Abstract

The decline in water quality due to the presence of chemical elements that exceed safe limits in the environment is caused by human activities. One of the main causes of pollution is the use of heavy metals such as chromium in various industries without adequate treatment, making it one of the most harmful pollutants. In addition, liquid waste containing surfactants from synthetic detergents can form foam bubbles that are difficult to remove and interfere with gas exchange between water and the atmosphere, thus exacerbating pollution. This study aims to assess the level of acute toxicity and analyze the classification of compound heavy metals Chromium (Cr) and Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) that can cause death in zebrafish (Danio rerio). The research process includes the stages of adjusting the test biota, Range Finding Test (RFT), and Acute Toxicity Test (ATT). The concentrations employing in the acute toxicity test (ATT) were P1 (0 ppm), P2 (6.4 ppm), P3 (9.0 ppm), P4 (12.5 ppm), P5 (17.6 ppm), and P6 (25.6 ppm). This research is an experimental study that employing probit analysis to calculate the LC50 value. The results of acute toxicity analysis showed that the LC50 value for compound heavy metals Chromium (Cr) and LAS was 11.46 ppm. Based on the chemical hazard classification and labeling by the US EPA in 2004, this LC50 value is included in category IV, which indicates that compound heavy metals Chromium (Cr) and LAS are classified as relatively harmless. Abstract

Triple Bottom Line (TBL), a concept developed by John Elkington in 1994, emphasizes three main aspects in measuring corporate performance: profit, people, and planet. This study highlights the specific challenges in implementing TBL in the hospitality industry in Kendari, which tends to overlook social and environmental aspects. This knowledge gap is addressed by exploring the application of TBL in Kendari hotels through a case study approach combining qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The main findings show that the implementation of TBL in Kendari hotels significantly enhances economic, social, and environmental performance. Hotels adopting TBL experience improved operational efficiency, employee and customer satisfaction, and reduced carbon emissions and waste. Challenges in implementation, such as resource and knowledge limitations, are identified but can be overcome with support from the government and local communities. The study's implications suggest that TBL implementation can be an effective strategy for achieving long-term sustainability in the hospitality industry, particularly in small cities like Kendari. This study significantly contributes to the theory and practice of human resource management and sustainability by offering practical recommendations to improve hotel performance and sustainability. Despite limitations in data scope and methodology, these findings provide a strong foundation for further research.

Abstract

Purpose – This study analyzes the relationship between maqasid sharia and the stability of Islamic banks in Indonesia.Methodology – This study uses annual balanced panel data of eight Islamic banks in Indonesia from to 2010-2020 and utilizes a random effects model (REM) approach with the generalized least squares (GLS) method. The dependent variable is the Z-score as a proxy for bank stability, and the independent variables are bank size, the maqasid index (MI), capital adequacy ratio (CAR), gross domestic product (GDP), inflation, and interest rate.Findings – This research reveals that the stability of Islamic banking in Indonesia decreased over the study period, whereas maqasid performance increased. Furthermore, this study shows that the maqasid index and GDP negatively influence the Z-score, while bank size and CAR have a positive influence. We found no influence of inflation or the interest rate on the Z-score. The negative impact of the Maqasid index denotes poor management and financing quality, which is linked to the slanted achievement of the three Maqasid objectives (education, justice, and maslahah) during the study period.Implications – Policymakers, industry, and academics can use the research findings as recommendations to strengthen the stability of Islamic banks and their role in promoting welfare.Originality – This study employs the maqasid index as a proxy for Islamic bank performance to analyze its influence on bank stability.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the performance-based budget planning process at Malang Agricultural Development Polytechnic. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the planning process carried out by Malang Polbangtan refers to the stages outlined in the National Development Planning System which consists of the preparation of plans, determination of plans, control of the implementation of the plan, and evaluation of the implementation of the plan. At the planning stage, the input used in the preparation is still a rough estimate based on trends and has not been supported by valid data. As a result, changes to what was planned in the implementation of the plan were often carried out. Control and evaluation has not been supported by the existence of internal policies that in writing provide guidance in determining the performance indicators of each program or activity that has been planned, so that in determining the performance achievements of the program and activities activities are hampered, because performance indicators are not performance oriented

