Abstract

Writing is a difficult process of how to share or state some ideas or opinions onto paper. Through text, students’ knowledge could be revealed. The wrong usage or application could be considered as the indicator that learning is taking place; however this kind of condition shouldn’t be allowed to happen continuously. The teacher should acknowledge where the students make the most error to give the appropriate technique. The research problems of this research are (1) What are written corrective feedbacks used by the tenth grade teacher in writing of descriptive text? (2) How do the students response to the written corrective feedbacks which are used by the tenth grade teacher in writing of descriptive text? In this research, the writer used a descriptive case study to attain the data. The subjects of this research are the English teacher and the tenth grade students at SMK PGRI 1 KEDIRI. The research is done in two days. The writer uses instruments such as interview, field note, questionnaire and students’ written text. The finding of this research is that (1) the teacher uses direct, indirect and metalinguistic corrective feedback; (2) direct corrective feedback gets 48% definitely like and 38% like, indirect corrective feedback gets 2% definitely like, 8% like and 2% do not like, and metalinguistic corrective feedback gets 2% like. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that: (1) the teacher used direct corrective feedback to correct almost all the students’ errors on their written text of descriptive text; (2) students preferred direct corrective feedback more than the others. The writer suggested that the teacher should acknowledge the theories of written corrective feedback so the students do not understand direct corrective feedback only but all types of written corrective feedback. Key Words: Writing, Direct Corrective Feedback, Indirect Corrective Feedback, Metalinguistic Corrective Feedback.

Abstract

This study explores how President Prabowo Subianto’s official Instagram account is utilized as a strategic tool in digital politics and political communication. By applying a cyber sociopragmatic approach, which integrates sociopragmatic theory (Haugh, Kádár, & Terkouraf) with concepts of digital politics, this research investigates how language, imagery, and symbols are carefully crafted to communicate political authority, represent national identity, and engage with the public. Employing qualitative methods such as observation and document analysis, the study examines how Instagram posts contribute to shaping political narratives and diplomatic discourse, focusing on the symbolic use of protocol, international cooperation, and Indonesia’s foreign relations. The analysis, guided by the social, interactional, and normative dimensions of sociopragmatics, highlights how textual and visual elements work together to convey subtle messages of political power, shape diplomatic relations, and influence public perception. The findings indicate that Instagram is not merely a platform for information sharing, but a political space for constructing political identity, enhancing public engagement, and projecting Indonesia’s presence on the global stage. This research contributes to theoretical development by linking cyber sociopragmatics with digital politics, shedding light on how sociocultural norms and contextual reasoning inform online political communication. Practically, it offers insights into how social media can be strategically leveraged by political leaders to facilitate communication, strengthen domestic and international ties, and navigate the complex landscape of digital political discourse.

Abstract

Abstract

Indoor air quality is a crucial aspect of creating a healthy and productive work environment. Decreased air quality has the potential to cause various health problems in building occupants. One of the health problems that is often associated with poor indoor air quality is Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). This study aims to synthesize findings from various studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of environmental risk factors that contribute to the occurrence of SBS. This study is a literature review to review the results of previous studies related to indoor air quality and sick building syndrome. The search database used in searching for this article comes from national and international journals. The selection of articles is based on inclusion criteria, including publication within the last 10 years, a cross-sectional study design, and discussion of indoor air quality in relation to the occurrence of SBS. The results of the review of 10 articles showed that the factors that trigger the onset of sick building syndrome symptoms include temperature, humidity, lighting, particulates (PM2.5 and PM10), air flow rate, ventilation systems, and exposure to chemical contaminants. Environmental management as an effort to overcome the occurrence of sick building syndrome includes improving the ventilation system, controlling temperature and humidity, managing chemical contaminants, controlling particulates, and improving lighting. SBS symptoms are influenced by several environmental factors that can affect worker health and productivity. Therefore, environmental management is needed as a way to overcome the occurrence of SBS.

