Abstract

The partnership between schools and parents plays a significant role in creating a conducive learning environment, fostering an enjoyable atmosphere both at school and at home. This study investigates the impact of school-parent partnerships on enhancing student achievement, utilizing a qualitative case approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Two key findings about the school-parent partnership at SD Plus Muhammadiyah 1 Waru were identified. First, the school involves parents through various communication mechanisms: routine meetings, parenting sessions, home visits, parent associations, social media for information and communication, school committee engagement, violation control cards, daily monitoring books, and formal letters. Second, parents respond to school programs by integrating school and home learning activities, attending school events, providing necessary information during teacher visits, staying updated through social media, actively participating in communication groups, and monitoring student activities through the provided tools. The collaboration and synergy between school and home learning activities contribute significantly to fostering a positive and effective learning environment for students. This study will show other schools how important structured parent-school partnerships are, especially when combined with culturally relevant approaches. They will provide a replicable framework for improving student learning outcomes and professional school management.

Abstract

Public services are interactions between society and the government as public servants. This service activity involved the Pinrang Regency Investment and Integrated Service Agency (DPMPTS) and academics from the Mechanical Department, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University. Utilizing this disinfectant tool can help the DPMPTS service in terms of air sterilization and preventing the spread of Covid-19 in community service spaces. The problem that arises is the level of interaction between the community who needs services and DPMPTS employees as service providers who are quite vulnerable to the spread of viruses and bacteria. This can cause the spread of disease, so tools are needed that can reduce the impact of the spread of the disease. The use of Ultraviolet C (UVC) is a disinfectant tool that has been proven effective in killing microorganisms, one of which is the COVID-19 virus. The service method is carried out using an outreach mechanism at the DPMPTS agency which is attended by technical government agencies and several participating local communities. The process of implementing socialization uses a questionnaire mechanism consisting of pre-test and post-test. At the start of the socialization, the number of respondents who filled out the questionnaire was 18 people consisting of 8 government representatives and 10 community representatives or a total of 18 respondents. In the pre-test results, it was found that only 3 people understood the function of the mobile robot disinfectant system mechanism and 15 people did not understand. After the socialization was carried out, better results were obtained with 17 people who understood and 1 person who still did not understand the working system of the mobile disinfectant robot. Therefore, it is recommended to use mobile disinfectant robots in DPMPTS public service spaces to reduce the effects of spreading viruses and bacteria.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to assist the recovery of social activities and address the crisis of electricity and clean water following the flash floods in Pesisir Selatan Regency, particularly in Kampung Langgai and Barung-Barung Balantai Health Center, which were the most severely affected areas. The methods employed included conducting a needs assessment survey of the affected communities, procuring and installing a 5.5 kW generator set at Nurul Wahidah Mosque as a social center, distributing ten solar-powered lamps to residents’ homes, and rehabilitating the clean water system at the health center by replacing the water pump and installing new piping networks from the ring well and Pamsimas sources. Additionally, training was provided on the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment, along with socialization on the importance of clean water to prevent post-flood diseases. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in access to electricity and clean water in the affected areas. The mosque resumed its function as a center for social activities, homes and roads received adequate lighting, and health services at the health center became fully operational again. The conclusion of this activity is that appropriate technology-based interventions, such as the provision of generator sets, solar lamps, and water filtration system repairs, are effective in supporting post-disaster recovery and enhancing community resilience. The sustainability of the program can be strengthened through regular training and cross-sector collaboration to build resilient infrastructure in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the performance of the PNP Reservoir in managing water resources as well as reducing flood risk in the Batu Busuk Sub-watershed, which is located in the upstream part of the Kuranji watershed, Padang City. The uniqueness of this study lies in the comprehensive approach that combines IDF analysis with three methods (Talbot, Sherman, and Ishiguro), flood discharge estimation through the Rational and Nakayasu SUH methods, and modeling of reservoir inflows and outflows using the Muskingum flood routing method. Based on the results of the IDF analysis, the highest rain intensity during the two-hour duration was recorded at 27.22 mm/hour (Talbot), 24.67 mm/hour (Sherman), and 23.49 mm/hour (Ishiguro). Before the reservoir was constructed, the peak flood discharge reached 0.33 m³/sec at 0.35 hours. The simulation results showed that the reservoir was able to reduce the peak discharge by 0.57% and caused a delay in the peak flow of 0.6 minutes. This finding shows that the PNP reservoir contributes positively to flood control, although the efficiency of the reduction is still limited. Overall, the results of this study can serve as an important reference in the design of adaptive reservoirs in areas characterized by steep topography and high rainfall, and emphasize the role of reservoirs as part of sustainable flood mitigation infrastructure in tropical urban areas.

Abstract

Abstract; The global ecological crisis reveals the limitations of the modern paradigm that separates humans from nature and fosters an instrumental relationship with the environment. This study aims to examine Alfred North Whitehead’s thought comprehensively in order to uncover a relational ontological alternative as a critique of modern dualism. The research employs a library-based study using a philosophical analytical–conceptual approach through a critical reading of Whitehead’s process ontology as articulated across various primary works and relevant secondary literature. The findings indicate that understanding reality as a relational process situates humans and nature within an existential network of mutual formation, thereby dismantling the subject–object dichotomy and challenging instrumental rationality. This study concludes that Whitehead’s relational ontology provides a philosophical foundation for a co-existential and holistic ecological consciousness. Such relational awareness has practical implications for transforming human ways of thinking and acting toward nature, shifting from a logic of domination to ontological engagement, which is relevant to the development of environmental ethics, ecological policy, and sustainability practices. Keywords: Alfres Nort Whitehead; Ecological Consciousness; Human-Nature Relation; Process Philosiphy; Relational Ontology.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic religious education (PAI) in responding to the issues of multiculturalism and social justice in Indonesia. Using a literature review approach, this study analyzes the philosophical and theological foundations of PAI relevant to the discourse on multiculturalism and social justice, examines the practical integration of these values into the PAI curriculum, and identifies various challenges and opportunities in its implementation. The findings emphasize that PAI has a strong normative foundation based on universal values in Islamic teachings such as ta'aruf, tasamuh, musawah, and 'adalah. However, there remains a significant gap between normative ideals and the reality of PAI learning in the field, which tends to be doctrinal and less contextual. This study recommends a paradigm shift from an exclusive approach toward an inclusive and transformative one, accompanied by curriculum reform responsive to contemporary social issues and the enhancement of teachers' pedagogical competencies in multicultural literacy and social justice. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of a conceptual framework for PAI that is responsive to the dynamics of contemporary life while remaining grounded in Islamic teachings.
