Abstract

Business is an activity full of competition; having a competitive advantage is essential in achieving success and business survival. This research aims to determine the mediating influence of competitive advantage in product innovation on business performance. The research method uses quantitative exploratory. The population in this study is a regional souvenir and culinary centre with official stalls on the South Ring Road (JLS) Tulungagung - Trenggalek, totaling 236 stalls. Sampling in this study used simple random sampling with 147 respondents. Data analysis used Partial Least Square (PLS) to test direct and indirect effects. The results reveal that product innovation has a direct impact on business performance. Competitive advantage has a direct effect on business performance. Product innovation has a direct impact on competitive advantage. And the last, product innovation has an indirect effect on business performance through competitive advantage. The limitations of this research are the time, costs, and energy expended by researchers due to the long distance between the respondents’ locations. This research suggests that traders in the southern route should innovate their products to sustain their businesses and have a competitive advantage as differentiators from similar businesses in that area

Abstract

Blitar City is the largest producer of jimbe drums in East Java, and even in Indonesia. The market segment for jimbe drum products is China and Canada. However, not all jimbe drum craftsmen in Blitar City are able to access the export market. This study aims to (a) Identify the characteristics of SMEs in the Jimbe drum industry in Blitar City (b) Describe the obstacles faced by jimbe drum craftsmen to move up to the export market (c) Develop strategies to encourage SMEs in the jimbe drum industry in Blitar City to move up in a sustainable manner. The type of research is a qualitative case study. The subjects of the study were jimbe drum craftsmen in Sentul Village, Blitar City, Head of the Cooperatives and MSMEs Office of Blitar City, Head of the Trade and Industry Office, Head of Sentul Village, Blitar City. Data collection was carried out by direct interviews with research subjects, observation and documentation. Triangulation of methods and data sources was carried out to obtain accurate data. Data analysis using the Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2024) formula and SWOT analysis. The results of the study showed that there are 2 types of Jimbe drums MSMEs in Sentul village, namely craftsmen and collectors, who do not yet have an association/ cooperative to accommodate the aspirations of craftsmen. The obstacles faced revolve around the difficulty of accessing capital and obtaining raw materials. Based on the SWOT analysis, the appropriate strategy for sustainable upgrading is to first improve the organization, help access capital and increase international marketing reach through partnerships.

Abstract

The low export performance of SMEs in Indonesia is a significant problem in supporting national economic growth because SMEs are often less able to take advantage of international market opportunities compared to large companies. One of the critical determinants of SME exports is networking and partnership relationships. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach to analyze the role of networking and partnerships in supporting SME exporters entering the international market. The study was conducted through a survey of 67 SME exporters in East Java who are members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The results of the study indicate that SME exporters face various obstacles in marketing, human resources, finance, access to information, and the business environment. However, networking and partnerships have been proven to support their export activities. Strategic partners who play a role include government agencies, business partners, business associations, chambers of commerce, state-owned and private companies, universities, and support from family. This support includes information on international market data, business opportunities, potential analysis, access to capital, promotion, and competitive strategies in the global market. These findings indicate that SMEs that build good networks and partnerships can overcome various obstacles and challenges and gain significant benefits from entering the international market.

Abstract

This research examines the importance of exploring foreign market entry strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by a case study of Creative Kokedama, an SME that developed product innovations from ordinary flowering plants into ornamental plant kokedama and successfully penetrated the Japanese market, the country origin of kokedama. The research findings indicate that the main motivation for Creative Kokedama to expand into the international market is intrinsic motivation. The owner reasoned that kokedama plant crafts originated from Japan, so she wanted to bring kokedama back to Japan. She has his own satisfaction when she is able to bring kokedama to the Japanese market. That motivation can related to psychological factors, such as the desire for self-development and global recognition, as well as ethnocentrism, which is pride in local cultural values reflected in the kokedama products. The entry mode chosen is direct exporting, which does not go through an intermediary, but directly to foreign buyer. Japan was chosen as the export destination country because Japan is the origin country of kokedama. Although previously it had also exported to Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore. Selection of export destination country can be related to pull factor theory in internationalization, Japan as the country of origin for kokedama, may have a high appreciation for products with unique approaches or modifications. This research contributes to the literature on SME internationalization strategies by offering insights into the importance of the combination of product innovation and intrinsic motivation especially psychological factors in achieving export success. Moreover, these findings can also serve as practical guidance for other SMEs looking to enter the global market through innovation and locally value-based strategies.

