Abstract

Background: High emotional intelligence can prevent adolencents from deviant behaviour, particullary premarital sexual behavior. This study aims to prove that high emotional intelligence can reduce premarital sexual behavior. Methods: This study is an analytical observational research using cross sectional approach. This study had been done in April 2012 in SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta. 83 samples had been choosed by simple random sampling. This study use premarital sexual behavior as dependent variable, emotional quotient as independent variable, attitudes about premarital sexual behavior, bad influence of friends and religion as controlled variables. Questionnare to measure all variables had been tested validity and reliability. Samples were analyzed using binary logistic regression with SPSS 17.0. Results: This study shows that by controlling confounding factors, adolescents who have high emotional intelligence maybe lead to good sexual behavior by 6.84 times bigger than adolescents with low emotional intelligence (OR = 6.84; CI 95% = 1.75-26.72; p = 0.006). Conclusion: There is a relationship between emotional intelligence and premarital sexual behavior by controlling confounding factors. High emotional intelligence can reduce bad premarital sexual behavior. Keywords: premarital sexual behavior, emotional intelligence

Abstract

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a non-infectious chronic and progressive disease, that has become one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. The treatment management of COPD is complex. Factors that can optimize treatment include patient acceptance to disease process, knowledge, trust in the treatment, effective patient-doctor communication, and adherence to treatment. This study aimed to analyze the association between knowledge of COPD and adherence to treatment among patients with COPD. Methods: This analytic study was observational with cross-sectional approach. A sample of 40 study subjects was selected by exhaustive sampling from outpatients with COPD visiting the Pulmonary Clinics, RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. The data were collected by interview using a set of questionnaire. The data was analyszed using multiple logistic regression model on SPSS version 17 for Windows. Results: Patients with high level of knowledge had 20 times as many level of adherence to COPD treatment than those with low level of knowledge (OR=21.01; 95%CI 2.08 to 211.98; p = 0.001). This estimate has controlled for the effects of confounding variables such as payment method, age, and gender. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant association between knowledge of COPD and adherence to treatment among patients with COPD. This conclusion is drawn after controlling for the effects of confounding factors such as payment method, age, and gender. Keywords: COPD, knowledge, adherence to treatment

Abstract

Backgrounds: Sexual libido or sexual desire has been referred to as desire, appetite, drive and the motivation to seek out sexual satisfaction. Reduced libido is widely considered the symptomatic reflection of low testosterone levels in man. Physical activity is one way to increase testosterone release into circulation from Leydig cell in testis that can affect the libido itself. Objection of this research is to find whether a physical activity related to sexual libido, especially in Grogol Subdistrict, Sukoharjo. Methods: This research was an observational analytic research in cross sectional approaching that had been done at Grogol Subdistrict, Sukoharjo on Mei-June 2014. The study is conducted on 40 samples according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria that have been set. Data were collected from questionnaires by respondents. The data were statistically tested with Chi Square test, which is followed by using Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis to determine the relationship between variables which has controlled the confounding variable. Results: The statistical analysis result for Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis shows the value of p = 0.816 and Odds Ratio = 1.23. Conclusions: Based on the test result of Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis, it can be concluded that physical activity and sexual libido of male office workers in Grogol Subdistrict, Sukoharjo, is related in a negative way, but the result was not statistically significant. Abstract

Backgrounds: Diarrhea is one of the highest cause of mortality and morbidity in children, especially under five-years old. Outbreak of diarrhea also often happen with high Case Fatality Rate (CFR). Diarrhea can be prevented if the community can apply clean and health behavior. The purpose of this research is to analyze the correlation of clean and health behavior in a household with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five-years old. Methods: This research was an observational epidemiology research with the case control approach. It was held in May-June 2014 in the territories of Puskesmas Ngoresan Jebres. Sampling had been done by fixed-disease sampling, and the selection was done by checking the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study sample. Data was collected using questioner and independent interview to the respondent. Data obtained by 60 subjects and analyzed by Chi Square Test. Results: Based on the result of Chi Square test, there was a significant difference between the group of people with clean and health behavior in a household with the incidence of diarrhea, whereas the value of p (<0,001) < 0,05. Out of eight indicators, there are four indicators which have a significant correlation  with the incidence of diarrhea, those are the use of clean water (p value <0,001), waste management (p value <0,001), use of floor (p value <0,001) and use of latrines (p value 0,042). Results: Based on chi-square test, out of eight indicators, there are four indicators that were have significant correlation associated with the incidence of diarrhea, those are the use of clean water (p value <0,001), waste management (p value <0,001), use of floor (p value <0,001) and use of latrines (p value: 0,042). Whereas other four indicators have no significant correlation were not associated with the incidence of diarrhea, those are nutritional status (p value: 0,154), teeth and mouth hygiene (p value: 0,326), exclusive breastfeeding (p value: 0,443), and hand hygiene (p value: 1,000). Conclusions: Based on this research, among eight indicators there are were four indicators of clean and healthy behaviour in a household that that have significant associated with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five-years old, those are the use of clean water, waste management, use of floor and use of latrines. Abstract

