Abstract

This study examines the integrated Islamic education system developed by the Wahdah Islamiyah Movement as a contemporary model that harmoniously integrates spiritual, intellectual, and social dimensions. The main objective is to provide a philosophical analysis of the ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundations of Wahdah Islamiyah’s educational system in shaping insan kamil (a holistic human being) grounded in tauhid values. Using a qualitative approach with philosophical analysis, this research draws upon official documents, scholarly works of Wahdah Islamiyah’s leaders, and relevant prior studies. The findings indicate that Wahdah Islamiyah’s educational system is integrative, transformative, and rooted in Qur’anic and Prophetic principles. It emphasizes the harmony between knowledge and practice, intellect and spirituality, as well as between formal, non-formal, and informal education. The novelty of this research lies in identifying the philosophical synthesis achieved by Wahdah Islamiyah, which bridges the ideals of classical Islamic education with the demands of modern educational paradigms. This study contributes conceptually to the development of an integrated Islamic education model relevant to contemporary global and societal challenges.

Abstract

Many researchers in the second language field face the challenge of choosing the right method for their research, often relying on one method for their various studies. This study aims to explore various research methods in the context of the second language classroom by conducting a content analysis based on a book by Rod Ellis. This research is qualitative and is conducted through a literature study, the analysis uses Krippendorff's content analysis method, which includes six stages: unitizing, sampling, recording, reducing, inferring, and narrating. The research findings show that Ellis categorizes research methods into two main categories: formal and practical. Formal research includes experimental, descriptive, and hybrid, theory-driven research. While practical research involves action and exploratory, practitioner research does not stem from theory but from teachers' desire to experiment with innovations in their classrooms.
Revitalizing the Mosque’s Role as an Economic Stabilizer for the Muslim Community: Social Fiqh Perspectives and Contemporary Practice Masuwd, Mowafg

Abstract

Since the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the mosque has functioned not only as a center of worship but also as a social institution with a strategic role in developing the community’s economy. However, over time its function has tended to be reduced to ritual religiosity alone, leaving its role as a stabilizer of the community’s economy less than optimal. This article aims to reassess the mosque’s functions through the lens of social fiqh and their implementation in contemporary practice. The approach employed is normative-empirical: it examines Qur’anic verses, hadiths, and classical fiqh literature, then contextualizes them within modern mosque management practices encompassing the administration of zakat, infaq, charity (sadaqah), and productive waqf. The findings indicate that revitalizing the mosque’s functions can serve as an instrument for wealth distribution, the economic empowerment of congregants, and the safeguarding of Islamic business ethics. In addition, contemporary practice reveals models of “productive mosques” capable of becoming centers for community-based economic empowerment. Thus, the mosque holds significant potential as a pillar of the socio-economic balance of Muslim society, provided it is managed professionally, accountably, and in integration with Islamic financial institutions.

Abstract

This study explores the multidimensional concept of hijrah in the Qur’an through the perspectives of two contemporary exegetes representing the Sunni and Shia traditions: Muhammad Quraish Shihab (Tafsir al-Mishbah) and Nāṣīr Makārim Shīrāzī (Tafsir al-Amṯāl). Employing a qualitative library-based approach and a cross-mazhab thematic tafsir method, the research aims to uncover how both scholars interpret hijrah as a relevant social and spiritual transformation. Findings indicate that both exegetes view hijrah holistically, encompassing physical movement, social struggle, and inner purification. Shihab emphasizes hijrah as moral and societal renewal toward an inclusive and ethical community in the Indonesian context, while Shīrāzī highlights its spiritual dimension as an inner jihad against egoism and injustice. Despite doctrinal differences, both use similar analytical and literary-social methods, demonstrating a convergence on hijrah as a timeless call for ethical transformation and social justice. This cross-mazhab approach enriches Qur’anic scholarship by bridging sectarian perspectives and offering practical implications for contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the role of Islamic economics in promoting inclusive and sustainable development in Indonesia. Islamic economics is viewed as an alternative system that emphasizes the principles of justice, balance, and public welfare, thereby providing solutions to various modern economic issues, including social inequality and market instability. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through literature studies, this research examines the contribution of Islamic economic instruments such as Islamic banking, zakat, waqf, and sovereign sukuk in strengthening equitable and sustainable economic growth. The findings indicate that Islamic economics has significant potential to enhance financial inclusion, support development financing, and reduce social disparities. However, low levels of Islamic financial literacy, limited product innovation, and regulatory challenges remain obstacles that need to be addressed urgently. This study recommends strengthening policies, increasing literacy, and advancing digital innovation as the main strategies to optimize the role of Islamic economics in inclusive and sustainable development.

