Abstract

This study aims to (1) test the effectiveness of the Modeling of the Kancing Gemerincing Learning technique with ethnomathematics nuances in improving students’ problem solving abilities; and (2) finding students’ problem solving ability models in terms of the cognitive mode that is taught with the cooperative learning simulation of the ethnomathematics Kancing Gemerincing technique. The method used is a combination method with a sequential explanatory research design. The study population was students of class VIII 1st Public Middle School of Gemawang, Temanggung. The selected classes chosen by using cluster random sampling method are, class VIIID as the experimental class and VIIIA as the control class. The technique used in quantitative data collection is by testing the problem solving skills and qualitative data collection is obtained by doing documentations, questionnaires, and interviews. Testing data used are completeness test, t test, and paired t test. The results showed that the cooperative learning of the Kancing Gemerincing technique with ethno-mathematics nuances was effective in improving students’ mathematical problem solving abilities. The problem solving ability of independent field students is able to build new knowledge with other fields, be able to apply different strategies in solving problems, and be able to reflect mathematical problem solving processes. Whereas, the problem solving ability of field dependent students is able to build new knowledge with other fields, but has yet been able to apply different strategies in solving problems and reflecting mathematical problem solving processes.

Abstract

This research aims to describe mathematics representation ability of students seen from three categories of adversity quotient in Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, and Intellectual (SAVI) of eighth graders. This sequential explanatory typed mixed metod selected its subjects based on three categories of adversity quotient: quitter, camper, and climber. Technique of collecting data used mathematics representation ability test, adversity response profile questionnaire, and interview. The findings showed that the students taught by SAVI achieved actual minimum passing grade with descriptions of representation mathematics skill on visual representation, mathematical expression representation, and written text representation seen from quitter, camper, and climber during SAVI learning, resulted to various results for each category of AQ.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical creative thinking ability in terms of students learning independence in learning Creative Problem Solving (CPS) assisted by mobile learning. The design of this study is squential explanatory. The population in this study was grade VIII of SMP Negeri 6 Salatiga consisting of eight classes. Determination of the subject grouped based on the learning independence of students with high, medium, and low categories using purposive. The results of the study show that Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning assisted by mobile learning with certain quality because at the planning stage all devices are used valid, at the stage of implementing Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning assisted by mobile learning in minimal good criteria, and at the assessment stage effective of Creative Problem Solving (CPS) assisted by mobile learning. Description of mathematical creative thinking ability in terms of learning independence of students varies. This is indicated by the following results; from 10 students with high learning independence obtained 2 people with mathematical creative thinking ability in the high category and 8 in the medium category. From 15 students with moderate learning independence, the results are obtained 1 person creative mathematical thinking ability in the high category and 13 people in the medium category and 1 person in the low category. The result of the research show that from 3 students with low learning independence, all are having low mathematical creative thinking skill.

Abstract

Photochemical model for ozone surface simulation. Mathematical model is needed to study the highly reactive trace species as their data are sparse and difficult to measure such as as nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), and carbon oxide (CO). The main principles applied in the integration of the chemical part are based on a mass balance of species by considering that both chemical and physics processes are solvable with Euler number technique and the assumption of "quasi steady state approximation (QSSA). The model requires half-hourly average input data in (μg/m3) of NO, NO2, CO and also T (surface air temperature) in (0C), for the simulation of O3 concentration. Data were obtained from Surabaya and Bandung. Evaluation Model was conducted by comparing result of simulation with result of surface ozone measurement. The result obtained showed deviation around 16-38 %. To achieve good results, it was required to use accurate input data with high resolution, especially for NO and NO2 which have very high ozone forming potential.   Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia:  Suatu model matematika diperlukan untuk mempelajari reativitas yang tinggi dari spesies gas telusur yang datanya jarang dan sulit diukur, seperti NO (nitrogen monoksida), NO2 (nitrogen dioksida), O3 (ozon) dan CO (karbonmonoksida). Dasar utama yang digunakan dalam pengintegrasian bagian kimia didasarkan pada keseimbangan massa zat dengan mempertimbangkan proses kimia dan fisika yang dapat dipecahkan dengan teknik bilangan Euler, dengan asumsi ”quasi steady state approximation (QSSA)”. Model memerlukan input data rata–rata per setengah jam dalam (μg/m3) dari NO (nitrogen monoksida), NO2 (nitrogen dioksida), dan CO (karbonmonoksida), serta T (temperatur udara permukaan) dalam (0C), untuk simulasi konsentrasi O3. Data diperoleh dari Surabaya dan Bandung. Evaluasi model dilakukan dengan membandingkan hasil simulasi dengan hasil pengukuran O3 (ozon) permukaan in situ. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan penyimpangan sekitar 16 - 38 %. Untuk memperoleh hasil yang lebih baik adalah perlu menggunakan input data yang akurat dengan resolusi tinggi, terutama NO dan NO2 yang mempunyai potensi pembentukan ozon yang sangat tinggi

Abstract

Nowdays, the people of Indonesia face some crisis as a result of modernization and globalization.. One most alarming crisis is the weak character that caused demoralization of the social life of the Indonesian nation. This nation will be able to take advantage of modernization and globalization for the progress and superiority, when she has strong character and resilient. Character formation can be done through education from school, community, and family. Character education materials can be sourced from religion, five principles of Pancasila, and local wisdom. One local wisdom has come from the philosophy of Sosrokartono, laden content of values forming the character of Indonesian nation. There are seven values forming the character, as part of the eighteen values formulated by the Ministry of National Education, which can be taken from the philosophy of Sosrokartono. These seven values to forming character that can be taught and disseminated to the public include religious values, honesty, friendly and communicative, love of peace, social care, responsibility, and humanity.