Backgrounds: Erectile dysfunction is the persistent inability to attain and maintain an erection sufficient to permit satisfactory sexual performance. Although it is a benign disorder, erectile dysfunction may affect physical and psychosocial health and may have a significant impact on the quality of life of sufferers and their partners. Physical activity is a protective factor for normal erectile function. Objection of this research is to know correlation between physical activity and erectile dysfunction at Office Workers in Grogol Subdistrict, Sukoharjo. Methods: This research was an observational analytic research in cross sectional study that has been done at Grogol Subdistrict, Sukoharjo on May-June 2014. The study was conducted on 40 men aged 30-50 years old, have been married for more than 2 years, have at least 1 child, in good income and economic condition, having graduated from junior high school, as permanent office worker, and passed the screening Lie-scale Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (LMMPI). In addition, they were not smokers, having no history of chronic disease, and or abnormalities of the genitals. Data collected by questionnaires and were analyzed with Chi Square test as well as Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis. Results: Twenty five out of forty subjects had high physical activity, 21 subjects out of them had no erectile dysfunction, in contrast, the other 4 subjects had. The rest of fifteen subjects of the others had low physical activity. Five subjects out of them had no erectile dysfunction, in contrast, 10 subjects out of the others had. It means that erectile dysfunction was more often presented in subject that had low physical activity than subjects that had high physical activity. Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis showed the value of p=0.049 and odds ratio=0.19. Conclusions: There is significant correlation between physical activity and erectile dysfunction at office workers in Grogol Subdistrict, Sukoharjo. Abstract

Background: Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in men can be caused by obesity, especially abdominal obesity. Abdominal obesity showed the visceral fat proportion of a man. There are many ways to meassure visceral fat proportion, one of them is Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR). The high proportion of visceral fat cause disturbance of blood vessel that may cause ED. This study is aimed to examine the association the occurrence of ED among men with large and small WHtR. Methods: This study was an analytic-observational study with cross sectional approach conducted in Jebres District in September-October 2014. The subjects were 40 men selected using simple random sampling technique. The dependent variable under study was Erectile Dysfunction. The Indepenent variable under study was Waist-to-Height Ratio. The confounding factor to control was age. The data obtained from physical measurements and questionnaire-led interviews with standard questionnaire International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) for ED diagnostic. The data were analyzed by use of chi-square and multiple logistic-regression, on SPSS 21.0. Results: The result from bivariate analysis showed that 17 out of 20 men with large WHtR (> 0.5) experienced ED (OR = 1.42; p = 0.677); on the other hand, 27 out of 28 men aged > 50 years experienced ED (OR = 27; p = 0.000). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that men with large WHtR risk experienced ED 1.66 times higher than men with small WHtR. (OR = 1.66; CI = 95% 0.23 to 12.23; p = 0.617). Conclusions: There is association between WHtR and ED. Men with large WHtR risk experiencing ED more than men with small WHtR, this result is not statistically significant. Abstract

JKN – SJSN (Public Health Security) patient as the customers who use health care service in Puskesmas need a high-quality health service to cure the diseases they suffer from. Furthermore, to generate satisfaction with the health service they receive from the personnel of Puskesmas. As we know, Puskesmas is one form of comprehensive health service organizations encompassing health promotion, prevention, curing and recovery aspects for all people so that the society will get a high-quality and affordable health service. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between health service quality and the satisfaction level of JKN – SJSN patients in UPTD Puskesmas Nusukan of Surakarta City. This study was an analytical observational research with cross-sectional approach. Fourty subjects of research selected using simple random sampling technique were the participants of JKN – SJSN who had had them examined in UPTD Puskesmas Nusukan of Surakarta City and met the inclusion criteria. The data collection was carried out through questionnaire with the direction of the researchers. The data of research was analyzed using Chi Square test and processed using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 21.00 for Windows. This study showed that the Quality of Health Service was related significantly to the Satisfaction Level of JKN – SJSN Patient. There was a statistically significant relationship between Health Service Quality and the Satisfaction Level of JKN – SJSN patients with OR = 20,8; CI 95% = 2,35–184,40; p<0,001.