Abstract

Introduction: Dengue fever, a vector-borne disease caused by the dengue virus (DENV) and transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, has become a major public health problem in West Java, Indonesia. Objective: This study aimed to map high-risk zones of dengue fever in West Java from 2020 to 2024 using spatial analysis techniques. Method: The study used confirmed dengue case data obtained from the West Java Health Profile and applied ArcMap version 10.5 for spatial mapping and analysis, including Global Moran’s Index, Getis-Ord Gi*, Local Indicators of Spatial Association (LISA), and hotspot analysis. Result and Discussion: The results showed a shift in the spatial distribution pattern of dengue cases from random in 2020 to significantly clustered in subsequent years. LISA analysis consistently identified high-high clusters in Bandung Regency, Bandung City, Bogor Regency, Bogor City, Depok City, and Bekasi City, indicating persistent spatial hotspots. Getis-Ord Gi* analysis further confirmed these hotspots with varying levels of statistical significance throughout the study period. Conclusion: These findings indicate the presence of endemic pockets and underscore the need for targeted public health interventions in high-risk areas. This study highlights the value of spatial analysis in understanding disease patterns and in informing evidence-based dengue control strategies in West Java.

Abstract

Different techniques have been developed for segmenting individual trees using point clouds from UAVs and other remote sensing technologies. A more accurate and reasonably priced method is still required, nevertheless, especially for tropical natural forests. This study evaluates the accuracy of individual tree segmentation using point clouds derived from RGB images in Indonesian natural forests. Compared to other sensors like LiDAR, RGB-based point clouds are significantly more cost-effective. We employed a point cloud-based segmentation algorithm, which has demonstrated superior performance over raster-based or hybrid methods. The results show that this approach is feasible for segmenting individual trees, although it tends to produce over-segmentation. This was attributed to the constraints of incomplete ground measurements resulting from dense canopy cover. The method achieved an overall segmentation accuracy of r (0.68), p (0.76), and F (0.72). Tree position accuracy had an RMSE of 1.95 meters, while the RMSE for crown radius was 1.59 meters. Future work will focus on enhancing the quality of RGB point clouds and improving algorithms to increase segmentation accuracy in natural forests.

Abstract

Background: Preeclampsia is one of the most serious complications of pregnancy and the leading cause of maternal and fetal mortality. Various studies have shown that Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx) deficiency and increased Soluble endoglin (sEng) level are consistently associated with the incidence of preeclampsia. Several studies also show the role of MTHFR A1298C and C677T gene polymorphisms in preeclampsia. Objective: This study investigated association between blood GPx, sEng levels, MTHFR A1298C and C677T gene polymorphisms in Preeclampsia. Methods: This analytic observational case-control study was conducted on 70 cases of preeclampsia and 70 controls. Blood GPx and sEng levels were measured using Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). MTHFR A1298C and C677T gene polymorphism was genotyped using Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The data obtained were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test, chi-square test, and independent T-test.Results: There were no significant differences in GPx levels or MTHFR A1298C/C677T genotype distribution between groups. sEng levels were significantly higher in the preeclampsia group than controls (p=0.001). ROC analysis identified a cut-off of 7.75 ng/mL. Among preeclampsia patients, those with the MTHFR 1298AC/CC genotypes had lower sEng levels than wildtype (p=0.027), suggesting a potential protective effect. No association was found for C677T.Conclusion: We found no significant difference in GPx level, MTHFR A1298C and C677T gene polymorphism between preeclampsia and control group. Soluble endoglin (sEng) level in the preeclampsia group (mean: 11.0±5.22) were significantly different (p=0.001) compared to the control group (mean: 8.1±5.31). Increased level of sEng is associated with incidence of preeclampsia. A key finding in this study is the significantly lower sEng levels observed in preeclampsia patients carrying the MTHFR 1298AC and 1298CC alleles compared to the control group (p=0.027). This indicates a protective factor where in preeclampsia with MTHFR gene alleles 1298AC and 1298CC sEng levels are lower compared to wildtype.
