Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of supervision in Islamic education, focusing on its understanding and implementation to improve the quality of education through professional guidance for educators. The method used in this research is literature review, which involves gathering and analyzing written sources relevant to the research topic. The results of the study show that Islamic educational supervision can be understood as a form of professional guidance that provides opportunities for teachers to develop, improve, and enhance the quality of classroom teaching. This supervision emphasizes Islamic values, not only as a tool to monitor or assess teacher performance but also as an effort to encourage the holistic development of teachers' competencies, both in technical teaching aspects and in the development of character and spirituality. Islamic educational supervision aims to help educators improve their performance by emphasizing harmonious relationships between superiors and subordinates, as well as improving the quality of teaching and learning based on religious values. Therefore, this supervision is not only focused on administrative or managerial aspects but also serves as an integral process in shaping the professionalism and character of educators in accordance with Islamic teachings, which in turn will have a positive impact on the overall quality of education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the continued relevance of perennialism and divine education theories in the context of 21st-century education, which is confronted with a multitude of global, social, and technological challenges. This study employs a qualitative research approach through library research to examine the educational concepts proposed by philosophers Sayyed Hossein Nasr, Khosrow Bagheri, and Zohreh Khosravi. These philosophers emphasize the importance of spiritual, moral, and character dimensions in education, in addition to intellectual aspects. The tenets of Perennialism and Divine Theory posit that authentic knowledge is immutable and unaffected by the vicissitudes of time. They place emphasis on the cultivation of character and spiritual understanding derived from divine teachings. This research analyzes texts related to the thoughts of the three philosophers to understand how education can be integrated with spiritual and divine values in order to form a generation that is not only competent in academic aspects, but also has spiritual and moral depth. The results demonstrate that the application of the concepts of Perennialism and Divine in modern education can help shape individuals who are balanced between intellectual intelligence and high character qualities, making it relevant and important in addressing contemporary educational challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze pedagogical innovation in Islamic educational institutions and examine the paradigm shift from traditional teacher-centered learning toward modern student-centered learning approaches. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the PRISMA framework to synthesize relevant literature on learning innovation in Islamic education. Data were collected from the Scopus database, resulting in 120 initial articles, of which 20 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed in depth. The findings indicate that pedagogical innovation in Islamic education is primarily reflected in the integration of digital technologies, the adoption of inquiry-based and problem-based learning approaches, the implementation of experiential and contextual learning, and the use of multimedia and interactive learning tools in Islamic studies. The review also reveals a significant paradigm shift from traditional teacher-centered learning toward more flexible, student-centered, and technology-supported learning environments. However, several challenges remain, including limited technological infrastructure, low digital literacy among educators, and the need to maintain Islamic ethical values within digital learning environments. Furthermore, the study proposes a conceptual model of pedagogical innovation in Islamic education that integrates technological development, learner-centered pedagogy, and value-based Islamic education. This model emphasizes that successful innovation requires a balanced integration of modern educational practices with Islamic moral and spiritual values. The findings contribute to the development of innovative pedagogical frameworks for Islamic educational institutions and provide recommendations for policymakers, educators, and researchers seeking to improve the quality and relevance of Islamic education in the digital era.

Abstract

Despite growing scholarly attention to management innovation in Islamic education, existing research remains theoretically fragmented, with limited integration of governance, leadership, curriculum, and technology into unified analytical frameworks. This systematic literature review (SLR) critically synthesizes and theorizes management innovation by identifying dimensions, analyzing interconnections, and proposing an integrated analytical framework. Following PRISMA 2020, we searched Scopus (2015–2025) using TITLE-ABS-KEY Boolean terms: ("Islamic education management" OR “madrasah management" OR “pesantren governance") AND ("innovation" OR "transformation” OR "reform"). Inclusion criteria: (i) peer-reviewed English-language studies; (ii) focus on management/governance/leadership innovation in Islamic institutions; (iii) explicit discussion of institutional outcomes; (iv) exclusion of non-institutional or theological studies. Two reviewers independently screened records. Quality appraisal used MMAT 2018—thematic synthesis employed Braun and Clarke’s (2006) reflexive approach. Of 151 records, 107 met the inclusion criteria. Only 34 studies (31.8%) employed explicit theoretical lenses, while 89 studies (83.2%) were confined to Indonesian contexts. Thematic analysis identified five interconnected dimensions: curriculum integration (n=42), transformative leadership (n=38), human resource professionalization (n=31), digital governance (n=27), and global-local curriculum alignment (n=35). Cross-dimensional analysis indicated that synergistic integration correlated with superior institutional adaptability. This review proposes the Integrated Management Innovation Framework for Islamic Education (IMIF-IE), theorizing management innovation as a multidimensional process in which five subsystems function as interdependent drivers of institutional outcomes. Future research should prioritize cross-national comparative designs, longitudinal outcome studies, theoretical integration with institutional theory, and digital governance ethics.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low motivation and learning outcomes of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at SDN 02 Lubuk Keliat. The learning process was still dominated by conventional methods, and the use of digital media, especially the Canva application, had not been implemented optimally and consistently. This study aimed to determine the intensity of Canva application usage in PAI learning, identify the level of students’ motivation and learning outcomes, and examine the effect of the intensity of Canva application usage on students’ motivation and learning outcomes. This study used a quantitative approach with a causal associative research design. The population consisted of all sixth-grade students at SDN 02 Lubuk Keliat, totaling 40 students, using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, learning outcome tests, and documentation. Data analysis employed normality tests, linearity tests, and simple linear regression analysis using SPSS. The results showed that the intensity of Canva application usage had a significant effect on students’ learning motivation with a significance value of 0.049 < 0.05. However, the intensity of Canva application usage did not have a significant effect on students’ learning outcomes with a significance value of 0.312 > 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the Canva application in PAI learning was able to increase students’ learning motivation, but had not significantly affected students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the educational landscape, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI), by enabling more adaptive and data-driven learning environments. This study aims to analyze the integration of AI in PAI learning in the digital era, focusing on its implementation, benefits, and challenges. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, with data collected from recent scientific literature (2021–2026) and analyzed through content analysis with a descriptive-analytical approach. The results indicate that AI integration in PAI occurs across pedagogical, media, and evaluation dimensions, where technologies such as adaptive learning systems, educational chatbots, and learning analytics enhance student engagement, personalize learning experiences, and improve assessment accuracy. However, the discussion reveals critical challenges, including algorithmic bias, digital inequality, and the potential erosion of moral and spiritual values if technology is applied without proper ethical considerations. In conclusion, the integration of AI in Islamic education is inevitable and beneficial, but it must be implemented within a value-based framework that preserves the essential role of teachers and aligns with Islamic principles.
