Abstract

Road infrastructure plays a crucial role in supporting economic growth, particularly in agrarian and resource-rich regions. This research aims to conduct a comparative analysis of rigid and flexible pavement types in terms of cost efficiency and construction duration on the Sambeng–Kedewan road segment in Bojonegoro Regency. Utilizing the MDPJ 2017 method for flexible pavement design and Pd T-14-2003 for rigid pavement, this research employs a quantitative descriptive-comparative approach to analyze structural thickness, estimated construction costs, and implementation timelines for both 20- and 40-year design life spans. Primary data were collected through field surveys, including Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests for subgrade CBR values, while secondary data were sourced from government agencies and technical literature. Traffic load analysis was performed using ESA5 (Equivalent Standard Axle 5-ton) and JSKN (Number of Commercial Vehicle Axles) parameters, and cost efficiency was evaluated through RAB (Cost Budget Plan) and life cycle cost analysis (LCCA). Findings from various case studies and technical assessments indicate that although rigid pavement involves higher initial investment, it offers greater longevity and lower maintenance expenses in the long term. This research provides crucial insights for local governments in determining the most efficient pavement type under limited budgets and strict construction timeframes. The results are expected to serve as a reference for future infrastructure planning in similar rural and agricultural regions.

Abstract

AbstractBackground: Non-neoformans cryptococci were previously considered to be saprophytes and nonpathogenic to humans. Cryptococcus laurentii is commonly found in the environment and pigeon feces and has been reported to be an emerging human fungal pathogen that causes infection in the immunocompromised host. Here, we report a unique case of pulmonary cryptococcosis coinfection with Miliary Tuberculosis.Case: A 14-years old adolescent underweight boy was admitted to the Emergency Unit with the chief complaint of fever, cough, chest pain, breathlessness, night sweats, malaise, and weight loss. He was referred from Public Health Center in Sleman Yogyakarta with Miliary Tuberculosis and consumed six weeks of fixed-dose combinations of the first-line anti-tuberculosis drug. Microbiology culture of good quality patient sputum revealed Cryptococcus laurentii along with Klebsiella oxytoca. The patient was diagnosed with Pulmonary Cryptococcosis. The patient's symptoms, especially fever and chest pain, were not improved by oral Fluconazole 200 mg treatment. However, he had an excellent response to Levofloxacin 500 mg during hospitalization and oral Fluconazole therapy at 400 mg/day for eight weeks. After eight weeks of Fluconazole treatment, the patient got well, and then Fluconazole was stopped. Anti-tuberculosis was treated for six months, and no recurrence was found. Conclusion: This article reports the rare pulmonary involvement of Cryptococcus laurentii in adolescent patients with Miliary Tuberculosis patient in Indonesia. A high degree of pulmonary mycosis suspicion and techniques improvement for respiratory specimen collection, culture, and identification contribute to early diagnosis and fungal infection treatment. In addition, interprofessional discussion can improve patient treatment and outcomes.

Abstract

Nutritional challenges during early childhood remain a pressing global concern that significantly influence a country’s Human Development Index. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and risk of undernutrition-related health problems among toddlers in Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province. Using a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, data were collected from four integrated community health post (Posyandu) located across three sub-districts. The study population comprised toddlers attending Posyandu in West Balikpapan, Central Balikpapan, and South Balikpapan. A purposive sampling technique was applied based on predefined criteria, yielding a sample size of 78 toddlers. Findings revealed that from 78 toddlers, 11,5% toddlers were at risk of malnutrition, 20,5% toddlers were at risk of undernutrition, and 2,6% toddlers were at risk of stunting. These findings highlight the urgent need for targeted preventive interventions to address undernutrition risks in early childhood and offer valuable evidence to support regional health policy development. Prenatal interventions, including maternal supplementation and antenatal care are crucial. Exclusive breastfeeding remains essential but should be supported by broader strategies addressing complementary feeding and maternal conditions. Longitudinal studies are recommended to establish causal pathways.

