Abstract

The low cognitive learning outcomes of tenth-grade students at SMAS Pembangunan Bukittinggi, as indicated by the large number of students who had not yet achieved the Minimum Criteria for Learning Objective Achievement (KKTP), demonstrate the need to implement a learning strategy that promotes students’ active engagement. This study aimed to analyze the effect of implementing the Learning Starts with a Question strategy on students’ learning outcomes in the Informatics and Computer subject. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample was selected through purposive sampling and comprised an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected using an objective test administered as a pretest and posttest. The results showed that the mean learning outcome score of the experimental group was 82.24, which was higher than that of the control group at 72.80. The hypothesis test yielded a significance value of 0.033 (p < 0.05); therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. These findings indicate that implementing the Learning Starts with a Question strategy had a significant effect on improving students’ learning outcomes. Thus, this strategy can be used as an alternative instructional approach that promotes student engagement and improves learning achievement in the Informatics and Computer subject.

Abstract

The suboptimal critical thinking skills of students in Informatics learning indicate the need to implement a learning approach that promotes active cognitive engagement, one of which is deep learning based on the principles of mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the implementation of deep learning and students’ critical thinking skills in Informatics learning at SMPN 9 Pariaman. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. The study population comprised all eighth-grade students at SMPN 9 Pariaman, with a sample of 53 students. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive analysis, normality testing, linearity testing, and the Pearson product-moment correlation test. The results showed that the implementation of deep learning obtained a mean score of 94.75, whereas critical thinking skills obtained a mean score of 100.47. The correlation test yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.848 with a significance value of p < 0.001, indicating a positive, significant, and very strong relationship between the implementation of deep learning and students’ critical thinking skills. These findings confirm that the better the implementation of mindful, meaningful, and joyful principles in Informatics learning, the higher the students’ critical thinking skills. Therefore, deep learning can serve as a foundation for teachers and schools in designing more effective Informatics learning to develop students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The use of digital learning media in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instruction has received considerable attention in various studies, but research specifically analysing its relationship with PAI learning outcomes in schools implementing digital classes remains relatively limited. This study aimed to analyse the relationship between the use of digital learning media and PAI learning outcomes among students in the Grade VIII Digital Class at SMP Negeri 4 Payakumbuh. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants comprised 95 students selected using total sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire to measure the use of digital learning media and documentation of students’ PAI learning outcome scores. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, prerequisite analysis tests, Spearman’s rank correlation, and simple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The results showed that the use of digital learning media was classified as good but was not significantly related to PAI learning outcomes. This was indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.073 with a significance value of 0.481 (p > 0.05) and an R-squared value of 0.000, indicating that the use of digital learning media did not contribute to the variation in students’ learning outcomes. These findings confirm that a good level of digital media use is not directly associated with improved PAI learning outcomes because learning outcomes may be influenced by various other factors. This study enriches the literature on digital learning, particularly regarding the relationship between digital media use and PAI learning outcomes. The practical implication is that teachers need to integrate digital media with interactive and student-centred learning strategies, while future research should examine other factors related to PAI learning outcomes.

Abstract

Although the use of digital learning media in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has been widely studied, research specifically analyzing its relationship with PAI learning outcomes in schools that implement digital classes remains limited. The R² value of 0.000 also indicated that the use of digital learning media did not contribute to variations in students’ learning outcomes. These findings confirm that a high level of digital media use is not directly associated with improved PAI learning outcomes because learning outcomes may be influenced by various other factors. This study enriches research on digital learning in the context of Islamic Religious Education and implies the need for teachers to integrate digital media with interactive and student-centered learning strategies. Future research is recommended to examine other variables that may influence PAI learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze various efforts in developing the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education teachers who are able to overcome the challenges of education in the digital era through the activities of the Islamic Religious Education Working Group (KKG PAI). This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data were obtained from the results of observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed by reviewing, reducing data, and then interpreting data. The results of the study indicate that KKG (Teacher Working Group) is a forum formed to improve teacher competence and professionalism, both inside and outside the classroom. To find out the implementation of the program being implemented, of course, an evaluation program is needed with elements of context, input, process, and product. The components of the context evaluation are: 1) whether the KKG PAI program is a must for Islamic Religious Education teachers; 2) what is the purpose of the KKG PAI program; 3) who are the targets of the KKG PAI program. The elements of input evaluation are: (1) human resources; (2) supporting facilities and infrastructure; (3) funds; and (4) regulations. Basically, the process evaluation is to find out to what extent the plan has been implemented and what components need to be improved. Product evaluation is an assessment carried out in order to see the achievement or success of a program in achieving previously set goals. From the results of observations that have been made, the KKG program in an effort to improve teacher competence in facing the challenges of the digital era can be implemented in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the application of the sorogan method in the Qur'an learning process at the Al-Irfan Islamic Boarding School in Bukittinggi. As a traditional method that has long been a hallmark of Islamic boarding schools, sorogan is still practiced because it is considered capable of improving pronunciation accuracy, understanding tajwid, and building closeness between teachers and students. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and document review. While data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The research findings indicate that sorogan functions as an important mechanism in fostering students' personal reading skills, strengthening character formation, and creating a more humanistic learning atmosphere. Regular implementation, group division according to ability level, and individual reading evaluations contribute to improving student competency. However, the study also identified several obstacles, particularly related to the motivation and discipline of some students. Overall, the research results confirm that sorogan remains relevant in contemporary Islamic boarding school education and has the potential to be improved through strengthening motivation, more effective classroom management, and more targeted mentoring.
