ihsan, itqan, amanah, and integrity, and their implementation at SLB YP Peduli Anak Nagari Akabiluru. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the school principal and six permanent teachers, institutional document observation, and review of the Qur'an, hadith, and indexed scientific literature. The research was conducted from January to March 2026. Analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, SWOT analysis, and quality gap identification, with data validity maintained through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that ihsan and amanah values have been strongly internalized among teachers who continue to carry out their duties with high dedication despite limited facilities and welfare. Quality gap analysis identifies the main weaknesses in infrastructure and teacher competence, while Islamic values-based quality culture stands as the institution's primary strength. This study offers a holistic, adaptive, Qur'anic values-based Islamic educational quality model applicable to diverse Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the roles and strategies of Islamic Religious Education teachers in addressing verbal bullying among elementary school students, which still occurs in the form of taunts, inappropriate name-calling, and jokes that hurt their peers’ feelings. The study aims to describe the strategies teachers use to address this issue through counseling, behavior contracts, and parental involvement. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design, with subjects including Islamic Religious Education teachers, students involved in verbal bullying, and the students’ parents. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis utilizes the Miles and Huberman model, which encompasses data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the handling of verbal bullying is carried out in stages, beginning with counseling based on Islamic moral values, followed by a behavioral contract as a form of agreement to improve behavior within a specific timeframe, and if no change occurs, involving parents to conduct joint guidance at home and at school. The conclusion of this study indicates that the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers are phased and collaborative among teachers, students, and parents, and place greater emphasis on character development rather than merely imposing sanctions.

Abstract

Traditional Quranic learning methods rooted in local Islamic intellectual traditions remain widely practiced in Indonesia; however, empirical studies examining their effectiveness from the perspective of parents are still limited. This study investigates parents' perceptions of the effectiveness of the Quranic learning method inherited from Shaykh Abdul Latif Syakur, a prominent Minangkabau Muslim scholar, which continues to be transmitted through a sanad-based pedagogical tradition in Quranic learning institutions. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 14 items covering two dimensions: reading fluency and Quranic writing ability. A total of 56 parents of students were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, including mean scores and frequency distributions. The findings reveal a highly positive perception of the method's effectiveness, with an overall mean score of 4.35 out of 5. The reading fluency dimension obtained a mean score of 4.34, while the Quranic writing dimension achieved a mean score of 4.36. Furthermore, 89.28% of respondents categorized the method as positive or very positive. These findings indicate that the Abdul Latif Syakur Quranic learning method is perceived as effective in facilitating students' mastery of Quranic reading and writing skills. This study contributes to the growing discourse on indigenous Islamic pedagogy by providing empirical evidence of the continuing relevance of local scholarly educational heritage in contemporary Quranic education and its potential integration into community-based Islamic learning models.