Abstract

Linear algebra over the semiring  R_ε with ⊗ (plus) and ⨁ (maximum) operations which is known as max-plus algebra. One of the isomorphic with this algebra is a min-plus algebra. Min-plus algebra that is the set R_(ε^' )=R∪{ε'}, with ⊗^' (plus) and ⨁' (minimum) operations. Given a matrix whose components are elements of R_(ε^' )  is called min-plus algebra matrices. Any matrix can be connected by an inverse. In conventional algebra, a square matrix is said an invertible matrix if the det⁡〖(A)〗≠0. In contrast to max-plus algebra, a matrix is said to have inverse condition if it meets certain conditions. Some concepts from the max-plus algebra can be transformed to the min-plus, because of their structural similarity. This means that the inverse matrix concept in max-plus can be constructed into a min-plus version. Thus, this study will explain the inverse of a matrix over the min-plus algebra, property of multiplying two invertible matrices, and connection between invertible matrix and linear mapping used the literature study method, with literature sources such as books, journals, articles, and theses. The data analysis technique used in this research is qualitative data analysis technique. Then, this article has a principal result that is matrix A∈R_(ε^')^(n×n) has a right inverse if and only if there are permutations of σ and the value of λ_i<ε', i∈{1,2,3,…,n} such that A=P_σ ⊗^' D(λ_i ) which is the inverse of matrices. Furthermore, if B is the correct inverse that satisfies A⊗^' B=E then B⊗^' A=E and B is uniquely determined by A.

Abstract

A min-plus algebra is a linear algebra over the semiring R_ε', equipped with the operations “"⊕'=min" ” and “⊗=+”. In min-plus algebra, there is the concept of characteristic polynomial obtained from permanent of matrix. Min-plus algebra can be extended to an interval min-plus algebra, which is a set 〖 I(R)〗_ε' equipped with the operations ¯("⊕'" ) and ¯("⊗" ). Matrix over interval min-plus algebra has some special forms, one of which is a triangular matrix. The concept of characteristic polynomial and eigenproblem can be applied to a triangular matrix. There is a more concise formula for solving the eigenproblem of triangular matrix because this matrix is a special form of matrix. This research will discuss the characteristic polynomial and solving eigenproblem of triangular matrix over interval min-plus algebra using its characteristic polynomials. The research method used is a literature study. From the research results, the permanent formula and characteristic polynomial formula of the triangular matrix are obtained. It is also obtained that the smallest corner of the characteristic polynomial is the principal eigenvalue and the vector eigen corresponding to the principal eigenvalue can be obtained through the matrix A_λ. For readers who are interested in this topic, can research about characteristic polynomial and eigenproblem of matrices with other special forms over min-plus interval algebra.

Abstract

Creative thinking is one of the abilities that students must have. This research aims to explore creative thinking skills in solving open-ended problems in grade 7 students at a junior high school in Surakarta. This research uses a qualitative method. The instruments used are questionnaires, questions, and interviews. The test instrument uses one open-ended question on algebra material. The sampling method was carried out by purposive sampling where the subject was selected based on the results of the Adversity Response Profile (ARP) questionnaire score. The research subjects were 7th-grade students at one of Surakarta's private junior high schools who had studied algebraic form operations. Data were collected through tests and interviews with 4 research subjects. The data validity used was method triangulation. The results of the study show that all subjects can go through all stages of the creative thinking process although there are differences in each stage. In the preparation stage, climbers-type students do not need a long time to understand the problem. Unlike the campers, they take time to understand the problem by reading it repeatedly. At the incubation stage, students pause to look for ideas for solving the problem. At the illumination stage, students have different ways of solving the problem. At the verification stage, climbers-type students recalculate the answers written to check their correctness. While campers type students only skim the answers they write. Climbers-type students do not give up easily and do not experience difficulties in solving problems, while campers-type students take longer to understand the problem and almost give up in solving the problem. Based on the findings obtained, teachers need to consider the different types of students' creative thinking in designing class activities in order to improve students' creative thinking abilities through classroom learning.
