Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to address the prevalent difficulty among electrical engineering students in applying theoretical knowledge to the practical interpretation of transformer diagnostic data. The primary objective was to assess the effectiveness of a purpose-built diagnostic software application in improving the analytical skills required for this task. Method: The research employed a quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design involving a sample of 36 undergraduate students in a D4 Electrical Engineering program. Participants' analytical skills were measured before and after the intervention, which consisted of training with the diagnostic application. Data were collected through quantitative tests, student perception surveys, and instructor observation sheets. The analysis involved paired sample t-tests and N-Gain calculations, with findings triangulated using qualitative feedback to enhance validity. Result: The intervention yielded highly positive outcomes, demonstrating a statistically significant improvement in students' analytical abilities. The mean score rose from 56.19 to 82.58, and an average N-Gain score of 0.61 classified the application's effectiveness in the "medium improvement" category. These quantitative findings were strongly supported by qualitative data, wherein students reported the application to be highly intuitive and effective in transforming passive learning into an active, contextualized, and confidence-boosting experience. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in providing empirical evidence for a scalable and effective pedagogical tool that bridges the critical gap between academic theory and industry-required practical skills. This study presents a validated software-based solution to a persistent challenge in vocational engineering education, demonstrating a tangible method for better preparing graduates to meet professional demands in transformer diagnostics.

Abstract

This study examined how Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications influence the development of critical thinking and creativity within the Pancasila Student Profile framework in Indonesia. Using a quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test control design, the research involved 64 eleventh-grade students in a six-week project-based learning unit on environmental issues. The experimental group employed various AI tools, while the control group relied on conventional approaches. Students’ cognitive progress was assessed through validated essay tests and project rubrics. The results showed that AI integration led to substantially greater improvements in both critical thinking and creativity. Students in the AI-assisted group achieved significantly higher gains in critical thinking (5.63 vs. 2.18) and creativity (4.56 vs. 1.62), with large effect sizes indicating strong practical significance. These outcomes suggest that AI can function as a powerful cognitive amplifier, promoting deeper analytical thinking and more flexible idea generation. However, although AI enhanced cognitive aspects of the Pancasila Student Profile, it did not inherently support moral or social dimensions. Thus, future studies should investigate how AI can be combined with value-oriented and collaborative learning strategies to foster holistic development. Overall, the findings highlight the importance of adopting AI in balanced ways that advance higher-order thinking while upholding human-centered educational values.

Abstract

This study discusses the design of a Mechanism Design-based Decoy Effect Mathematical Model to shift consumer preferences from small-type houses to large-type houses. The model uses area-per-price utility that combines the ratio of building area and land area to price, and formulates the optimization of decoy attributes so that large-type houses dominate but remain close as comparators. The model is explained with a case study, namely large houses are set at a price of  IDR, land area of  m², and building area of  m²; small houses are priced at  million IDR, building area of  m², and land area of  m²; then two types of decoy house prices are set, namely  million and  million IDR. With the ratio of building and land area to price, namely  and  as well as  and , large-type houses excel in terms of building-per-price and are equivalent in terms of land-per-price. Asymmetric decoy houses can be constructed by selecting  and . The results of the mathematical model calculations obtained the closed solutions 'adjacent' and 'strong' for the two types of prices. Sensitivity analysis shows that the target margin advantage increases linearly with  and the context scale , above the base margin . This model provides an operational and easily auditable mechanism in practice.

Abstract

Writing is a difficult process of how to share or state some ideas or opinions onto paper. Through text, students’ knowledge could be revealed. The wrong usage or application could be considered as the indicator that learning is taking place; however this kind of condition shouldn’t be allowed to happen continuously. The teacher should acknowledge where the students make the most error to give the appropriate technique. The research problems of this research are (1) What are written corrective feedbacks used by the tenth grade teacher in writing of descriptive text? (2) How do the students response to the written corrective feedbacks which are used by the tenth grade teacher in writing of descriptive text? In this research, the writer used a descriptive case study to attain the data. The subjects of this research are the English teacher and the tenth grade students at SMK PGRI 1 KEDIRI. The research is done in two days. The writer uses instruments such as interview, field note, questionnaire and students’ written text. The finding of this research is that (1) the teacher uses direct, indirect and metalinguistic corrective feedback; (2) direct corrective feedback gets 48% definitely like and 38% like, indirect corrective feedback gets 2% definitely like, 8% like and 2% do not like, and metalinguistic corrective feedback gets 2% like. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that: (1) the teacher used direct corrective feedback to correct almost all the students’ errors on their written text of descriptive text; (2) students preferred direct corrective feedback more than the others.
