Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection/AIDS) cannot be cured but can be controlled by antiretroviral medicines. Non-compliance with the treatment is influenced by internal and external factors. The internal factors (predisposing factors) include healthcare systems, socioeconomic conditions, and patients. Meanwhile, the external factors (enabling and reinforcing factors) include the condition of the disease and therapy. This study aims to determine the influence of service flow changes and drug consultation on the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS in Sunan Kalijaga Regional Public Hospital, Demak Regency.This research employed a quasi-experimental method with one group and a pre-post design. The research subject was HIV/AIDS-positive patients in Sunan Kalijaga Regional Public Hospital, Demak Regency. These subjects had met the inclusion and exclusion research criteria. The data were collected using an in-depth interview, consisting of 14 questions to determine factors in non-compliance with treatment and patients' quality of life. Patient compliance with treatment and quality of life were measured before and after the intervention. The dependent t-test was employed to determine differences in the average score of the compliance and quality of life before and after the treatment. The majority of HIV/AIDS-positive patients in Sunan Kalijaga Regional Public Hospital are in the productive age (49 people or 96.22%), female (33 people or 62.24%), employed in private jobs (16 people or 30.19%), married (34 people or 64.2%), and graduated from primary school (20 people or 37.7%). The majority of the patients have undergone the treatment for > 1 year (32 respondents or 60.4%) and received the drug regimen of ZDV + 3TC + NVP (90.57%). There is no significant difference in the patient compliance with the treatment before and after the intervention with the sig < 0.05. Moreover, the patients have a high quality of life with a compliance value of 80-100% before and after the intervention. The pre-post-interventions have influenced the physical health domain and the social relation domain with the sig < 0.05. The provision of education affects the quality of life on physical health and social relationship factors (sig < 0.005). The implementation of drug consultation could improve the HIV-positive patients' quality of life in physical health and social relationship domains. In contrast, the intervention does not affect the patients' compliance with the therapy.

Abstract

Cases of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes are often experienced by people with old age. Even in the Bantul region, this disease is included in the 10 groups of diseases that many people suffer. There needs to be independence from the community so that they do not depend on health service facilities such as the nearest health center. There are health cadres, providing education, carrying out actions with sticky media games, and closing with a temporary blood sugar level check. The method used to test the results of the service that has been carried out is by pre-test and post-test. Based on the test results, there is a significant relationship between knowledge and attitude variables. This can be because respondents who have been exposed to information regarding the glycemic index of food have a positive attitude towards choosing low-glycemic foods. Although there is no good relationship between attitude and behavior. In addition, there was an increase in the number of respondents who answered correctly on the pre-test and post-test on the pre-knowledge variable from 81 people to 96 people, the attitude variable from 85 people to 95 people, and the behavior variable from 80 people to 90 people. In addition, examination of blood sugar levels while on the chart shows that 38% are in the pre-diabetic category and 62% have normal blood sugar levels. The conclusion is that there is a positive increase between knowledge and attitudes after being given interventions in the form of education and checking blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Anemia according to WHO (World Health Organization) is defined as crucial incidence during pregnancy. In adult groups, it is common in women of reproductive age, especially in pregnant women due to iron deficiency. Pregnant women need to consume Iron Folic Acid Supplement/Tablet Tambah Darah (TTD) regularly to prevent and overcome anemia. Several factors are important to be studied in anemic pregnant women. Therefore, researchers wanted to examine the validity and reliability of the new questionnaire. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of the questionnaire on the level of knowledge, perceived barriers, perceived benefits, and adherence in anemic pregnant women in the use of TTD. This study uses quantitative research in the form of descriptive research and uses a cross-sectional design. Using non- probability sampling with purposive sampling technique and 100 mothers. In research conducted in September 2023 showed that the validity and reliability test questionnaire on the questionnaire level of knowledge, perceived barriers, perceived benefits, family support and adherence questions are valid and also reliable with Cronbach alpha above 0.6.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a type of cancer with a fairly high death rate. DIY Province has the highest prevalence of breast cancer in Indonesia. One of the medical ways to treat cancer is chemotherapy which uses cytostatic drugs, aimed at killing or slowing the growth of cancer cells. However, these drugs cause side effects in patients. Education is needed in dealing with side effects in order to monitor the patient's condition. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the incidence of side effects of chemotherapy in breast cancer patients who use the M-Health app "Pantau Kanker" at Yogyakarta General Hospital. The research method used descriptive observational, with 41 patients as respondents. Recruitment was carried out using informed consent based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection was carried out using CRF (case report form) monitoring drug side effects. Data collection was carried out on the first, third and fifth days after chemotherapy. Monitoring is carried out through direct interviews with patients and through searching medical record data. Monitoring for nausea, vomiting and pain is carried out using the "Pantau Kanker" application based on the M-Health app with the VAS (visual analogue scale).  The results of this study showed that nausea often occurs on the first day, due to immediate side effects (24 hour duration). Then, those including delayed ADRs such as anorexia, insomnia are often found on the third day, while on the fifth day the majority occur alopecia and tingling pain. Some side effects, such as diarrhea, constipation, stomatitis (mouth ulcers), and fever, are not experienced by many patients. The therapy regimen used is dominated by low emetogenic, so that the majority of side effects that appear are in the mild category and do not interfere with the patient's activities. The conclusion of the study shows that monitoring of side effects when using cytostatic drugs occurs between days 1 to 5, the majority are in the mild category so that the patient's daily activities can still run well.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that can overcome complications and decrease quality of life.Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of counseling religious nuance and pill box on perception, religiosity, quality of life, and adherence in DM patients who get oral antidiabetic in the outpatient of Jetis 1 Primary Health Center, Bantul Regency.Method: This type of research is quasi-experimental, utilizing a pretest and posttest design with a control group. Recruitment of subjects was done by purposive sampling based on exclusion and inclusion criteria with a simple randomization of allocations in order to obtain a sample of 71 people, divided into control (n = 36) and treatment (n = 35) groups. The instrument to assess the success of counseling is the perception questionnaire (B-IPQ), religiosity, and quality of life (EQ5D-3L) that has been validated, while to measure compliance, it is calculated using the pill count method. Statistical analysis using chi square, t test, independent t-test, Wilcoxon test, and Mann-Whitney test with 95% confidence level.Results: The results showed that the treatment group after being given counseling and pill boxes had a better perception (31.37±6.44) than the control group (34.47±7.16) (p<0,05). The treatment group religiosity score was higher (64.28±3.44) compared to the control group (62.17±4.64) (p<0.05). The adherence value of treatment group (96.28±10.32) is greater than that of the control group (88.37±12.39), p<0.05. The majority of patients are still able to walk, perform self-care independently, and carry out daily activities. The highest mean quality of life score was in the treatment group (0.95±0,08) with a mean VAS (77.40±6.31).Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is an influence of giving counseling religious nuance and pill box, which is marked by an increase in perception, religiosity, quality of life, and adherence.Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, perception, religiosity, adherence, quality of life

