Abstract

Local bamboo stick products are still unable to compete with imported bamboo stick on the market due to the high cost of production. The production of bamboo stick has several stages, including cutting bamboo blades, removing bamboo skin, forming square blades, forming circle profiles, cutting lengths, smoothing, sharpening, and drying. Currently, the refining process at the Booboo Walini Workshop has an uneven level of uniformity. In the design process of this polishing machine, the VDI 2222 design methodology is used. The way this machine works is that the bamboo stick will be inserted into a cylindrical finned reservoir and then rotated within + 1 hour. The skewers will contact each other and rub against each other which can smooth the surface of the bamboo stick from the fibers. In determining the optimal geometry and number of fins in the reservoir, simulations were carried out using Altair EDEM software with a Discrete Element Method (DEM) approach and considering the optimal number of contacts during the polishing process. This machine is driven by an electric motor with a power of 1.1 kW and an output rotation of 16 rpm. This polishing machine has a production capacity of 461.5 kg daily with a storage dimension of ∅597.3 × 680 mm.

Abstract

This study examines the management of problematic receivables in Islamic banks, focusing on monitoring mechanisms, resolution strategies, and risk mitigation. The high Non-Performing Financing (NPF) ratio poses a significant challenge to Islamic banks, threatening their liquidity and reputation. This study evaluates the effectiveness of categorizing problematic receivables, from performing to non-performing financing. The findings indicate that rescue and resolution strategies can effectively reduce the NPF ratio. A case study of PT BPRS Harta Insan Karimah Parahyangan revealed that in 2023, the gross NPF ratio was 1.92%, and the net NPF ratio was 1.50%. Measures to further minimize the NPF ratio include: monitoring financing in the performing category and deposit funds, implementing rescue and resolution steps for problematic receivables, enhancing financing expansion with prudential principles, establishing Allowance for Earning Assets Losses (PPAP), and write-offs. Risk mitigation for problematic receivables can be carried out through.

Abstract

Background: Escherichia coli bacteria are normal flora bacteria in the human digestive tract that can turn into opportunistic pathogens and cause diarrhea, hemorrhagic colitis, and hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The existence of this bacterial infection is generally treated with the use of antibiotics, which have been shown to cause resistance to the E. coli bacteria, so it is necessary to treat them using other methods, namely by using drugs derived from natural ingredients (herbal medicines) that contain antibacterial compounds such as charcoal extract. coconut shell. The purpose of this study was to obtain the most effective coconut shell charcoal extract gel formulation for inhibiting the growth of E. coli bacteria in vitro. Methods: The method used in this study was a true experimental post-test only control group with treatment at different gel concentrations of 3%, 6%, and 9% with repetition. Results: The results of the one-way ANOVA analysis test showed that the treatment given to several concentrations of coconut shell charcoal extract had a mean difference in the area of the inhibition zone for E. coli bacteria with a known significance value of 0.002 (p <0.05), so it was continued with the post-host LSD test, and the results of several groups show a significant value (p <0.05) marked with the notation (*). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the gel formulation of coconut shell charcoal extract with a concentration of 3% is most effective in inhibiting the growth of E. coli bacteria in vitro.

Abstract

In paternal parenting, compared to the mother, the father tends to use controlling language that provokes conversation, such as WH questions and requests for clarification. Controlling language (control acts) is an attempt to generate a change in the actions of others. Through a pragmatic approach, this qualitative study explores the strategy, pattern, and politeness of controlling language through a paternal parenting perspective. The present study used the theory of controlling language by Ervin-Tripp et al. (1990), direct or indirect speech acts by Searle (1971), and Brown and Levinson's theory of politeness (1987). The data in this study are the directive utterances in the film The Pursuit of Happyness. These data were collected through content analysis through listening and note-taking technique and analyzed using Spradley (2016). The study found 117 directive speech act data. From the data, order/command of control acts was the dominant act with 56 data. Besides, the most politeness strategy used was positive politeness. The study's finding suggests that all fathers pay more attention to parenting their children because they play a vital role in children's cognitive development. Moreover, in Indonesian society, patriarchy prevails, where fathers act as breadwinners and mothers nurture and educate children at home.

Abstract

Forest fire detection is one of the critical challenges in disaster mitigation and environmental management. This research aims to increase the accuracy of forest fire detection through improving the convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture. The main focus of research is on efficient hyperparameter tuning, which includes selecting and optimizing key parameters in CNN architectures such as convolutional layers, kernel size, number of neurons in hidden layers, and learning algorithms. By utilizing grid search techniques and heuristic-based optimization algorithms, the resulting CNN model shows significant improvements in detection accuracy compared to previous approaches. The evaluation was carried out using a pre-processed forest fire image dataset, and the results show that architectural refinement and appropriate hyperparameter tuning can substantially improve model performance. Evaluation results comparing two models, VGG16 and the proposed method, show significant improvements over the proposed method. The proposed method shows better capabilities with an accuracy of 95.31% and a precision of 97.22%. This research contributes to developing a more reliable and efficient forest fire detection system, which is expected to be used in real applications to reduce the impact of forest fires more effectively.

Abstract

Population growth and land conversion have led to the degradation of mangrove forests on the southern coast of South Sulawesi, especially the Mamminasata area. Reduced mangroves increase carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. However, data on the potential carbon absorption of mangroves is still lacking. To overcome this, remote sensing is used to estimate carbon reserves. This reseach utilises Sentinel-2A imagery to estimate mangrove carbon stocks in Mamminasata. The image processing process includes radiometric correction, atmospheric correction, image classification, and extraction of NDVI values. The NDVI value is used to classify the density of mangroves into sparse, medium, and dense, covering 1,244.75 hectares. Field data collection was carried out through a survey of forest stand measurements. The results of NDVI transformation show a value range of 0.2 to 0.8 for mangrove objects in the Mamminasata area. The NDVI data on the analysed images were then made into three density classes. The rare density class has a carbon value of 3.56 – 21.16 Ton C/ha, the medium density class is between 21.17 – 31.49 Ton C/ha, and the dense density class is between 31.50 – 39.18 Ton C/ha. Regression analysis shows a strong correlation between NDVI and carbon stock (R² = 0.7134). This study confirms the effectiveness of remote sensing in environmental monitoring and mangrove conservation. These findings support conservation efforts and sustainable management policies by highlighting areas with high carbon sequestration potential.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company that produces palm oil (CPO). In order to maintain the quality of sales, PT XYZ must be able to maintain the quality of what is stored in a storage tank called the Oil Storage Tank (OST). The aim of this research is to identify and analyze the factors that cause mutual problems in the quality of the bottom of the Oil Storage Tank (OST) and the most important thing is to reduce the pile of sludge that occurs due to the deposition process which cannot be recycled, thus causing a loss in the amount recorded in actually in the field when the Oil Storage Tank (OST) is washed. The more sludge deposits at the bottom of the tank, the higher the potential loss for the company. This research uses the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action) method which based on the results of this research can reveal the impact of modifying the inlet pipe on the Oil Storage Tank (OST) on reducing the accumulation of sludge at the bottom of the Oil Storage Tank (OST) tank. The modification involves moving the pipe outlet to the middle of the bottom of the tank so that the sludge is distributed more evenly and makes it easier to suction when recycling it back to the processing process. As a result, the accumulation of sludge was reduced quite significantly from data from washing results in March 2023 of 23,430 kg and washing in January 2024 to 7,300 kg with a shelf life and total production of CPO (crude palm oil) stored in the Oil Storage Tank of around 20 thousand tons. over a period of 9 months.
