This type of research is pre-experimental research using one-group pretest and posttest design. The sample of this study was 26 students of class VIII at MTsN 1 Makassar. The instrument of data collection for this research was a reading test consisting of pretest and posttest in the form of multiple choice and true/false. The data analysis method used is descriptive analysis and inferential analysis using the Independent Sample t-Test which are processed using SPSS 29.0. The research findings indicated that the second-grade students of MTsN 1 Makassar were pretty low in reading skill. The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of using the Kahoot app to improve reading comprehension of students in MTsN 1 Makassar who had been studying Narrative text material. This is a pre-experimental study that employs a one-group pretest and posttest design. The study's sample consisted of 26 eighth-grade students from MTsN 1 Makassar. For this study, a reading test with multiple choice and true/false questions was used to obtain data. The descriptive and inferential data analysis methods employed are descriptive analysis and inferential analysis utilizing the Independent Sample t-Test, both of which are performed using SPSS 29.0. The study showed that the reading proficiency of the MTsN 1 Makassar second grade kids was quite low, but their reading comprehension improved quite significant after the treatment. It was demonstrated by the results of the pre-test mean score of 65.35, which was classified as moderate, and the post-test mean score of 88.65, which was classified as excellent, with an average N-Gain value of 0.71, indicating an improvement. Given that the t-test value was less than 0.05 (0.001<0.005), the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. As a result, it appears that the use of the Kahoot app is helpful in improving students' reading comprehension at MTsN 1 Makassar. It is expected that Kahoot app can be a recommendation for teachers to improve the teaching performance and enhance the student’s reading comprehension.

This study aims to find out whether or not the incorporation of song lyrics is effective in improving students’ vocabulary of verbs in the Eleventh Grade at SMA Negeri 5 Bulukumba. This study employed a nonequivalent group design and a quasi-experimental methodology. Two classes were utilized as the sample by the researchers; the experimental group and the control group. The results of the experiments indicated that students could acquire more words by being taught vocabulary through song lyrics. It can be done by comparing the students' test results before and after instruction. According to data analysis, there was a significant difference in students' vocabulary knowledge in the experimental class, which used English song lyrics, and the control class did not use song lyrics. This is proven by seeing the mean score of posttests for the control class was 68.91 categorized as fair. For the experimental class, the mean score on the pretests was 60.47, which was considered low, while the mean score on the posttests was 80.31, which was considered high. It may be said that there is a considerable difference between the experimental class and the control class in how much song lyrics are used to increase the students' vocabulary mastery in SMA Negeri 5 Bulukumba.

This study aims to determine whether the use of short stories in learning to read improves students' reading comprehension or not, as well as to find out how students perceive the use of short stories in an effort to improve students' reading comprehension. This study uses quantitative methods to determine whether or not students' reading comprehension increases after using short stories in the teaching and learning process, and to determine students' perceptions of the use of short stories. The researcher took the research subjects of class XI MIA 3 SMAN 9 Makassar students in the 2020/2021 school year, totaling 30 students with a hybrid learning system of 15 students. Instruments in data collection are tests, observations and questionnaires. The results of the data analysis show that the use of short stories can improve students' reading comprehension. This is evident from the results of the analysis of students' pre-test and post-test scores, where the average pre-test score of students is 60 and the average post-test score of students increases to 83. Thus, it can be concluded that by using short stories the value of the average student increased 38.3%. In addition, based on the results of the questionnaire distributed to students, shows that students have a positive perception of the use of short stories in the teaching and learning process of reading in the classroom. This can be seen from the average score of the overall perception of students is 50.9, where this score has passed the limit of the average score for perceptions considered negative, which is equal to or less than 49.