Abstract

Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) is one of the central cytokines in the anti-carcinogenesis immune response. Black cumin seeds (BCS) have an active content of thymoquinone and unsaturated fatty acids with biological activity as immunomodulators. This study aimed to determine the effect of administration of BCS extract on IFN-γ secretion activity by DMBA-induced SD rat lymphocytes. In vivo experimental study on DMBA-induced SD rats, BCS extract was given with three doses for two weeks before being induced and five weeks during DMBA induction. IFN-γ levels in lymphocyte culture supernatants were determined by the ELISA method. The difference in IFN-γ levels between groups was analyzed by ANOVA test, the significance of 95%. The results showed that administration of BCS extract for 14 days did not affect cellular composition toward the edge of the test animal. BCS extract can increase IFN-γ secretion activity by DMBA-induced SD rat lymphocytes.Keywords: black cumin seed, IFN-γ; DMBA: immunomodulator, carcinogenesis.

Abstract

Cigarette smoke exposure triggers oxidative stress in the respiratory system through an increase in free radicals and a decrease in endogenous antioxidant activity, which contributes to lung damage and chronic diseases such as COPD and lung cancer. This study aims to investigate the potential of species from the Asteraceae family as a source of natural antioxidants in protecting the lungs and trachea from damage caused by exposure to free radicals in cigarette smoke. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with reference to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches were conducted systematically through the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases until June 2025. The inclusion criteria included in vivo studies using Asteraceae plant extracts in animals with induced oxidative stress in the respiratory system, as well as involving the measurement of biomarkers such as MDA, GSH, SOD, and CAT. Of the 198 articles found, 10 articles met the criteria and included species such as Tridax procumbens, Chromolaena odorata, Pulicaria petiolaris, and Baccharis retusa. The results showed that these species had significant antioxidant activity through their flavonoid, polyphenol, and triterpenoid compound content. However, most studies did not use a direct cigarette smoke exposure model. In conclusion, the Asteraceae family has great potential as a source of natural antioxidants to protect the respiratory system from oxidative stress, although further research with more relevant exposure models is needed. Toxicology and metabolomics approaches are also needed to strengthen the evidence for practical application in the treatment of lung diseases caused by cigarette smoke.

Abstract

The food consumed by children greatly affects how they will live in the future. The amount of nutrition that enters a child's body affects their health and intelligence. Vitamin A and minerals Ca, Zn are vital components in the body for the process of growth and development, endurance, and other important functions. The purpose of this study was to see the intake of vitamins A, Ca, and Zn between stunted and non-stunted children. The research method is observational with a cross sectional design. The population is toddlers who live in Tegalwangi, Cirebon Regency. Sample with age 24-60   month that parents are willing to fill out the consent form as research subjects. The time for the study began in January-May 2023. Data was collected using the 3x24 hour nutritional recall questionnaire method, followed by converting nutritional intake through the Nutrisurvey software. The results of the study for the stunting group obtained an average intake of vitamin A 285.3RE ± 242.34RE, Ca 233.12mg±180.7mg and Zn 2.95mg ± 0.97mg. Meanwhile, for the non-stunted group, the average intake of vitamin A was 591.0RE±735.5RE, Ca 604.5mg±906.7mg and Zn 5.3mg±3.8mg. Analysis of the difference between the intake of the two groups resulted in a P -value of 0.009 for vitamin A intake, a P -value of 0.007 for Ca, a p-value of 0.000 for Zn. There is a significant difference between stunted and non-stunted children.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop local culture-based scrapbook media on cultural diversity material and to find out whether this media is feasible and can improve student learning outcomes. The method used in the research is R&D (Research and Development) with Thiagarajan's 4D model, which has four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, questionnaires, pre-test and post-test sheets. The product was tested in class IV with 18 students. Based on the research results, local culture-based scrapbook media has an average validation value from the three experts, namely 92% in the "Very Appropriate" category. The increase in student learning outcomes after using learning media shows the effectiveness of the media by obtaining an N-Gain value of 0.76 in the "High" category and an N-Gain percentage of 76.39% in the "Effective" category. Therefore, the use of local culture-based scrapbook media can improve student learning outcomes and is very suitable for use as a learning medium.