Abstract

Pancasila as ideology contains many teachings about how human should relate to the others, nature and God in the life of society and the state. Pancasila’s teachings believed truth and goodness by Indonesian peoples since been justified through a variety of scientific-philosophical studies. This is the meaning of Pancasila as a orthodoxy. On the other hand, the process of modernization spur the development of science and technology and phenomenon of globalization so that dynamics and changes in society take place quickly. In the context of practical guideline, the implementation of Pancasila should adapt to the development of national and international community. The breakdown of Pancasila’s values should be reconstructed continuously order to always stay relevant as problem solver and able to keep up with the the times. Revitalization and reinterpretation of Pancasila as a ideology should always be done in order to not become obsolete so abandoned by its adherents.

Abstract

Sosrokartono is a spectacular philosopher. He gave moral teachings as well as practicing the teachings consistently and consequently in his daily lives. Most of its moral teachings are deontological. Sosrokartono teaches that man in his life should fulfill its obligations. The obligation of human life is to love and devote ourselves to God, Al Khalik. The manifestation of obligation is to do something like help to fellow human being who need outright, with no strings attached (“leladi mring sesami”). Central of Sosrokartono’s moral teachings is formulated in “Ilmu Kantong Bolong”. Sosrokartono’s moral teachings are very relevant to address problems of demoralization that hit Indonesian society and the nation at this time, as the excesses of swift currents of globalization. Sosrokartono’s moral teachings, which emphasize concern for the fate of others, can eliminate attitudes that materialistic, invividualistic, secularistic, and hedonistic which is endemic.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper is study in Ethics. This study compared two moral teaching in Sosokartono’s “Ilmu Kantong Bolong” and way of life “Pancasila”. From the comparation it was found that both the moral teachings of basing itself on human nature, so that both the moral teachings are humanist and paractical. If both are capable of moral teachings internalized and actualized into the behavior of Indonesian peoples, then the problem of demoralization and a crisis of identity faced by Indonesia to day can be overcome. Although the struggle for overcome the problem is extraordinary seriousness struggle becaused swift currents of globalization engulfing all nations. Abstract

Based on results an analysis of cutting camshaft ramp to fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions the suzuki shogun 125 sp in 2005, can be results of this study show that the fuel consumption average on the use of standard cam shaft for a distance of 100 km is 2777 ml. While fuel consumption average on the use of modified camshafts (duration 255o) for a distance of 100 km is 2887 ml. On the use of modified camshafts, fuel consumption for a distance of 100 km increased 110 ml. On the use of the standard exhaust camshafts CO emissions average is 1,396%. CO exhaust emissions on average use modified camshafts (duration 255o) is 5,583%. On the use of modified camshafts, CO emissions increased by 4,187%. HC exhaust emissions in the use of the average standard ridge axis is 141,667 ppm. HC exhaust emissions on average use modified camshafts (duration 255o) was 2621,33 ppm. On the use of modified camshafts HC emissions increased by 2479,663 ppm. Abstract

The objectives of this research are to improve: (1) the verbal communication of the students in Grade X of Automotive Engineering Department of State Vocational High School 5 of Surakarta through the application of the cooperative learning model of the STAD type in the education and training of Basic Automotive Technology in Academic Year 2014/2015, and (2) the learning creativity of the students in Grade X of Automotive Engineering Department of State Vocational High School 5 of Surakarta through the application of the cooperative learning model of the STAD type in the education and training of Basic Automotive Technology in Academic Year 2014/2015. This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases i.e. planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Its subjects were the students in Grade X of Automotive Engineering Department B of the aforementioned school. The data sources of research were the teacher and students of the school. They were collected through observation, in-depth interview, and documentation and analyzed by using the descriptive quantitative technique of analysis. The results of research are as follows:  1) The application of the cooperative learning model of the STAD type could improve the verbal communication of the students in Grade in Grade X of Automotive Engineering Department B of State Vocational High School 5 of Surakarta on the learning materials of Work Cycle of Four-Stroke Gasoline Engine and Work Cycle of Four-Stroke Diesel Engine. In Cycle I, the percentage of the students who fulfilled the minimum learning completeness was 54.55%, and it became 70.23% in Cycle II. 2) The application of the cooperative learning model of the STAD type could improve the learning creativity of the students in Grade in Grade X of Automotive Engineering Department B of State Vocational High School 5 of Surakarta on the learning materials of Work Cycle of Four-Stroke Gasoline Engine and Work Cycle of Four-Stroke Diesel Engine. In addition, the percentage of the students who completed the criterion was 57.11% in Cycle I and became 71.52% in Cycle II. Thus, the application of the cooperative learning model of the STAD type could improve the verbal communication and learning achievement in the education and training of Basic Automotive Technology in Academic Year 2014/2015 of the students in Grade in Grade X of Automotive Engineering Department of State Vocational High School 5 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2015.
