Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore how the character of Panji is represented in the millennial era. The Panji stories are a treasured historical legacy that once flourished in the past, particularly during the Majapahit era, and spread to various regions in the archipelago and some Southeast Asian countries. Panji is closely associated with being a protagonist figure, which is why he is considered a role model for living a righteous life. In the realm of education, the Panji stories can be thoughtfully incorporated as teaching materials for students, particularly in character education. The character of Panji can serve as a model or avenger, akin to a Nusantara superhero. This research adopts a qualitative research method, and data is collected through secondary sources, such as literature, books, articles, documents, and websites. The findings of this research represent Panji as an avenger in the millennial era, combating the growing influence of Western culture that has seeped into the paradigm of the millennial generation in Indonesia. Moreover, it fosters a sense of patriotism by appreciating the rich cultural heritage of the nation.

Abstract

Alternative feed is important to consider so that feed production costs can be reduced and income can be increased. Mealworms are a source of animal protein with high nutritional value and a complete amino acid profile, making them an alternative feed source worth considering. However, the incorporation of mealworms into quail diets, particularly in Indonesia, has not been extensively studied, creating a gap that this research aims to address. The purpose of this research was to use mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) as an alternative feed to improve the productivity and egg quality of quail. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. In treatment A, 0% MF was added to the rations; in treatment B, 5% MF was added to the rations; in treatment C, 10% MF was added to the rations; in treatment D, 15% MF was added to the rations; and in treatment E, 20% MF was added to the rations. The parameters observed were the productivity of laying quail (feed consumption, egg weight, egg production, and feed conversion) and the quality of quail eggs (crude protein, crude fat, yolk color, and quail eggshell weight). The results revealed that the addition of mealworm flour to the laying quail rations significantly affected (P<0.05) the feed consumption, egg weight, egg production percentage, and feed conversion of laying quail but did not significantly affect (P>0.05) egg crude protein content, egg crude fat content, yolk color, or eggshell weight. In conclusion, the addition of up to 15% mealworm flour to the laying quail feed mixture did not have a negative effect on quail performance or egg quality, indicating its potential as a sustainable alternative protein source.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a risk factor for morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease. Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is the main target organ due to hypertension, which is a predictor of the development of cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure. Echocardiography is the gold standard examination for determining heart geometry, and concentric LVH is often found in hypertensive patients. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a widely available, low-cost, and rapid modality for diagnosing LVH in healthcare facilities. The Peguero–Lo Presti (PLP) criteria in ECG examination have better sensitivity and specificity compared to other criteria. Objectives: This study aims to determine the diagnostic value of PLP ECG to diagnose concentric LVH.Methods: This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach carried out at the inpatient installation of Dr. M. Djamil General Hospital Padang for 6 months, starting from April to September 2024. The study subjects who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were 90 samples selected by consecutive sampling. An ECG examination was conducted using PLP criteria and echocardiography with the M-mode method to assess left ventricle (LV) geometry. Data were analysed using a 2x2 table to obtain sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and diagnostic accuracy. Results: From 90 samples, LVH geometry was found concentric in 65.50%, eccentric 4.40%, concentric remodelling 11.10%, and normal 18.90%. In the diagnostic test, PLP criteria had 79.66% sensitivity, 90.32% specificity, 94.00% PPV, 70.00% NPV, and 83.33% accuracy to diagnose concentric LVH in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Peguero Lo-Presti criteria on ECG can be used for screening and early diagnosis of concentric LVH in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the potential of bio-oil from Moringa oleifera seeds through the analysis of physical and chemical characteristics resulting from the pyrolysis process. Raw materials in the form of Moringa oleifera seed powder were pyrolyzed at 400°C using a microwave reactor. To create oxygen free pyrolysis conditions, nitrogen gas was constantly flowed into the system at a rate of 0.15 NL/min. The process temperature was monitored using a K-type thermocouple, and the reaction was stopped when condensed vapor output was no longer observed. The pyrolysis products in the form of bio-oil and bio-char were then collected and weighed to determine the product fraction. Furthermore, the bio-oil was analyzed to determine its physical and chemical properties, including density, pH, and an indication of its constituent compound components. The results showed that pyrolysis under these conditions produced a dominant amount of bio-char (54.3%) and bio-oil of 24.7% of the total weight. The bio-oil obtained had a high density, in the range of 0.97-1.00 g/cm³, with a relatively acidic pH of 4.5-5.5. Although the bio-oil yield is not high, its complex chemical properties, particularly the content of phenolic compounds, nitriles, and amides, show great potential to be developed as a valuable bio-chemical base material such as antioxidants, biophenols, resins, and bioplastic raw materials. These findings strengthen the prospect of Moringa oleifera seeds as a strategic local biomass for sustainable bioindustry.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the potential of bio-char derived from Moringa oleifera seeds through an evaluation of its physical and chemical properties. Moringa oleifera seeds were processed into fine powder, dried, and then subjected to pyrolysis at 400°C using a microwave reactor. Nitrogen gas was introduced before and during the pyrolysis process to create a low-oxygen environment. The pyrolysis continued until no more condensable vapors were detected, indicating that the thermal decomposition process had reached completion. The resulting bio-char was collected and analyzed to determine its physical and chemical characteristics, including proximate analysis (moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, and fixed carbon), calorific value, and density. The results showed that the bio-char from Moringa oleifera seed powder had a very high fixed carbon content of 79.13% and low volatile matter. The calorific value reached 25.04 MJ/kg, which is comparable to that of low-rank coal. Additionally, the bio-char had a density of 0.905 g/cm³, which is relatively high compared to most biomass-derived bio-chars. These characteristics indicate that bio-char from Moringa oleifera seeds holds significant potential for use as a solid fuel in the form of briquettes or pellets, as a biomass energy source, and as a long-term carbon storage medium for climate change mitigation.

Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasingly reported in adolescents and is driven by modifiable lifestyle factors such as inadequate hydration, frequent consumption of processed foods, obesity, and poor sleep quality. Because early CKD is typically asymptomatic, routine laboratory screening is often impractical in school or community settings. Self-reported questionnaires can help estimate lifestyle-related risk but rely on subjective recall. Objective: To compare the effectiveness of a DL-based facial analysis model with self-reported questionnaire screening for early CKD risk in adolescents. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 100 adolescents aged 16–19 in Karawang, Indonesia. Participants completed validated questionnaires assessing hydration, dietary habits, and sleep quality using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Standardized facial photographs were analyzed using a convolutional neural network (CNN) trained to detect CKD-related facial markers. Agreement between methods was assessed using Cohen’s kappa, and diagnostic performance was evaluated using ROC analysis. Results: Questionnaire screening classified 88% of adolescents as low-risk, 10% moderate-risk, and 2% high-risk, while the AI model classified 95%, 4%, and 1%, respectively, demonstrating moderate agreement (κ = 0.61, p < 0.001). The AI model achieved 91.0% accuracy, 88.0% sensitivity, 92.0% specificity, and an AUC of 0.904. Overweight adolescents had higher odds of being at risk (OR = 2.35). Conclusion: Combining AI-based facial analysis with questionnaire assessment provides a rapid, scalable, and non-invasive strategy for early CKD risk screening in adolescents, particularly in resource-limited settings.
