Abstract

This study examines the codicological characteristics of two ancient Qur'anic manuscripts, A47 from Terengganu and A694 from Aceh, which are part of the collection of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (PNRI). Using a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods, this research analyzes the physical aspects of the manuscripts including calligraphy, illumination, paper type, binding techniques, and additional texts, as well as textual aspects covering rasm, qira'at, dhabt, tajwid, and waqf signs. The results show that both manuscripts reflect a unique synthesis between Islamic traditions and local cultures. Manuscript A47 displays complex geometric patterns with gold color dominance, reflecting the aesthetics of Terengganu, while A694 shows minimalist floral illuminations with dominant red and black colors, characteristic of Acehnese culture. Textual analysis reveals variations in rasm and qira'at, with A694 tending to be more conservative in Rasm Uthmani and following certain qira'at such as Ibn Amir and Hamzah, while A47 is more accommodative to isbat alif and follows the majority qira'at of 'Asim via Hafs. This study concludes that these manuscripts are not only religious texts but also cultural artifacts that reflect the dynamics of transmission and adaptation of the Qur'anic text according to the needs of Muslim communities in Terengganu and Aceh, as well as contributing to the understanding of the history of Islamic civilization in the Archipelago.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The Gasing method (Gampang, Asyik, Menyenangkan) emphasizes ease and enjoyment, yet evaluations frequently neglect the core pillar of enjoyment. This research aims to construct and validate the Holistic Gasing Evaluation Model (HGEM) to balance cognitive speed with affective resilience, making instructional claims of joy empirically verifiable. Methodology: This study utilizes a Type 2 Design and Development Research approach. The procedure involves a systematic analysis of eighty-three empirical papers via Publish or Perish software. A conceptual design phase synthesizes identified theoretical references to establish thirty-six specific model sub-indicators. The final development phase employs the Aiken method with three doctoral experts to validate the model content and structural integrity. Main Findings: The Holistic Gasing Evaluation Model establishes five core dimensions supported by thirty-six psychometric sub-indicators, replacing anecdotal observations with validated instruments like the Mathematics Anxiety Rating Scale. Results show a mean Aiken’s V of 0.86. Discussion indicates that standardizing these metrics identifies instructional risks when rapid speed gains correlate with elevated anxiety, ensuring sustainable numerical performance. The primary limitation of this developmental phase is the focus on internal content validation without immediate large-scale longitudinal field data. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research introduces the first psychometrically validated Affective-Safety guardrail for Gasing evaluation, directly resolving the "Joy Paradox" where anecdotal claims of enjoyment lack empirical verification. By transitioning from qualitative narratives to rigorous standardized benchmarks, this study advances knowledge by ensuring that rapid computational gains do not compromise student affective well-being through replicable assessment protocols.

Abstract

Background: Adequate post-exercise nutrition is critical for recovery and performance, especially among adolescent athletes undergoing growth and development. However, research on locally formulated and culturally relevant recovery drinks for Indonesian youth remains scarce. This study addresses that gap by testing a novel recovery drink using familiar local ingredients. Research Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the effects of consuming a healthy recovery drink made from low-fat milk, banana, cocoa powder, and gulo puan on muscular strength, muscular endurance, VO2 max, and muscle soreness in adolescent soccer athletes. Methods: A randomized pretest-posttest control group design was conducted with 16 adolescent soccer players (aged 15-18) from Sriwijaya State Sport School, Palembang, over a 5-day intervention. Performance indicators included handgrip strength (dynamometer), vertical jump, muscular endurance (Muscular Fitness Test), VO2 max (multistage fitness test), and muscle soreness (visual analog scale). Finding/Results: The results showed that the consumption of the healthy recovery drink significantly improved handgrip strength, vertical jump performance, and muscular endurance in the intervention group. The reduction in upper body muscle soreness post-exercise was also greater in the intervention group compared to the control group. Conclusion: The recovery drink formulated in this study has the potential to serve as an effective nutritional alternative for adolescent football athletes in the post-training recovery phase to enhance athletic performance by promoting energy replenishment and muscle regeneration. The short duration of the study and limited sample size may have restricted the ability to detect long-term effects, particularly on aerobic performance. Future research with larger samples and extended intervention period is recommended.

