Abstract

Introduction : Many cytokines and inflammatory mediators play a role in the progression of COVID-19 disease, including the interleukins, interferons, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α.) groups. An intervention is needed to reduce the levels of this cytokine. Thiamine has the potential to reduce levels of proinflammatory cytokines, especially TNF-α. Objective: To determine the effect of intravenous thiamine administration on TNF-α levels in COVID-19 patients in the isolation room of RSUP H Adam Malik. Methods: This study used an analytical design of one group pre test - post test in the isolation room of Haji Adam Malik General Hospital Medan with a sample size of 16 people. Samples were given thiamine IV 200 mg/12 hours and then the levels of TNF-α were measured by ELISA method. Results: Characteristics of the sample obtained were equal in number of males and females (1:1), the mean age was 43 ±14.78 years, the mean BMI was 23.31 ± 6.55, the mean systolic was 122.50 ± 5.77 mmHg and diastolic 88.88 ± 6.55 mmHg. The majority of the sample (50%) had no comorbidities. Before administration of thiamine, the median TNF-α was 186.5 pg/mL with a minimum and maximum value (171-420 pg/mL) and after administration of thiamine, the median TNF-α was 180.50 pg/mL with a minimum and maximum value (122-200 pg/mL) obtained a p value of 0.001 < 0.05 (there is a significant effect). Conclusion: In this study, the mean TNF-α level was lower when given intravenous thiamine. This decrease in TNF-α levels was also found to be significant after intravenous thiamine administration.

Abstract

Evaluation of learning is crucial in education to measure student achievement and provide feedback to students and educators. Evaluation must adhere to the principles of comprehensiveness, continuity, and objectivity. One method to assess learning quality is through the end-of-semester examination (PAS). This research highlights the importance of Moderate Order Thinking Skills (MOTS) in developing students' cognitive abilities, particularly in Arabic language learning. MOTS helps students understand and apply lesson content. This study analyzes Arabic PAS questions for eighth-grade students at MTs Ittihad Samarinda based on MOTS. The research aims to evaluate PAS question quality and provide a basis for future improvements, enhancing the quality of Arabic learning. A descriptive qualitative approach is used to understand phenomena deeply. The content analysis method is applied to relevant documents and records. The primary data source is Arabic PAS questions for the 2023/2024 academic year at MTs Ittihad Samarinda, collected through documentation and interviews. Analysis of 40 PAS questions shows 32.5% are LOTS, 57.5% are MOTS, and 10% are HOTS, focusing on Arabic syntax and vocabulary. This suggests PAS questions are geared towards understanding and application (MOTS) rather than analysis and evaluation (HOTS). Future PAS question development should balance LOTS and MOTS for junior high school level to improve assessment quality.

Abstract

Introduction: Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction is common in patients with hypertension. Inadequate management can cause complications such as hypertensive heart disease. Electrocardiography as a tool that is easy to find in health services is known to be able to detect left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between P wave peak time in leads II and V1 by electrocardiography with left ventricular diastolic function. Method: This study was a cross-sectional study that was conducted by collecting 111 patients with a history of hypertension at RSUP HAM from October 2021 to November 2022. The P wave peak time was measured in leads II and V1 on the ECG. Diastolic function was assessed using echocardiography. A bivariate test was performed to assess the correlation between the two variables. Furthermore, ROC analysis was performed to assess the P wave peak time as a predictor of left ventricular diastolic function. Results: : Total subjects were 111 hypertensive patients consisting of 49 (31.4%) hypertensive patients with normal diastolic function and 62 (68.6%) hypertensive patients with diastolic dysfunction. In bivariate analysis, a significant difference was found between the P wave peak time in lead II of hypertensive patients with normal diastolic function and hypertensive patients with diastolic dysfunction (65.47± 2.5 vs 68.9 ± 2.7;p = 0.001). Based on the ROC analysis, it was found that the P wave peak time could predict left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in hypertensive patients with AUC = 0.81 in lead II. Conclusion: The P wave peak time in lead II can be a predictor of diastolic dysfunction in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of the silent way with spelling games can improve students’ vocabulary in the eighth grade of SMPN 8 Palu or not. The knowledge of the English language in the eighth grade of SMP 8 Palu is still low, especially in vocabulary. This research aims to obtain empirical evidence about the effect of using the silent way method with spelling games. The population were all eighth-grade students of SMP 8 Palu. The sample were 44 students. The research employs a quasi-experimental design. In the experimental class, the researcher used the silent way method with a spelling game, and in the control class, the researcher used the conventional method strategy (memorizing). The researcher used an instrument in the form of multiple choice and matching tests. The instrument was given in pre-test and post-test. The finding indicated that there was a different score of the final significant mean between the classes, the serve of the experimental class was 73,40 while the final mean of the control class was 63,6. The hypothesis test shows that significant level of 5 % t-test 4,255 > t-table 1,682 so, it can be stated that H0 (Null hypothesis) was rejected and Ha (Alternative hypothesis) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the Silent Way method with the Spelling Game was effective in improving students’ vocabulary in the eighth grade at SMP 8 Palu in the academic year 2021/2022.

