Abstract

This research investigates the increasing significance of human resource management (HRM) in addressing the rise in competition within the education realm, especially in Islamic boarding school institutions. It is essential for academic personnel to not only exhibit strong academic skills but also to reflect Islamic principles. Consequently, the idea of dual competency, which merges professional academic abilities with religious morals, is viewed as a pertinent strategy. The goal of this study is to evaluate the application of HRM based on dual competency and how it relates to job satisfaction and loyalty among academic faculty at the Al-Multazam Islamic Boarding School Foundation located in Kuningan, West Java. This study adopts a qualitative methodology utilizing field research techniques. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and reviewing documents, with informants chosen via purposive sampling, comprising permanent staff with at least one year of professional experience. Data analysis was performed through processes of reducing data, displaying findings, and drawing conclusions. The results demonstrate that implementing HRM grounded in dual competency, particularly through strategies for hiring and retaining staff, significantly contributes to enhancing job satisfaction and employee loyalty. The congruence between the skills of employees and the requirements of their roles, reinforced by a religiously inspired work environment, cultivates a stronger feeling of satisfaction and commitment to the organization. Importantly, this study highlights the development of spiritual loyalty, in which employees view their jobs as a type of worship (ibadah), thereby bolstering their internal motivation and ongoing commitment to the institution

Abstract

K-means++ is developed to improve the performance of k-means when choosing a starting centroid. However, both algorithms in clustering still select an initial centroid randomly. Randomly selecting initial centroids has the potential to produce unstable clusters. This paper proposes a deterministic centroid initialization method called variance-k-means++, which utilizes statistical properties—mean and variance—to generate pseudo-centroids and derive initial centroids. The method aims to improve clustering stability and reduce the number of iterations. For the initial study, we used low-dimensional data to conduct the experiment series. Then, we employed two baseline methods for benchmarking, k-means and k-means++. The results show that variance-k-means++ outperformed the baseline method on average. Evaluating in Davies-Bouldin Index (DBI) and convergence analysis, we obtained DBI values at 0.756 and 0,771 for vertical and horizontal variance k-means++ with Iris dataset. At the same time, baseline methods have 0.802 and 0.830 for k-means++ and k-means, respectively. In convergence analysis, the results are 5.158 for vertical and 5.474 for horizontal, while baseline methods are 9.000 and 8.842. The primary contribution of this study lies in its achievement of minimizing the number of iterations while enhancing cluster stability.

Abstract

Objectives: Task performance is an essential determinant of organization life, including profit and non-profit organizations. Lecturers' task performance in universities is vital to realizing the goals, which include creating quality graduates and building competitiveness that promises sustainable progress for all involved stakeholders. Therefore, it is crucial to investigate lecturers' task performance by considering other relevant variables. Accordingly, this study examined Indonesian lecturers' task performance based on innovative behavior, job involvement, and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The study also attempted to find relevant models of innovative behavior influencing lecturers' task performance, mediated by job involvement and OCB. Methods: Questionnaires with the Likert scale were used to collect data from 230 lecturers selected using accidental sampling. The data were analyzed using descriptive and correlational techniques and structural equation modeling. Results: Innovative behavior, job involvement, and OCB significantly affected the lecturers' task performance. Besides, job involvement and OCB mediating innovative behavior affected the lecturers' task performance. However, the mediating role of job involvement was more prominent than that of OCB. Novelty: A new model of innovative behavior mediated by job involvement and OCB was developed, affecting lecturers' task performance. It is hoped that the model can trigger interesting discussions and raise new hope for task performance improvement based on innovative behavior mediating job involvement and OCB. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2022-SIED-09 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

Oil palm leaf extract (OPLE) contains abundant phenolic and flavonoid compounds with recognized antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential; however, its pharmacological applications remain underexplored. This study aimed to optimize the enrichment process of OPLE and characterize its bioactive compounds using integrated in vitro and in silico approaches. The extraction was optimized by incorporating trichloroacetic acid and extending the incubation time to 48 h, resulting in significantly increased total phenolic content and antioxidant activity compared with the control. LC–MS/MS profiling identified 14 flavonoid compounds with diverse biological functions. Among these, Rhamnetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, Kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside, and Nelumboroside A exhibited the strongest antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities, while Baicalein-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside and Kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside demonstrated relatively higher anti-inflammatory potential. Molecular docking and dynamics simulations showed Luteolin as the most promising multifunctional compound, exhibiting stable binding affinities toward LOX5 (−7.5 kcal/mol) and COX2 (−9.6 kcal/mol) targets, with comparable binding residues to the control ligand, Celecoxib. Root mean square deviation and root mean square fluctuation analyses confirmed the stability of the COX2–Luteolin complex, indicating reliable protein–ligand interaction. Furthermore, ADME predictions supported Luteolin’s favorable pharmacokinetic profile, including optimal lipophilicity (logP 0.19) and acceptable oral absorption. Collectively, these results demonstrate the successful optimization of OPLE enrichment and provide molecular-level evidence of its bioactivity. Luteolin emerged as a potential lead compound with balanced antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. This study highlights the high biopharmaceutical value of oil palm leaves as a sustainable source of natural therapeutics, promoting their use beyond agricultural waste.

Abstract

This article aims to empirically prove a new theoretical approach developed to address the gap in prior research regarding the impact of organizational learning on sustainable competitive advantage from the perspective of a shared vision. It focuses on tawhidic culture that is aligned with the exploitation and exploration of knowledge. The design research was conducted by distributing a questionnaire to 117 respondents from 54 private universities in Central Java, Indonesia. The data obtained from the questionnaires was then processed using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique. The research findings indicate that implementing tawhidic culture in a private university in Central Java has a positive impact towards sustainable competitive advantage. This impact occurs when tawhidic culture is effectively integrated into all aspects of the institution, including the development of a shared vision through a tawhidic culture, which positively influences the realization of sustainable competitive advantage. The positive influence of a tawhidic culture on enhancing sustainable competitive advantage is also evident when there is an increase in knowledge exploration. This article presents a novel research variable, tawhidic culture, which is constructed based on the integration of the resourcebased view (RBV) theory of strategic assets with the tahidic paradigm. This variable serves as a foundation for enhancing sustainable competitive advantage

Abstract

River sediment is the product of a sedimentation process in the river environment that originates from the weathering of bedrock or erosion processes, organic materials, particles, or anthropogenic substances. Previous research shows the magnetic mineral content in the sediments of the Citarum River and its tributaries. Suspended sediment was collected from the Citarum River and its tributaries in West Java, Indonesia, for mineralogical and granulometric analysis. The aim of this research is to distinguish between magnetic mineral sources, a scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), and rock magnetism. The hysteresis parameter verifies that the XRD measurement results show that the main magnetic minerals in suspended sediments are ferrimagnetic minerals such as magnetite (Fe3O4). According to the results of the SEM-EDX investigations, the magnetic granules in the Citarum River and its tributaries derive from two distinct sources: pedogenic and anthropogenic. The Citarum River and its tributaries’ magnetic granules are generally octahedral or angular in shape, with broken corners, indicating a pedogenic origin