Abstract

Marketing is an activity where business actors offer their products to consumers either directly or indirectly to be able to receive these products with all their ideas and ideas so that these products can be of interest to customers. The study was conducted to determine the Marketing Strategy of Natural Soap (Hand Made Industry) in Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Tambora, Dompu Exotic Regency. The research method is carried out with a qualitative approach, namely a case study approach using a semi-structured interview technique for MSME owners and participants in the object with a research duration of 4 months from July to November 2021. The results of the study state that marketing is an important element that must be considered in order to match expectations, namely getting expected customer loyalty. Various types of MSMEs with various kinds of products produced and offered are almost the same because MSME products are easy to make with materials that are not so expensive so that a marketing strategy is needed to be able to increase the competitiveness of the products produced by MSMEs. In an effort to develop a marketing strategy, it is very necessary to have complete information related to the market.

Abstract

Other causes of neglect of recording/financial reports from MSMEs are the lack of understanding and expertise in recording, the education level of business managers who still have not achieved the expertise/application technology in making SAK ATAP financial report documents. This study aims to determine whether the level of education, information technology and age of business affect SAK ETAP compliance on MSMEs in Bada Village. The type of research used in this research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The population in this study was 66 and the sample obtained was 40 MSME actors. The data collection technique used in this research is a questionnaire and analysis tool, namely multiple regression using the SPSS 21.0 application. The results showed that both simultaneously indicated that the level of information technology education and business age had a positive and significant effect on SAK ETAP compliance. Partially the level of education has a significant effect on SAK ETAP compliance where the value of sig. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of leadership style, work environment and work facilities on employee job satisfaction at Omah Jenang MSMEs, located in Blitar Regency. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and analysis of related documents. The research results show that participative and transformational leadership styles contribute positively to employee motivation and job satisfaction. A harmonious work environment and a culture of mutual cooperation creates a comfortable working atmosphere, even though there are challenges such as hot temperatures in the production area. The available work facilities are sufficient to support the production process, but still require improvement, especially in the aspects of ventilation and personal protective equipment. This research concludes that the synergy between leadership style, work environment and work facilities has a significant influence on employee job satisfaction. These findings provide relevant insights for MSMEs to improve human resource management to achieve business sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of community development, the organization of original events, convenience, and connectivity on digital branding for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Blitar, with an emphasis on the moderating role of digital literacy. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach with a Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results show that community development and the organization of original events have a significant positive impact on digital branding, while convenience also plays a role in enhancing the effectiveness of digital branding. On the other hand, connectivity does not significantly influence digital branding. Digital literacy is proven to act as a moderator that strengthens the relationships between community development, event organization, and convenience with digital branding, highlighting the importance of digital skills in achieving successful branding. This study suggests that MSMEs in Blitar should pay greater attention to community development, creative events, and ease of digital services. Additionally, improving digital literacy among MSME owners and staff is crucial to optimize their digital branding efforts.

Abstract

The use of social media has change companies began to build communications with customers through social media. Lion Air is one of the companies who used social media to introducing the products. This study focused to investigate the effect of social media sales promotion content (SMSPC) and corporate reputation (CR) on behavioral intention (BIY) through brand image (BI). There are 7 hypotheses on this research and analysis using Partial Least Square (PLS). The samples for this research were respondents who followed Instagram @lionairgroup and has used Lion Air Airlines service using non-probability sampling technique. The result of this research shows that brand image as a mediation can decrease the value of consumers behavioral intention on Lion Air customers. The results of this investigation offer both theoretical insights and empirical evidence that can be beneficial for marketing teams looking to enhance their communication strategies with customers through social media platforms.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of digital marketing strategies at PT. Airlangga Rent Car Go/Silver Tour & Travel in Malang City focuses on three main dimensions: traffic, conversion, and engagement. The research employs a qualitative case study approach involving observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that using social media such as Instagram, website, and WhatsApp effectively increases customer interaction and engagement. SWOT analysis identifies the company's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, providing a basis for optimal marketing strategies. This research concludes that PT. Airlangga Rent Car Go/Silver Tour & Travel needs to increase the amount of content and marketing platforms to achieve more significant growth through horizontal integration