Abstract

This study aims to find the effectiveness the use of comic strips in class VIII SMPN 13 Palu. Pre-experimental design that required pre-test and post-test groups, used in this research. The population in this study were 191 eighth-grade students of SMPN 13 Palu. The sample of this study was 15 students. selected using  quota sampling technique. The data had been collected were analyzed quantitavely. The results of data analysis showed that the average score of students in the pre-test (31.67), and the post-test scores of students increased after being given treatment used comic strip media with an average value 79.67. Ttable significance level for alpha ɑ 0.05 or 5% degrees of freedom (df 28 = 1.701). The Tobserve value higher than Ttable, namely 10.921 > 1.701, then the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be proven that there is a significant improvment between the results of used comic strips in taught reading comprehension of narrative texts to second-grade students of SMPN 13 Palu. The implication of this research was the use of comic strips as a media can improve students' reading comprehension at SMPN 13 Palu. It is hoped that prospective educators can present teaching materials well and interestingly so that they are easy to understand, joyful, and can make a comfortable learnned atmosphere, so that the class becomes more conductive.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the Direct Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) technique in improving the ability of ninth-grade students at MTs Alkhairaat Alindau to understand and comprehend narrative texts. The main study inquiry investigates the efficacy of the DRTA technique in enhancing students' reading comprehension abilities. The research utilizes a quantitative methodology and follows a pre-experimental design, specifically employing a one-group pretest-posttest framework. The study included a total of 27 ninth-grade students, who serve as both the population and sample. The data gathering process involved administering pretests and posttests, while the analysis utilized descriptive statistics, T-tests, and hypothesis testing. The results suggest that the DRTA technique has a substantial positive impact on pupils' reading comprehension. The initial average score was 46.29, and the statistical analysis showed that the calculated t-value (6.998) was higher than the critical t-value (1.708), resulting in the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1). These findings demonstrate that implementing the Directed Reading-Thinking Activity (DRTA) technique effectively enhances the narrative text reading comprehension of ninth-grade students at MTs Alkhairaat Alindau.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) disclosure, Economic disclosure, and Management Approach on Dividend Policy proxied by Dividend Payout Ratio and Dividend Yield. The study incorporates five control variables: company size, age, leverage, profitability, and liquidity. The data used in this research are secondary data obtained from the financial and sustainability reports of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the IDX ESG Leaders Index for the period 2020-2022. The results indicate that the disclosure of environmental, governance, and management information does not have a significant influence on dividend policy, both in terms of Dividend Payout Ratio and Dividend Yield measurements. This finding suggests that environmental, governance, and management disclosures cannot be used as a basis for decision-making for stakeholders. Social disclosure has no significant influence on Dividend Payout Ratio, but it has a significant negative impact on Dividend Yield, indicating that social disclosure affects dividend policy negatively. On the other hand, economic disclosure shows a significant influence on dividend policy, both in terms of Dividend Payout Ratio and Dividend Yield measurements.