Abstract

This research aims to find out the renewal of NU (nahdatul ulama)'s fatwa of Bahsul Masail about the law of family planning (KB, keluarga Berencana, or family planning) in Indonesia, where it started from a law of haram, makruh, and halal. It specifies conditions through the maqasid shari'ah approach as a renewal of Islamic law. This study utilizes qualitative and descriptive analytical methods using a maqasid approach. In addition, the data that is obtained is analyzed descriptively by using deductive ideation methods. The results of this study are: 1) The reason for changing the legal fatwa on family planning( KB) from haram, makruh, and halal with condition is because of a new 'illat, namely the demands of the times. 2) Bahthul Masail NU agrees to the new fatwa under certain conditions. 3) The renewal of the new Family Planning Fatwa through the maqasid sharia approach can be carried out not only to avoid economic downturns but also to save the nation's children from caretakers, disease, low morality, faith, and crime, as well as other social ailments. Regarding the permissibility of the Bahtsul Masail Family Planning Program, NU has already paid attention to its goals (maqasid) and the conditions of society because family planning is essentially only a means or tool (wasail) to achieve goals (maqasid). Means for good and maslahah are considered permissible and sunnah, while means for evil and harm are considered makruh and unlawful.

Abstract

Cancer is a disease characterized by abnormal cell mechanisms. The development of alternative cancer treatments is still needed. One of them is the music therapy. The music therapy uses sound vibrations to improve healing. Al-Quran, the Holy book of muslims, recites with measured recitation produces beautiful tones. Reading and recitating of Al-Quran is an important form of worship for which a Muslim can expect reward and benefit in the Hereafter. Al-Fatihah is one of surahs in Al-Qur'an that is often read by Muslims and used as a prayer for healing. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cytotoxic activity and cell cycle modulation on Hela cells with exposure of murattal Al-Quran and cisplatin combination. Audio exposure murattal Al-Fatihah and its combination with cisplatin to HeLa cells were tested using the MTT method assay. Induction of apoptosis and modulation of cell cycle evaluated by flow cytometry method. Treatment used 30 minutes Audio Murattal (AM), Cisplatin 10 µg/mL (Cis), and the combination of AM + Cis caused a decrease in the viability of HeLa cells respectively 80.14%, 69.86%, and 64.32%. The results of flow cytometry explained that in treatment of AM there was inhibition in the G2-M phase and induction of apoptosis in the M5 phase. Whereas in treatment AM + Cis inhibition occurs in the S, G2-M phase, and induction of apoptosis in the M5 phase. Audio Murattal Al-Quran presents cytotoxic effects on HeLa cells and to provide a synergistic impact on cisplatin so that disclosure therapy murattal can be recommended for supporting therapy in the treatment of cancer (supportive therapy). Keywords: Al-Quran, Audio murottal, HeLa Cells, Cell Viability, Flow cytometry

Abstract

On December 25, 2024, a flood disaster struck Sabbangparu Sub-district, Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi, caused by heavy rains that persisted for several days. This led to the overflow of the Walanae River and additional flooding from neighboring regencies. The disaster affected thousands of residents, submerged agricultural lands, and completely cut off several access roads. This study conducted a simulation aimed at predicting flood-affected areas due to the overflow of the Walanae River in Wajo Regency as part of future disaster mitigation efforts. The simulation utilized HEC-RAS 6.4.1 software, which has the capability to model 1D and 2D fluid flow. Additionally, flood-affected area analysis was performed using ArcGIS 10.8. The flood map simulation results indicated that the affected area covered 10,814.35 hectares, equivalent to 68.22% of the administrative area of Sabbangparu Sub-district. The river cross-section simulation revealed that most of the Walanae River cross-sections were unable to accommodate the peak discharge of 3,658.4 m³/s, causing water to overflow into residential areas and rice fields. This poses the risk of significant economic losses and even fatalities. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference in planning future flood disaster mitigation efforts.
