Abstract

In this paper, the author analyses the role of gender in traditional and modern Bugis family focusing on how cultural continuity and societal transformation intersect to create a state of familial management and the broader implications on society. Using a qualitative methodology, the study examines the historical process by which traditional Bugis families granted authority, responsibility and symbolic meaning to males through a patriarchal framework that was supported by cultural values, including siri (honor) and pacce (compassion). It was the role of women in this arrangement to be involved in the domestic and cultural continuity, but they did not have the decision making authority as their male counterparts. Modern Bugis families, especially in urban settings, on the contrary are showing a slow transition into gender elasticity, propelled by education, economic engagement and contact with external ideas of equality. Women are also more empowered in terms of financial decisions, careers and are also more active in the domain of leadership roles, whereas men are more engaged in domestic roles. Continuity however still exists because the cultural values of malebbi (modesty) and warani (courage) still influences gender ideals, the conflict with alternative conceptions of masculinity and femininity is still an intergenerational conflict. The evidence shows us that tradition has not been completely abandoned, but it is renegotiated; the traditional values are rebuilt in the new realities of society. These observations have relevance in the area of management studies since cultural legitimacy in the process of organizational change underscores the need to ensure that long-term change does not come through undermining tradition but by redefining it to fit into the new socio-economic environment. Therefore, the study fits in the wider gender, management, and cultural adaptation debates, and the case of the Bugis can serve as an illustrative case of the need to balance between heritage and modernization.

Abstract

Decreased consciousness is a clinical condition that requires rapid and accurate assessment. One method used is the application of nail bed pressure pain stimulation to elicit a response from the patient. This study aims to determine the consistency of responses from patients with decreased consciousness when given pain stimulation based on the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score in the emergency department of Dr. M. Djamil Hospital in Padang. This was a quantitative descriptive study with 70 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Consciousness levels were measured twice. Data were collected in July 2025 using the GCS assessment format, then analyzed descriptively and cross-tabulated using frequency distribution, percentages, means, standard deviations, and correlations. The nail bed pressure technique produced an average GCS score of 6.01 ± 0.625 on the first assessment and 6.04 ± 0.711 on the second assessment. Most scores were in the range of 6–7. The nail bed pressure technique provided an inconsistent picture of changes in GCS responses in patients with decreased consciousness.

Abstract

Takalar Regency, particularly in Galesong City, offers significant opportunities in agricultural and fisheries resources that have not been fully utilized to address nutritional problems in children. This community service is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of mothers in Galesong City in processing local agricultural and fishery products into nutritious and appealing products for children, thereby meeting their nutritional needs. The approach used is participatory, consisting of socialization and determination of the need for healthys products for children; education on the importance of balanced nutrition and the use of local resources; demonstration and training in the manufacture of various processed foods, such as fish nuggets with vegetables, shredded fish with high protein content, cakes made from sweet potatoes or cassava enriched with fish or eggs, and other innovative preparations; training on how to package attractive and hygienic products; basic training on marketing to support home-based business potential. Mothers from Galesong City are expected to be involved and apply the knowledge they gain in their daily lives. The program was evaluated based on participants' understanding of nutrition and nutritious products, their improvement in food processing skills, and the increase in children's interest in healthy foods of local origin. This helps mothers create a diverse range of nutritious foods, increase children's intake, and improve their nutritional status. In addition, this program is expected to encourage innovation in local food processing, open up opportunities for MSMEs in processing based on local agricultural and fishery resources, and improve the welfare of local communities.

Abstract

Excessive use of inorganic fertilizers can cause soil degradation and environmental pollution. To address this issue, composting organic materials such as manure and wood chips can be an environmentally friendly alternative solution. This program aimed to demonstrate the composting process for a mixture of manure and wood chips through activities conducted by students of the Agroecotechnology Study Program at Universitas Sulawesi Barat, class of 2022, in the greenhouse. Compost was made by mixing 20 buckets of wood powder with 20 kg of manure, adding 35 ml of EM4 solution dissolved in 1 liter of water, and fermenting for 2-3 weeks. The results of the practical activity showed that the compost produced was dark brown, had an earthy smell, and had a crumbly texture, indicating that the decomposition process was successful. This compost has the potential to increase soil fertility, improve soil structure, and support sustainable agriculture in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner.