Abstract

Background: Adolescent athletes are prone to exercise-induced fatigue, making effective recovery strategies essential. Although carbohydrate–protein beverages support recovery, most studies focus on commercial products, while the potential of local ingredients such as pisang raja and gulo puan in Indonesia remains underexplored. Research Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the effects of a homemade recovery drink (HRD) formulated from low-fat milk, cocoa powder, pisang raja, and gulo puan on the physical recovery of adolescent soccer athletes. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was conducted with student-athletes (aged 15–17 years) from Sekolah Olahraga Negeri Sriwijaya Palembang, divided into a control group (placebo, n = 10) and an intervention group (HRD, n = 10). The intervention was administered in a single-blind manner, with two doses provided during a 2-hour recovery window. Data collected included blood pressure, heart rate, and blood glucose. Finding/Results: The results showed no significant differences in blood pressure between the HRD and placebo groups (p > 0.05). However, significant differences were found in post-recovery heart rate and blood glucose levels (p < 0.05). The HRD group showed significantly higher post-recovery blood glucose levels (95 ± 5.77 vs. 88.5 ± 6.49 mg/dL, p = 0.022), and heart rate in this group returned closer to baseline compared to the placebo. Conclusion: The findings suggest that an HRD formulated from culturally relevant, locally sourced ingredients can effectively support post-exercise recovery in adolescent athletes by maintaining cardiovascular stability and blood glucose levels. This study highlights the potential of traditional Indonesian foods as affordable, accessible alternatives to commercial recovery products.

Abstract

This research targets geopark's two potentials in education and tourism by introducing and inculcating the Sapta Pesona character values using infographic teaching materials. Infographic book media is deemed a medium appropriate to the concrete thinking stages of elementary school students, which displays information visualization in an interesting and structured way. Therefore, this study intends to develop an infographic book introducing geopark and instilling Sapta Pesona character values for elementary school students, implemented in the local content curriculum in several elementary schools closest to the Bayah Dome Geopark area. Through research and development (R&D) methods with three main stages: (1) preliminary study stage, (2) design and development stage, and (3) product testing stage, this research produced an infographic book product to recognize the potential of geoparks and their character values that can be used as supplementary media for elementary school local content. The results of this study are expected to be an alternative introduction to the potential of geopark as a medium of learning and instilling character values targeting elementary school-age students. In addition, this research is a follow-up to the Lebak Regency MoU with UPI Serang Campus to optimize UPI's role in contributing to the sustainable development goals of potential areas in Indonesia. The development of Sapta Pesona-based infographic teaching materials in the Bayah Dome Geopark area, Lebak Regency, could be carried out properly; likewise, the teaching materials created could be adequately implemented. Many students in the Bayah Dome Geopark area of Lebak Regency were interested in teaching materials with pictures in infographics, where not-too-much reading and visualized through pictures made this ‘Asyiknya Bayahku' teaching material book more attractive and liked by students in elementary schools. Moreover, the teacher's enthusiasm for new teaching materials regarding independent curriculum learning has brought this research to further development due to much help from teachers waiting for these books and materials to be implemented in schools. Furthermore, the implementation of this book also positively impacted the application of character values in schools where this teaching material was implemented.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the perception of English language education students at Universitas Hamzanwadi regarding the utilization of TikTok as a tool for improving the speaking and listening skills. This study employed quantitative survey-based approach with 165 participants from the second to eighth semester. To collect the data, the researcher distributed Google Form which containing a total of 21 statements: ten assertions focused on students’ speaking skills and eleven statements focused on their listening skills. each statement was design to gauge students’ perceptions of TikTok as a tool for enhancing these language skills. The participants responded the statements by the Likert scale; strongly agree, agree, disagree, and strongly disagree. The data analysis involved calculating the frequency and percentage of responses for each statement to determine overall trends in perceptions. The findings reveal that students perceive TikTok as an engaging platform for enhancing speaking skills, facilitating pronunciation and intonation learning, boosting confidence, motivating regular practice, expanding vocabulary, exposing them to various accents, and aiding fluency development. Moreover, TikTok was seen as beneficial for improving listening skills, particularly in understanding different accents, comprehending content at various speeds, offering diverse and engaging content, motivating practice, and enhancing overall listening proficiency. TikTok has shown potential as a valuable supplementary tool for language learning; however, its integration into formal educational settings requires further investigation. It may be beneficial to explore specific strategies for incorporating TikTok into curricula, such as using it for vocabulary building, cultural exposure, or student-generated content to enhance engagement.

Abstract

Managing blood glucose levels by selecting foods with a low glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL) is important in preventing and controlling metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to determine the chemical characteristics, GI, and GL of four instant potato cream soup formulations using quail egg flour, tempeh, and soy protein isolate (ISP) as additives. Adding these ingredients aims to increase the product's nutritional content and modify its glycemic response. This study used an experimental design with a complete randomized design (CRD). The results showed that adding tempeh, ISP, and quail egg flour increased the products' protein and dietary Fiber proportion. The GI values of the four products were low. High GI values were found in the control formulation (SK0) and SK1 (tempeh addition). Formulations with the addition of ISP (SK2) and SK3, as well as tempeh, ISP, and quail egg flour, produced medium-category GL and have the potential to support more effective blood glucose management. In conclusion, this modification has potential in the development of innovative functional food products based on natural ingredients that are healthier and suitable for blood sugar management, as well as supporting the prevention of metabolic diseases.
