Abstract

This study basically aimed to explore students’ grammatical errors in writing descriptive paragraph using surface strategy taxonomy. The participants of this qualitative research were first year students of English education department of STKIP Yapis Dompu who took basic writing class in academic year 2023/2024. The researcher analyzed 12 students’ descriptive writings about “Guide Dog” written to meet assignment of “Basic Writing” course. The data of this research then analyzed in the form of percentage. The findings of this research revealed that the most common grammatical errors committed by the students in their descriptive writing were on misformation having number of 34 or 45% of the total numbers of errors that ranked first. This was followed by addition with 22 or 28% that ranked second, misordering with 12 or 16% that ranked third, and omission with 8 or 11% that ranked fourth. Another very important finding was that the most common grammatical errors based on sub category errors were on the usage of verb with 60 or 80% of the total 76. It indicated that almost all students do not really understand the usage of verb in present tense. They often made structurally incorrect sentences. This issue must be given a special attention by all lecturers of English education department of STKIP Yapis Dompu to find solution students' competence to construct correct English sentences will definitely reflect on almost all other English courses such as, academic writing, reading for academic, TOEFL, grammar for TOEFL, listening, and many more courses

Abstract

Collaborative efforts among community members, health care professionals, and faith-based institutions can prove valuable in efforts to improve community health. The aim of this research is to increase knowledge about risk factors for heart disease, diabetes, stroke among the Bugis Community Kalimantan population; and to empower community members to take control of their health by modifying living habits through health education programs held within religious communities. This study used data obtained from a pre- and post-health risk assessment survey to assess participants' knowledge of risk factors that cause chronic diseases among the Kalimantan population in underserved Bugis communities. Data obtained from activity log books and health check sessions were used to assess the impact of knowledge gained about lifestyle practices. The results of the educational intervention showed progress, with 24% of participants experiencing a decrease in blood pressure, 18% experiencing a decrease in blood sugar, and 6% experiencing a decrease in weight. As many as 60% of participants reported an increase in exercise, 77% reported changes in eating patterns to be healthier, and 95% of participants reported increased knowledge about risk factors for heart disease, diabetes and stroke. These results emphasize the importance of ongoing health education programs to increase public awareness and knowledge in preventing chronic diseases. The research findings support the need for continued popular development of educational programs especially in religious institutions within the Bugis community.

Abstract

Digital literacy skills have become an essential competency for students in the era of technological transformation and educational digitalization. However, initial observations revealed that most first-year students still faced significant limitations in operating computers, particularly in using word processing applications such as Microsoft Word, which are crucial for academic activities. To address this issue, a basic computer training program was implemented using an interactive approach that combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practice. This program aimed to enhance students’ fundamental computer skills and build their confidence in utilizing digital technology. The learning by doing method was applied through individual mentoring and direct practice in the computer laboratory. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ abilities, including operating computers, managing documents with Microsoft Word, and understanding ethical aspects of technology use.Beyond technical proficiency, the training also fostered positive attitudes toward technology use in academic contexts. Students became more active, independent, and receptive to digital-based learning. Therefore, the interactive basic computer training proved to be an effective strategy for transforming digital literacy among first-year students and served as a crucial foundation for preparing them to meet the demands of digital-era education.

Abstract

Kesulitan dalam belajar adalah keadaan yang dapat menimbulkan halangan yang mengganggu proses pendidikan. Kondisi kesulitan ini muncul akibat beberapa faktor tertentu. Cara dan strategi yang diterapkan oleh pengajar selama proses pembelajaran menjadi faktor kunci yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan atau kegagalan peserta didik dalam akademiknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi yang digunakan  guru dalam mengatasi kesulitan belajar pada mata pelajaran bahasa Arab kelas XI di MA Al-Jamaliyah Raso. Penelitian ini menggunakan  studi kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif, menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, Tanya jawab, dan pencatatan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa 1). Masih terdapat peserta didik yang mengalami kesulitan belajar pada mata pelajaran bahasa Arab 2). Strategi yang digunakan oleh guru pada mata pelajaran bahasa Arab adalah  strategi bahasa Arab itu sendiri seperti strategi Mufradhat, tarkib, istima’, kalam, qira’ah, kitabah, dengan menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran structural, Role Playing dan Aural-Oral. 3) Faktor pendukung pembelajaran bahasa Arab di MA Al-Jamaliyah Raso adalah adanya mata pelajaran qawaid bahasa Arab sebagai dasar dalam memperajari bahasa Arab. dan faktor penghambatnya merupakan waktu pembelajaran yang singkat, sarana prasaran yang kurang memadai, dan kurangnya minat belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran bahasa Arab.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the decline in students' learning outcomes in class X E, as evidenced by the average score of 31.88 in the odd semester examination of the 2024/2025 academic year for the History subject, as well as the use of conventional teaching methods which are considered boring. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the Project Based Learning model on students' learning outcomes in class X E. The method used in this research was a Quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, involving an experimental class (X E) and a control class (X F) with purposive sampling techniques, and the research sample consisted of 29 students. The results of the Mann Whitney U analysis showed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.017 < 0.05, thus the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. Therefore, there is a significant influence of the Project Based Learning model on students' learning outcomes in the History subject in class X E At SMA Negeri 1 Sigi.

