Abstract

This study explores tahnik and aqiqah as expressions of fulfilling children's rights within the framework of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and Islamic education. Both are classified as sunnah muakkadah practices that hold not only ritual significance but also deep spiritual, social, and pedagogical values. The aim is to analyze how these practices function as early educational media to instill monotheism, compassion, and moral responsibility from birth. This research employs a library-based approach with thematic analysis of classical and contemporary sources. Findings indicate that tahnik serves as the child’s first spiritual education, introducing faith and parental affection, while aqiqah embodies gratitude, social care, and character formation. The integration of fiqh and tarbiyah Islamiyah highlights that fulfilling children’s rights in Islam begins at birth through spiritually and educationally meaningful practices. The study underscores the importance of revitalizing the meaning of tahnik and aqiqah beyond tradition, as integral instruments for nurturing morality and spirituality in Muslim families.

Abstract

The most significant hurdle to Islamic religious education and character education learning at vocational school was pupils' low enthusiasm in learning, especially in participation and attentiveness. Traditional learning approaches might not suit all student styles. Thus, this study seeks to empirically evaluate the SAVI learning model (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) compared to standard learning approaches in enhancing student interest in learning. This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design. At Vocational School 1 Bandar Lampung, grade XI pupils were divided into two groups: the experimental class (provided the SAVI model therapy) and the control class (given the conventional method treatment). The instrument was a learning interest questionnaire. Analysis included precondition tests (normality and homogeneity) and t-tests. The study confirmed normality (Sig. > 0.200) and homogeneity (Sig. Levene's Test = 0.601). A 2-tailed hypothesis test significance value of 0.031 was obtained. The null hypothesis (H0) is rejected because this value is less than 0.05, showing a significant learning interest difference. The mean difference value of 3.4667 shows that SAVI-taught students had considerably higher learning interest than the control group. This interest boosts targeted deficits in pupils' desire to learn. This study suggests an innovative learning paradigm that boosts interest in Islamic religious education and character education. This study supports the holistic learning approach, which stresses combining physical, aural, visual, and intellectual aspects to engage students.

Abstract

Mumps outbreaks are a public health issue that still frequently occur in elementary school settings, particularly among children with low immunization coverage. Therefore, a comprehensive epidemiological understanding is needed as a basis for control. This research aims to describe the epidemiological picture and causative factors of the mumps outbreak that occurred at Islamic Elementary School X in Samarinda City in 2024, using a case series design. The outbreak occurred from April to October 2024, while epidemiological data collection and case verification were conducted from December 2nd to 8th, 2024. The analysis uses surveillance data, field observations, and questionnaires administered to parents and teachers A total of 33 confirmed cases of mumps were reported from 291 students during the observation period, with an attack rate of 11.33%. The dominant symptoms found included parotid gland swelling (100%), fever (78.8%), headache (63.6%), and malaise (42.4%). The main risk factors include low MMR immunization coverage (54.5%), close contact between students in classrooms and extracurricular activities, and a lack of public understanding about preventing infectious diseases. The control efforts undertaken include case isolation, classroom disinfection, personal hygiene education, and cross-sector coordination with the Samarinda City Health Office, increased vaccination coverage, and school health education to prevent future outbreaks of mumps, thru additional MMR vaccinations for students who have not completed their doses, monitoring immunization status at the beginning of each school year, and improving personal hygiene education in schools. Abstract

The phenomenon of declining interest among children in religious activities indicates the need for more practical and continuous family education in instilling religious values. The family plays a primary and essential role in shaping the spiritual foundation of children through habit formation and role modeling. This study aims to explore family-based Islamic education strategies in fostering independence in worship among young children through prayer and fasting activities. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach, namely by reviewing and analyzing various scientific sources such as accredited journals, books, and the latest research results (2021–2025) relevant to the theme of worship habits in Muslim families. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques with stages of reduction, theme categorization, and conclusion drawing oriented towards theoretical findings and Islamic education practices in the family. The results of the study show that effective religious habits for children can be built through three main aspects: parental role modeling, consistent worship routines, and strengthening the religious environment at home. In addition, the targeted use of digital media and positive communication within the family also strengthen children's spiritual motivation. This study produced the concept of the Islamic Family Worship Habituation Model as a practical strategy for fostering spiritual independence in early childhood. The implications of the study emphasize the importance of synergy between families, Islamic educational institutions, and the social environment in shaping a generation of Muslims who are independent, have strong character, and are rooted in the values of faith and piety.

Abstract

Education plays a vital role in promoting students’ academic success, particularly in subjects that involve abstract and complex concepts such as reaction rates in chemistry. These concepts integrate macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic aspects, which often lead to misconceptions when not properly understood. Therefore, students’ learning engagement encompassing behavioral, emotional, and cognitive dimensions is essential to foster meaningful understanding. This study aims to analyze the learning engagement of eleventh-grade students in the reaction rate topic at Integrated Islamic Senior High School Al-Mumtaz Pontianak during classroom learning activities. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed involving 18 students enrolled in the chemistry specialization for the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal varied levels of engagement across the three dimensions. Behaviorally, students demonstrated active participation in academic tasks, although attendance consistency and adherence to classroom rules require improvement. Emotionally, students expressed enjoyment during the learning process, yet their specific interest in the reaction rate topic remains limited. Cognitively, students exhibited high motivation and initiative, particularly in collaborative learning contexts and through the use of diverse learning resources and strategies to enhance conceptual understanding. These findings emphasize the need to cultivate balanced engagement across behavioral, emotional, and cognitive domains to strengthen students’ conceptual mastery in chemistry learning.