Abstract

Education for students with intellectual disabilities poses unique Education for students with intellectual disabilities poses unique challenges, particularly when teaching abstract subjects such as Islamic values, which encompass ritual, moral, and ethical dimensions. Understanding how teachers’ creativity in utilizing instructional media can improve students’ comprehension of these values is crucial for advancing inclusive education practices. This study aimed to examine the relationship between teachers’ creativity in instructional media and students’ comprehension of Islamic values among students with intellectual disabilities at SLBN Tanah Grogot, Indonesia. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 15 students from grades VII–IX and three Islamic education teachers, selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a teacher creativity questionnaire, classroom observations, and students’ summative assessment scores in Islamic education, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product–moment correlation. The findings revealed that teachers demonstrated a very high level of creativity (mean score = 95%), characterized by the use of varied, adaptive, and interactive media that encouraged active participation. Students’ comprehension scores indicated a good level of understanding (mean = 80.93), and a strong positive correlation (r = 0.87, p < 0.05) was found between teacher creativity and students’ comprehension. These results highlight that creative use of instructional media significantly contributes to improving students’ ability to understand and apply Islamic values. The study highlights the importance of training teachers in designing inclusive and engaging media, suggesting that such approaches can improve moral education outcomes for students with intellectual disabilities. This result provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers seeking to enhance inclusive religious education globally.

Abstract

The local wisdom of Patorani fishermen plays an important role in preserving the marine ecosystem and supporting community welfare. Their ecological ethics, such as prohibiting fishing during certain periods, using environmentally friendly fishing gear, and collective practices in boat maintenance and distribution of catches, reflect sustainable fisheries management. These traditions not only preserve coastal ecosystems but also strengthen socio-economic resilience through solidarity, cooperation, and fair economic practices. This value system contributes to poverty reduction, decent work, and marine conservation in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, SDG 8, and SDG 14. However, limited access to markets, technology, and capital remains a challenge in improving livelihoods. Strategic efforts are needed to preserve and revive Patorani wisdom amid modernization, including digital cultural documentation, integration into coastal education, and the development of creative economic initiatives. Collaboration between the government, academics, and fishing communities is essential to increase empowerment and support sustainable development.

Abstract

Religious moderation serves as a fundamental principle in the context of public service in Indonesia, where religious, cultural, and ethnic diversity demands fair, inclusive, and civilized governance. This study aims to analyze the role of religious moderation in public service policy in Indonesia, particularly in bridging the relationship between bureaucratic neutrality and social harmony within a multicultural society. To date, studies on religious moderation have largely focused on education and interfaith dialogue, while the dimensions of public policy and bureaucratic culture remain underexplored. Using a qualitative approach through policy analysis and literature review, this research examines how the values of religious moderation tawasuth (balance), tasamuh (tolerance), ‘adl (justice), and musawah (equality) can be integrated into an inclusive, fair, and ethical public service system. The findings indicate that the internalization of moderation values within public policy can strengthen governmental ethics, enhance public trust, and reinforce social cohesion amid diversity. This study also proposes a conceptual model called Moderation-Based Public Service Governance (MBPSG) as a new framework for public service management grounded in the values of religious moderation, balancing administrative efficiency with social justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence stock prices of metal subsector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, focusing on the effects of the Current Ratio and Debt to Equity Ratio. A quantitative approach was used, relying on secondary data obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2020–2024 period. Data were collected through literature review and document analysis. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in 12 companies out of 34 issuers after applying specific criteria. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that the Current Ratio and Debt to Equity Ratio simultaneously have a significant effect on stock prices in the metal subsector. Furthermore, the Debt to Equity Ratio shows a more dominant influence, highlighting that leverage is an important factor in determining stock value for companies in the metal and mineral subsector. These results emphasize that liquidity and capital structure play a crucial role in market valuation.