Abstract

Background: Health status of the child at this time can not be said to be good because of the high frequency of health problems, especially in school children. Problems often arise at school-age children was the lack of concern for personal hygiene. One of them is handwashing behavior before eating and drinking or activities. Therefore, researchers wanted to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge, attitudes towards Handwashing Behavior with soap in junior high school students. Methods: This study was an observational analytic research with cross sectional approach. The research was conducted in SMPN 1 and SMPN 6 Surakarta. Subjects in this study were drawn from the target population, then reduced to a junior high school student population source (affordable) students of SMPN 1 and SMPN 6 Surakarta. The samples in this study were the second-grade students of SMPN 1 and SMPN 6 contained in the population and meet the inclusion criteria. The number of samples taken was 300 students from the source population of 480 students. Results: The relationship between knowledge level and handwashing behavior with soap (OR = 22.06; CI 95% 12.09 – 40.24, p=0.000). The relationship between attitude and handwashing behavior with soap (OR = 3.66; CI 95% 2.21 – 6.06, p=0.000). Conclusion: The students with a good level of knowledge have a greater possibility to do handwashing with soap. Abstract

Introduction: Menopause causes changes in ovarian function that will automatically affect production of hormones that can cause a variety of physical and mental symptoms. These symptoms will lead to lower health-related quality of life in postmenopausal women. Yoga is a physical and meditation exercise. According to various studies, yoga can reduce symptoms of postmenopausal syndrome. This study aimed to investigate effect yoga on health-related quality of life in menopause. Methods: This research used observational analytic with case control approach. The subject were postmenopausal women who did yoga in Ganeps Surakarta. Samples were taken with fixed exposure sampling technique. There were 45 subjects of research which consists of 15 people did yoga and 30 people did not yoga. Independent variable of this research was yoga and dependent variable was health-related quality of life scores were measured using a questionnaire Medical Outcomes Study SF-36. Gained Data was presented in table form and analyzed bivariate analysis using t-test and multivariate analysis using multiple linear regression analysis. Results: This research showed t-test value p < 0.001 which meant that there was significant effect yoga on health related quality of life. And there were significant difference scores between yoga group and no yoga group (p < 0.001). Multiple linear regression value showed regression coefficients= 435,6; p < 0.001 (Constants: 3296.41; CI 95% (-692)-1230.82; R2adjusted: 32.2% and p < 0.001). Conclusions: Yoga can effect on health-related quality of life in menopause women. Keywords: Yoga, Quality of life, Menopause.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a condition of increasing blood pressure and it causes certain symptoms which will further damage the body. Elderly or a person older than 60 years old will be more susceptible to hypertension because there were many changes in body function and structure. Hypertension will lead to changes in vascular structures, disruption of cerebral autoregulation, white matter lesion, lacunar infarction, and eventually result in cognitive impairment. This study aims to determine a relation of hypertension to cognitive impairment in elderly at Posyandu Lansia developed by Puskesmas Ngoresan, Surakarta and factors which affect cognitive impairment. Methods: This was an observational analytic research with a cross sectional study. This research was done in Posyandu Lansia and general clinic of Puskesmas Ngoresan, Surakarta. The subject of the research was the elderly with hypertension at Puskesmas Ngoresan, Surakarta, male, aged ≥ 60 years, and literate. The 60 samples were taken using purposive sampling technique, which consist of 30 with hypertension and 30 without hypertension. Blood pressure was measured by using mercury sphygmomanometer. The assesment of cognitive function was done by using the Indonesian version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-Ina). The data were analyzed using chi square and multiple logistic regression. Results: The result of analytic test between hypertension and cognitive impairment showed significant relation (OR = 7.59; CI 95% = 1.73 – 33.30; p = 0,007). There was significant relation between smoking activity and cognitive impairment (OR = 0.07; CI 95% = 0.01 – 0.40; p = 0.003). Level of education and hypertension duration showed non significant relation to cognitive impairment with each value is p = 0.059; p = 0.697. Conclusions: Hypertension is a factor that increases the risk of cognitive impairment and smoking is a factor that decreases the risk of cognitive impairment.
