Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the influence of the Marketing Mix (7P)—product, price, promotion, place, people, process, and physical evidence—on the decision to stay at Hotel Aryaduta Pekanbaru. The population of this research consists of all consumers who purchase or use services at Hotel Aryaduta Pekanbaru. Based on the formula by Hair et al., the sample size was determined to be 145 respondents using an accidental sampling technique. The primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to consumers. The data analysis techniques employed included descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis using SPSS software. The findings indicate that the variables of product, price, promotion, and process have a significant influence on the decision to stay, whereas place, people, and physical evidence do not show a significant effect. Theoretically, these results reinforce the concept that certain elements of the marketing mix play a dominant role in shaping consumer decision-making, and they contribute to the development of marketing theory, particularly within the hospitality industry. Abstract

Developing critical writing skills remains a persistent challenge for vocational college students whose learning environments emphasize practical and technical competencies over academic discourse. Research specifically examining how vocational students demonstrate critical thinking in thesis writing is still limited. This study investigates (1) the patterns of critical writing that emerge in students’ thesis reports and (2) students’ perceptions of the strategies they use when engaging in critical writing. A qualitative design combining content analysis and thematic analysis was applied. Data were collected from 22 final thesis reports from 12 study programs and reflective statements and interviews with 10 Diploma-4 students. The analytical framework was adapted from Paul and Elder’s substantive writing skills. The findings show that vocational students demonstrate strengths in explanation and basic analysis; however, more advanced cognitive skills—such as synthesis, evaluation, and argument construction—remain weak. Students rarely develop counterarguments, critically examine opposing views, or integrate sources into coherent reasoning. Thematic analysis further reveals that students perceive critical writing as fulfilling structure and format rather than as a process of reasoning, evaluation, and synthesis. Difficulties are concentrated in topic delimitation, literature review, paraphrasing, and maintaining academic integrity, while supervisor feedback becomes the primary driver of writing progress. Overall, the study highlights a gap between students’ high motivation and their limited epistemic awareness of academic argumentation. These results emphasize the need for explicit instruction, structured scaffolding, and feedback focused on argument development rather than formatting. The study contributes to the literature by offering detailed insights into how critical writing develops within vocational higher education contexts and by proposing practical directions for instructional improvement.

Abstract

One way to help the feeding process vannamei shrimp in ponds that have cloudy surface using constructed with a size of 50 × 50 × 18 cm with a water height in the pond of 7 cm from bottom, where the data in the form of images was obtained from data collection 25 times using a camera is placed at a height of 52 cm above the water surface. The pond’s entire surface was captured with one click of the camera. The number of vannamei shrimp used in this study was 7. The method used for data processing is thresholding, in which the threshold value is generated using a histogram-based technique from the image data. This method is employed to distinguish shrimp from non-shrimp regions in the image. From this study, a vannamei shrimp detection technique was developed, producing results in the form of a script that distinguishes vannamei shrimp objects from non-vannamei shrimp. The detection accuracy achieved using the thresholding method in this study is 94.28%. The positions of the shrimp were produced in the form of coordinates as a step to success according to the objectives of this study, which were able to detect positions, in order to help facilitate the process of feeding in ponds. This detection technique could be developed for application on full-scale ponds, utilizing cameras mounted on drones as a tool for detecting vannamei shrimp positions in cloudy pond water. This technology may be adapted to allow targeted feeding of shrimp in ponds, thus maximizing food consumption and minimizing food wastage.

Abstract

Data processing skills based on information and communication technology (ICT) are essential competencies for teachers, both in educational administration and in supporting data-driven learning processes. However, field conditions indicate that a number of teachers in Indramayu Regency still have limited capacity to process and analyze data digitally. This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in data processing and analysis using Microsoft Excel through a structured training program. The training was conducted at SMK Assalaam, Jatibarang District, Indramayu Regency, and was attended by teachers from various subject areas. The implementation methods included socialization, initial assessment, practice-based training using a learning-by-doing approach, and evaluation of both the process and outcomes through pre- and post-training questionnaires. The training materials focused on descriptive statistical data processing and data visualization, including the creation of bar charts, pie charts, histograms, and line charts, as well as the calculation of measures of central tendency and dispersion such as mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation using Microsoft Excel. The evaluation results indicate an improvement in participants’ ability to process data digitally, as reflected in their capacity to utilize Excel formulas and the Data Analysis feature for simple data analyses relevant to teachers’ professional tasks. In addition to improved technical competence, this program also produced outcomes in the form of enhanced data literacy and increased readiness of teachers to apply ICT-based data processing to support decision-making and instructional administration. This activity is expected to serve as a training model that can be replicated in other schools within Indramayu Regency.   Abstrak Keterampilan mengolah data berbasis teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK) merupakan kompetensi penting bagi guru, baik dalam administrasi pendidikan maupun dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran berbasis data. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of Job Competence, Workload, and Reward System on Employee Performance in the Economic Division of the Regional Secretariat in Batam City. The context of this study stems from the phenomenon of suboptimal employee performance, characterised by delays in completing macroeconomic reports and work results that do not meet organisational goals. The main factors suspected of influencing this condition are employee competencies that do not fully match job demands, disproportionate distribution of workloads, and an ineffective and unfair reward system. This study uses a quantitative, associative research design. The study population consisted of 35 employees, all sampled using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analysed using multiple linear regression in SPSS version 25. The results of the study indicate that Job Competence, Workload, and Reward System have a positive and significant effect on Employee Performance, both partially and simultaneously. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.742 indicates that these three variables explain 74.2% of the variation in Employee Performance, while factors outside the research model explain the remaining 25.8%. This finding underscores the importance of enhancing competency, managing a balanced workload, and implementing a fair and transparent reward system to boost employee performance.
