Abstract

The loop heat pipe (LHP) is considered for passive cooling systems in nuclear installations. A combined approach of simulation and experimentation is essential for achieving comprehensive knowledge of the LHP. Research on the LHP using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is necessary to understand phenomena that are challenging to ascertain experimentally. This study investigates the temperature distribution and flow characterization in a new LHP model. The method used in this research is simulation using CFD Ansys fluent software. In the simulation, the LHP has an inner diameter of 0.1016 m. This LHP features a wick made from a collection of capillary pipes without a compensation chamber. Demineralized water is used as the working fluid with a filling ratio of 100% of evaporator volume. The hot water temperature in the evaporator section is set at 70°C, 80°C, and 90°C. The temperature on the outer surface of the condenser pipe is determined using experimental temperature inputs. An inclination angle of 5° and an initial pressure of 12,100 Pa was applied to LHP. The CFD simulation results show that the temperature distribution profile under steady-state conditions in the  loop heat pipe appears almost uniform. The temperature difference between the evaporator and condenser remains consistent. The flow of working fluid in the LHP is driven by buoyancy forces and fluid flow, allowing the working fluid in the LHP to flow in two phases from the evaporator to the condenser and then condensate from the condenser back to the evaporator. In conclusion, the temperature distribution and flow patterns in the LHP are consistent with common phenomena observed in heat pipes. This modeling can be used to determine the profiles of temperature distribution and flow in LHP of the same dimensions under various thermal conditions.

Abstract

The severe accident at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan in 2011 highlighted the critical need for a passive cooling system to dissipate residual decay heat following the failure of active cooling systems in the nuclear facility. The loop heat pipe (LHP) is a promising technology for such applications. The objective of this research is to understand the natural circulation stability phenomena of new LHP model under varying conditions of filling ratio and heat load. The experimental methodology employed a laboratory-scale LHP model made of copper with an inner diameter of 0.104 m. The experiments were designed with filling ratios of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, and hot water temperature as the evaporator heat source with variations of 60°C, 70°C, 80°C, and 90°C. The initial operating pressure was 10665.6 Pa, with a 5˚ inclination angle, demineralized water as the working fluid, and cooled by air at a velocity of 2.5 m/s. The results show that the natural circulation within the LHP occurs in two phases and maintained stability, with optimal performance observed at an 80% filling ratio and 90°C. The conclusion of this research indicates that natural circulation stability in the LHP operates well and occurs in two phases, proving that natural circulation in the LHP is effective in heat dissipation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of limited liability companies (LLCs) following the enactment of Law Number 6 of 2023, which ratifies Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 on Job Creation, and to explore the concept of The Private Individual Limited Company in Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative methodology, using a normative legal approach. The findings indicate that the Job Creation Law introduced a new legal entity, The Private Individual Limited Company, and altered the conventional paradigm of LLCs. Previously, LLCs were understood as capital partnerships requiring at least two founders, formed through an agreement. However, under the new law, LLCs can now be established by a single individual, provided the company qualifies as a micro, small, or medium enterprise (MSME). The concept of The Private Individual Limited Company allows a single person to establish an LLC, expanding the traditional understanding of LLCs as partnerships formed through agreements. However, this concept of single-person LLCs is not entirely new in Indonesia. Before the Job Creation Law, the Company Law (PT Law) already permitted such exceptions, allowing LLCs to be established by one person if the company’s shares were wholly owned by the state, state-owned enterprises, or regional government-owned enterprises.

Abstract

Economy and environment are variables contained in the principles of sustainable development which underlie legal regulations related to the environment in various countries in the world. Nevertheless, there is still environmental pollution and damage that occurs, such as air pollution caused by industrial activities from fertilizer factories that produce ammonia-based fertilizer which pollutes the air in residential areas around the factory, which shows an imbalance between the economy and the environment. On the one hand, this economic activity is an effort aimed at creating community welfare, but on the other hand, this activity causes disruption to the community in obtaining a good living environment. The results of this research show that ammonia gas is a compound produced from the fertilizer industry process which is toxic and pollutes the environment. Ammonia is a poisonous gas, colorless and has a distinctive odor which can cause problems with human health and even death. However, the ammonia gas that spreads to residential areas around the factory is caused by wind blowing towards the settlement and this is not dangerous, because the wind blows the levels of ammonia gas to decrease. However, the presence of an ammonia-based fertilizer factory does not necessarily mean that society is free from the threat of this gas, because there have been several incidents of ammonia gas leaks in various parts of the world which have caused material losses and claimed many lives.

Abstract

Semakin besar rugi-rugi daya, karakteristik sensor semakin baik.

Abstract

The Maurek Bawang community in Nagari Aie Winter is in a peripheral position and has limited access to resources, opportunities and opportunities to improve their standard of living. This causes people to be trapped in a cycle of poverty. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research method. The results found that the solution to overcome the marginalization that occurred was that the local government launched a comprehensive community empowerment program. This empowerment program covers various aspects, such as increasing agricultural productivity, opening market access, developing capacity and skills, strengthening local institutions, as well as partnerships with related institutions. Even though this program has shown positive results, such as increasing productivity and income, there are still challenges that must be faced, such as limited natural resources, inadequate infrastructure, limited access to capital and technology, as well as climate change and natural disasters. To overcome these challenges, close cooperation and collaboration is needed between the government, related institutions and society itself.

Abstract

The article focuses on identification of students’ performance to write paragraphs and the topics needed by students to be developed post global English textbooks exposure. This study aimed to investigate description of current students’ performance to write paragraphs after studying a paragraph writing using Global English Textbooks and to find out the topics needed by students to be developed as teaching English textbook materials for Paragraph Writing Course. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of students' paragraph writing performance with qualitative interpretation into their perceptions to the use of global English textbooks as writing paragraph teaching materials. The total samples were 44 students of English Study Program, Faculty of Letters, Universitas Muslim Indonesia. To obtain information from the informants, the researchers employed questionnaires of Paragraph Writing distributed to the students through the Learning Management System (LMS) Google form.  The results showed that students exhibited a wide range of proficiency levels in paragraph writing, from advanced to fundamental deficiencies, necessitating targeted support across all skill levels. Moreover, a significant proportion of students lacked confidence in their writing abilities, emphasizing the importance of tailored instruction to address uncertainties effectively. Challenges with global English textbooks, including language complexity and cultural references, exacerbated these issues. Despite the inherent benefits of paragraph writing, such as language development and critical thinking skills, some students questioned its relevance in non-native English education settings. Additionally, doubts about fundamental language aspects like vocabulary and grammar underscored the need for focused instruction in these areas. Overall, addressing these challenges required comprehensive supports and resources to enhance students' paragraph writing skills and confidence levels effectively. Meanwhile, the exploration of sixty topics provided valuable insights into students' interests and knowledge. Among them, sixteen topics emerged as notably popular, indicating a strong resonance with students. These topics ranged from personal narratives to societal issues, reflecting students' diverse values and concerns. Furthermore, themes related to self-improvement and academic success garnered considerable interest, underscoring students' aspirations for growth. Even less chosen topics still demonstrated students' engagement with various aspects of interpersonal relationships and cultural identity. Moreover, the inclusion of less common topics reflected students' recognition of broader educational and patriotic ideals, albeit with less enthusiasm.