Abstract

Kebocoran pada riser wall tube merupakan salah satu permasalahan utama pada boiler pembangkit listrik tenaga uap (PLTU) karena berperan vital dalam proses pembentukan uap sehingga kegagalannya berdampak langsung pada kinerja termodinamika dan kontinuitas operasi pembangkit. Penelitian ini menganalisis kasus kebocoran riser wall tube di PLTU XYZ Unit 1 dengan membandingkan kondisi operasional sebelum dan sesudah kejadian. Data menunjukkan penurunan beban dari 49,3 MW menjadi 40 MW, penurunan tekanan uap utama dari 8,6 MPa menjadi 8,13 MPa, serta penurunan temperatur uap dari 536 °C menjadi 530 °C. Selain itu, tekanan furnace meningkat signifikan dari -214 Pa menjadi 2500 Pa, sedangkan tekanan windbox naik dari 12,3 kPa menjadi 17,5 kPa. Kondisi ini diikuti penurunan efisiensi boiler dari 88% menjadi 80% dan peningkatan konsumsi bahan bakar. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan total kerugian energi sebesar 5.968.095 kWh dengan nilai kerugian finansial mencapai Rp 4.243.613.949, menegaskan bahwa kebocoran riser wall tube tidak hanya menurunkan performa teknis pembangkit tetapi juga menimbulkan kerugian ekonomi yang signifikan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan strategi predictive maintenance, inspeksi rutin dengan metode non-destructive test (NDT), serta monitoring real-time parameter operasi menjadi langkah penting untuk meningkatkan keandalan, memperpanjang umur komponen kritis, dan meminimalkan risiko kerugian akibat kebocoran serupa di masa mendatang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya filsafat pragmatisme dalam membentuk arah pendidikan modern yang berfokus pada pengalaman nyata dan kebermanfaatan praktis. Masalah yang muncul adalah perlunya pemahaman lebih mendalam mengenai bagaimana aliran pemikiran pragmatisme memengaruhi praktik pendidikan, khususnya dalam konteks Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji fondasi pemikiran pragmatis, menelaah pendekatan pendidikan yang lahir dari aliran tersebut, serta menganalisis dampaknya terhadap proses pembelajaran. Metode penelitian menggunakan studi historis dan eksplorasi filosofis dengan menganalisis naskah, literatur, serta konsep-konsep yang dikembangkan tokoh utama pragmatisme, yakni John Dewey, Charles Sanders Peirce, dan William James. Analisis teoritik digunakan untuk menafsirkan relevansi gagasan tersebut dengan praktik pendidikan kontemporer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pragmatisme, dengan penekanan pada pengalaman, relevansi kontekstual, dan orientasi pada pemecahan masalah, memberikan landasan penting bagi pengembangan metode pembelajaran aktif dan partisipatif. Dalam konteks Indonesia, pengaruhnya tampak pada penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman, integrasi ilmu dengan kehidupan nyata, serta pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Selain itu, pemikiran pragmatisme juga memiliki jangkauan luas dalam bidang pedagogi sains, pembelajaran bahasa, kesehatan mental, hingga manajemen krisis, sehingga memperkuat signifikansi filsafat ini bagi dunia pendidikan dan praktik sosial secara lebih luas.

Abstract

This study analyzes the philosophical role of naturalism in shaping the paradigm of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia. The problem addressed is the gap between the ideal values of naturalism—such as experiential learning, contextual development, and learner autonomy—and their practical implementation in schools. The research aims to identify how deeply naturalistic principles are embedded in curriculum design and classroom practices. Using a qualitative library research method, the study critically examines academic literature, educational policies, and previous studies to uncover the ideological foundation of the curriculum. The findings reveal that although the Merdeka Curriculum promotes freedom and student-centered learning, its implementation is still hindered by structural rigidity, limited teacher understanding, and bureaucratic constraints. The study concludes that strengthening philosophical integration and reflective teacher training is essential to realize a more adaptive and humanistic education system

Abstract

The philosophical foundation of realism and its implications for education, with a focus on curriculum development in Indonesia. The lack of a philosophical basis in curriculum design often neglects realism’s emphasis on objective reality as the true source of knowledge. The purpose of this study is to analyze how realism influences educational goals, curriculum structure, learning methods, and the roles of teachers and students, while also examining its relevance to the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum). This study employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach, examining classical works of philosophers such as Aristotle and secondary sources such as journals and recent research. The analysis is conducted using a descriptive-critical technique to explore the ontological, epistemological, and axiological aspects of realism. The findings indicate that realism asserts the existence of a reality independent of human thought and positions factual and scientific knowledge as the foundation of education. A realism-based curriculum is comprehensive, encompassing science, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, and values, with logical, psychological, and habituation methods. Teachers act as facilitators and classroom managers, while students are expected to master knowledge, maintain discipline, and think rationally. This study concludes that integrating realism into the Kurikulum Merdeka provides a strong epistemological foundation for fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities essential for addressing modern challenges.

Abstract

Speaking fluency is the ability to express thoughts, ideas, and feelings smoothly and coherently through spoken language. It is a fundamental skill that encompasses not only the act of speaking but also the capacity to communicate effectively. To express ideas clearly, one must possess focus, retain relevant information, and have a solid understanding of the topic being discussed. However, many students often face challenges in improving their speaking fluency. As a result, researchers and educators have increasingly turned to YouTube video tutorials as a supplementary tool in foreign language instruction. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of YouTube video tutorials in enhancing students' speaking fluency. The research employs a single-group pre-test and post-test design using a quantitative approach. A total of 20 eleventh-grade students from SMA Negeri 2 Tondano participated as the research sample. Pre-tests and post-tests were administered as instruments for data collection. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students' speaking fluency, with the average score increasing from 56.00 in the pre-test to 82.25 in the post-test. These results suggest that YouTube video tutorials can effectively enhance students’ English-speaking fluency, train their comprehension skills, and increase their motivation to learn foreign languages. However, the effectiveness of YouTube as a learning tool is influenced by several factors, including students’ learning proficiency and the ability of teachers or instructors to deliver lessons effectively.