Abstract

Abstract: Debates on Bay’ al-Istijrār often revolve around permissibility of take now pay later arrangements, yet the decisive tension lies in the method of istiḥsān and the limits of gharar, especially regarding price certainty and the moment a contract is formed. A normative Islamic law inquiry at the level of doctrine applies conceptual, historical, and philosophical approaches, using document study based on Radd al-Muḥtār ʿalā al Durr al Muḥtār Sharḥ Tanwīr al-Abṣār as the primary source for bayʿ al-istijrār and Nasamāt al Ashār as a supporting source for istiḥsān. Ibn ʿĀbidīn’s argument frames the permissibility of Bay’ al-Istijrār not as an unregulated appeal to habit, but as istiḥsān that operates after naṣ, ijmā’, and qiyās are examined. Contract formation is understood to occur with each act of taking the goods, so the subject matter exists at the moment of sale and defined price must be knowable at the time of taking. End of period calculation functions as a settlement record, not as a device to postpone price certainty. ‘Urf serves to clarify practical standards when it qualifies as ‘urf ṣaḥīḥ and does not conflict with naṣ, while ‘urf fāsid is rejected because it expands uncertainty. Recontextualisation to contemporary muʿāmalah is directed toward technical tests of price standards, proof of delivery, rules on unilateral price changes, and accessible dispute resolution, so istiḥsān supports facilitation without sacrificing certainty.

Abstract

The global Muslim population is widely dispersed, with Indonesia having the largest Muslim majority. The halal industry, including the modest fashion sector, operates within an increasingly competitive global market. This study examines the development and challenges of Indonesia’s modest fashion industry within the global halal economy, addressing the critical barriers to its international expansion. Utilizing a qualitative research design with a descriptive approach, this study analyzes data from industry reports, policy documents, and relevant literature. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s Global Islamic Economy Indicator (GIEI) score for the fashion sector improved significantly from 2018 to 2021, positioning the country among the top 10 globally. However, this growth aligns with similar trends observed in competing nations, indicating that Indonesia still faces substantial challenges in maintaining its competitive edge. Key barriers include limited access to financing, difficulties in penetrating international markets, evolving consumer demands, inconsistent government policies, and the need for technological advancements in marketing, research, and development. Despite these obstacles, Indonesia’s modest fashion industry continues to expand, driven by increasing global recognition and ongoing industry innovation. The study highlights the need for strategic policy interventions and enhanced industry collaborations to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global halal fashion market.

Abstract

Students enrolled in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Study Program are trained to become professional teachers capable of teaching all branches of PAI subjects in schools and madrasahs, including Islamic Cultural History (SKI). The SKI Learning System in Madrasahs course aims to equip students with pedagogical competencies in teaching SKI. However, the limited availability of adequate teaching materials and learning resources poses a challenge in this learning process. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the Encyclopedia of Islamic History, compiled by the Research and Islamic Studies Team of Egypt, as a supplementary book for the Islamic Cultural History textbook published by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2020. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. Data collection techniques include literature review and documentation, while data analysis is conducted using a descriptive-interpretative method. The findings indicate that the Encyclopedia of Islamic History is suitable as a supplementary book for SKI learning. This book explores Islamic culture from a historical perspective and shares similarities in content with 15 out of 20 chapters in the Ministry of Religious Affairs textbook. Therefore, it serves as an effective reference for SKI teachers and prospective PAI educators, including fourth-semester students at STAI Al-Hidayah Bogor.

Abstract

This investigates moral education through spiritual reinforcement of teachers in the Qodiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah Tarekat at MA Darul Ulum Karangpandan, Pasuruan, addressing contemporary moral degradation in formal education. Employing qualitative case study methodology with triangulated data collection, the research is grounded in the theo-anthropocentric paradigm and Islamic intellectual traditions. Three principal findings emerged. First, "kun ma'a man ma'allah" constitutes the conceptual framework, operationalized through tazkiyah al-nafs, istiqāmah, muḥāsabah, and divine love. Second, implementation occurs through dual approaches: value internalization via takhallī and taḥallī strategies incorporating bay'ah, riyāḍah, tawajjuhān, and qudwah; and institutional integration through religious activities and performance appraisal systems. Third, implications manifest in teachers' spiritual transformation encompassing ma'rifatullāh, al-wa'y al-ilāhī, and takhalluq bi akhlāq Allāh. The study demonstrates how Sufistic moral education cultivates ethical consciousness among educators within formal educational contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Islamic Religious Education learning based on Multiple Intelligences, focusing on linguistic and musical intelligences at Al-Azhar 45 Islamic Elementary School Palembang. Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences offers a revolutionary perspective by recognizing that each individual possesses a unique combination of various types of intelligence. This qualitative research, employing a case study approach. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, incorporating triangulation techniques to ensure validity. The findings reveal that the implementation of learning begins with an observation of Multiple Intelligences to identify students' dominant intelligence profiles, followed by designing adaptive teaching modules. Development of linguistic intelligence is facilitated through reading, writing, storytelling, group discussions, and religious language games, while musical intelligence is developed through Islamic songs, melodic verse recitations, and the use of traditional instruments. Authentic assessment encompasses cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains without employing ranking systems. The results indicate significant impacts on students' social attitudes, including seven noble character indicators: honesty, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, cooperation, courtesy, and confidence. Students demonstrate increased empathy, collaboration skills, respect for others' opinions, and confidence in expressing their ideas. Multiple Intelligences-based learning creates holistic, meaningful, and enjoyable learning experiences, enabling deep internalization of Islamic values that manifest in sustainable behavioral changes in students’ daily lives.