Abstract

Jurnal ini membahas mengenai pertimbangan hukum pada perkawinan beda agama dalam perspektif KHI. Menurut KHI, perkawinan adalah sebuah persatuan resmi yang bertujuan untuk membentuk keluarga yang bahagia dan sejahtera, di mana suami dan istri bertanggung jawab atas amanah yang diberikan. Adapaun pengertian perkawinan menurut Pasal 1 Undang-Undang Nomor 1 tahun 1974 tentang Perkawinan yaitu: "Perkawinan adalah ikatan lahir batin antara seorang pria dan seorang wanita sebagai suami istri dengan tujuan membentuk keluarga (rumah tangga) yang bahagia dan kekal berdasarkan Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa.”. Pernikahan antara seorang pria dan wanita yagn memiliki kepercayaan atau agama yang berbeda namun tetap menikah dan mempertahankan masing-masing kepercayaan atau agama mereka juga disebut sebagai perkawinan beda agama. KHI merupakan kodifikasi hukum Islam yang esksistensinya berdasarkan Instruksi Presiden No.1 Tahun 1991. Titik focus pembahasannya yakni bagaimana Kompilasi Hukum Islam (KHI) diterapkan dalam perkawinan antara agama yang berbeda, serta tantangan hukum dan social yang harus dihadapi oleh pasangan yang berbeda agama di Indonesia selama pernikahan dan setelahnya. Data yang tersedia untuk menjawab masalah ini adalah data normative-yuridis dari undang-undang, buku, atau jurnal yang berlaku.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang Aktualisasi diri komunitas punk di kota Palembang dalam perpektif komunikasi artifaktual. Komunitas Punk merupakan salah satu fenomena sosial yang ada di masyarakat. Peneliti memilih punk sebagai objek penelitian, karena punk selalu mendapat penilaian negatif dari masyarakat. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana upaya komunitas punk dalam mengaktualisasikan dirinya dan dalam perspektif komunikasi artifaktual yaitu komunikasi yang melalui cara berpakaian terhadap komunitas punk. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktualisasi diri komunitas punk di kota Palembang dalam perspektif komunikasi artifaktual. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Sumber data yang digunakan dan terkandung dalam skripsi ini ada dua, yaitu data primer dan data sekunder yang mencakup pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi dengan metode penelitian analisis isi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah diperoleh maka komunitas punk dalam mencapai aktualisasi diri mereka dalam perspektif komunikasi artifaktual adalah dengan merubah cara berpakaian mereka dengan menggunakan sepatu boots, rambut mohawks, memakai berbagai aksesoris, tindik (pierching) di tubuh mereka, dan menggunakan tattoo. Mereka menganggap cara berpakaian dan tattoo mereka adalah sebuah seni.

Abstract

HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill) is necessary for living in the 21st century. In this century, routine work will be charged to robots, while humans will be charged with creative work. In order to avoid being eroded by the times, HOTS needs to be developed even since elementary school. Therefore, there is a need for methods, strategies, or learning models that can improve student HOTS. Researchers conducted a study to test the effectiveness of implementing the RADEC learning model in improving students' HOTS in learning Insya’; the material translates the text, and how students respond to the learning model. The research method used is quasi-experimental, with the research design of a nonequivalent Control Group. The results showed that it took 135 minutes to implement the RADEC learning model in learning Insya’ material translating text in PP Darussalam. The improvement in higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) after receiving treatment is reported to be 49%, which is classified as a sufficient category. Nevertheless, the RADEC learning model is still considered more effective in enhancing HOTS than the classical model, and the participants' response to this model is highly positive, reaching 81%. Further research on the RADEC learning model, using an equivalent comparative model, is needed to strengthen its effectiveness in enhancing HOTS. Keywords: HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill), Translating Text, RADEC Learning Model, Insya’ Learning.   Abstrak HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill) merupakan keterampilan yang diperlukan untuk hidup di abad 21. Pada abad ini, pekerjaan rutinitas akan dibebankan kepada robot, sedangkan manusia akan dibebankan pekerjaan kreatif. Agar tidak tergerus oleh zaman, HOTS perlu dikembangkan bahkan sejak duduk di bangku sekolah dasar. Karena itu, perlu adanya metode, strategi, atau model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan HOTS peserta didik. Peneliti melakukan sebuah penelitian untuk menguji efektivitas implementasi model pembelajaran RADEC dalam meningkatkan HOTS peserta didik pada pembelajaran Insya’ materi menerjemahkan teks serta bagaimana respon peserta didik terhadap model pembelajaran tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian The Nonequivalent Control Group. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diperlukan waktu 135 menit untuk mengimplementasikan model pembelajaran RADEC pada pembelajaran Insya’ materi menerjemahkan teks di PP Darussalam Kersamanah Garut. Kemudian peningkatan HOTS peserta didik setelah diberikan treatment adalah sebesar 49% yang termasuk kategori cukup. Namun demikian, model pembelajaran RADEC tetap dipandang lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan HOTS dibanding model klasik dan respon peserta didik terhadap model ini sangat positif, yaitu sebesar 81%. Perlu dilakukan penelitian lanjutan tentang model pembelajaran RADEC dengan model pembanding yang ekuivalen untuk lebih memperkuat bukti efektivitas model pembelajaran RADEC dalam meningkatkan HOTS.
